What you pictured is not uncommon in the US, but most households don't have that. TYpically, if you want sliced cheese like that you could go to to a Deli (a place that specializes in selling fresh meats and cheese) and have it sliced for you, but it's mostly mechanized now. Markets also sell sliced cheese like this:
