There are better specced cheap Android phones out there. Lumias are lovely in the lower mid-range. Below that, it's 100% Android land.

Yeah or if you could go the budget route and get a GPU for your SP4 with the keyboard.

But, if you were deciding between a dedicated laptop or a more portable laptop, you don't really need to anymore.

I'd get the SP4 for myself since I have a gaming rig at home, but my GF could use a full laptop so I may get her the Surface Book.

Really? I thought they are both quite niche products, can't really justify spending money on either for personal use myself. MS still lags with the phones and not sure if this is enough for them to catch up with being behind in the apps store space.

Basically, yep. iPad Pro just got knocked out the park.

I can't see a use case for the 950 series outside of enterprises, the app store situation is enough of a reason for people to not switch.

I reckon that a i7 with iGPU has enough power to do some 3d modeling.
My shitty ass laptop i had 6 years ago could run zbrush with such a simple model.
