Transformers: Devastation |OT| Rising in Disguise

Home from work and got to play the first devastator boss fight. Wow this game is fun and so vibrant on he tv. It looks good in person!

Where's the cheapest place to pick this up? Even though I know I'll be replaying until the Trucks come home, I'm still wary of picking this up at full price

It took me 2.2 hours (according to steam) to beat the first of seven levels (completing all the side missions), this ain't no 4 hour game.

This loot system with its synthesizing shenanigans has me overwhelmed to be honest, for this kind of game. It feels very Destiny like. This game even has a cryptarch, that's just funny.

The combat is simple but fun, I'm still on level one, this is kinda maze like to be honest. Pretty cool so far.

Game is pretty fun. Need to get more into grips with the combat, but I like it so far.

Level design so far is really dull though. I wish it was straight up linear instead of whatever they were going for honestly.

Probably won't go back to the game for a while though, too busy. Shouldn't have played tonight as it is, but I can't resist a new PG game v_v

Oh no, this game doesn't have cloud saves on PC.
Does anyone know where the save files are located?

I'm going to have to agree here for now.

I don't have it on PC and I don't really know, but try checking your Documents folder.
Maybe it's in there since that's where the put it for Rising?

This guy has killed me a few times now. At least I get to be Red Alert.

BTW, it's not only a reskin, your voice changes to Red Alert's voice.

i thought the first chapter was maze like too, i kept going off on side paths and finding chests/side missions for a while and eventually somehow ended up back at the start of the level

then i realized that i was so zoned out playing that i hadn't actually noticed there was a minimap that showed where the next objective was

i probably looked at it once and then forgot about it for like 90 minutes

Agreed on the level design, it had me backtracking a lot unnecessarily.

I like the level design. It's more involved than in prior Platinum games. I just wish there were less backtracking and the environments were a little more interesting.

Combat feels so god damned solid tho.

are there mid level save points?

Yeah, everytime you use one of those things that bring you back to The Ark, it saves your game. I stopped playing earlier right as I hit one of those and it brought me right back when I started up again.

There might be more checkpoints than just those, like I failed during one part and when I hit retry it brought me back to the beginning of that section.

Now that this game is complete, what will Saito be working on next?

Please be MGR2.

A sequel to this game based on Beast Wars, obviously. :P

No honestly that'd be sweet. I could already imagine playing as Dinobot, slicing enemies apart like Raiden. It'd be ever sweeter if they could get all the original VAs back like Garry Chalk and and David Kaye.

What? There are levels? Sold! I thought it was just Arenas.

Really want it. Just cant justify buying this without splitscreen co-op included. Will decinitely pick up when thr price drops on it

So I picked this up today for XB1. Still early in Chapter 1 (just got control of Sideswipe.)

First of all, let me just say holy shit. The combat system is on point. I know early impressions indicated it wasn't quite on Metal Gear Rising's level, but after some experimentation I want to say, provisionally, that that's not the case. There is some serious depth here. The Bayonetta-style dodge offset, the transformation madness, the cancelable combos...this is no Korra. You can build some respectable freeform strings, and the basic movelists for the three characters I've tried are large enough to style on enemies with adequate variety.

In short, Devastation appears to be a full fledged, meaty-as-hell Platinum action game with potential for high level play. I am pleasantly surprised by how much this doesn't feel like a budget title, gameplay-wise.

The graphics, sound effects, voice acting, soundtrack, and volume of hidden items are all solid as well. I'm super happy right now.

Anyone else think some of the cars move way too fast in alt mode? I often have a hard time controlling them unless it's an arena setting

The maze like level design is bad, but the combat's great. It's a budget title to be sure, some of you on the edge might want to wait for a sale.

That said, it's a really slick game. I love the voice acting and the art, and driving around feels great even if it takes some getting used to the whole "hold to transform" thing. Should have been double tap ala Bayonetta, but I'm learning it.

Also, this soundtrack is way, way better than it probably should be for a game like this. It's pretty fucking radical when it gets going.

The game looks really good and it's good to see people praising the combat. Gonna hold off though. Got too much on my plate as is.

YES!!!

And Dodge Offset is much more important than in W101 or Rising since you want the combo finishers to activate the transformation attacks. I absolutely love doing a transformation attack from the end of the combo and linking into a new rush attack --> transformation attack. So satisfying.

I'm also finding ranged attacks pretty useful. In harder boss fights, given how much hp they have and how quickly they can drain away yours if you're careful, I found myself being very methodical in efficiently withering away their health via linking up as many safe combos as I could, and using ranged weapons when it wasn't as safe or when they were just knocked too far away for me to instantly link up melee attacks. Knock them away with a combo, then launch rockets where they land! Or dash them in car mode while deploying your gun at the same time! Yeah!

I'm more than impressed with this game. I'll admit I'm a TF fan (80s/IDW) but even with that aside the game is really strong. The combat is really fun and I totally did not expect the game to be as challenging as it has been so far (ended mission 2).

There's so much right about this game I have no issues recommending it.

Low points for me - the levels themselves are bland and somewhat boring... Each time I find myself just waiting for the next combat opportunity and to see what the next sub boss/boss throws my way.

For the PS4 version, I just realized the dualshock controller light thing whatever actually changes color depending on who you're playing as.

Unprecedented current gen features, gotf.

Just finished chapter 3 and I'm loving this game so far. So good.

I'm also enjoying the "Easy" game mode, even though I'm getting Cs and Ds on most of the missions (with the occasional A and once even an SS) but I'm mostly just playing for the story and the action sequences and this game delivers both in spades.

Need clarification on PC, since someone mentioned no native 1440p and someone else said DSR wasn't working. Is anyone downsampling this, running at 4k at either 1080p or 1440p? I likely have the hardware to do it, but don't want to get stuck with running the game at 1080.

I would imagine it is polling your active desktop resolution, so selecting 4K after you set up downsampling, then running the game will likely allow you to select your resolution.

I'm thinking leaving out 1440p was an oversight, but can always be downsampled from 4K.

Just finished it. I was like damnnnn during most of the non trash mob fights. Hoping this does well so we can get a sequel where they can really stretch their legs with this source material. I was 7 years old again the entire play through.

Anyone having the issue where they aren't turning back into a robot after releasing the transform button? The only way I can get out is by attacking now :(

I wonder, since they have their own slot and little changes, do the pre-order skins count as different characters? Will you still get the cheevo for beating all characters with Prime if you use Nemesis Prime? Anyone happened to test that out yet.
