And agreed on initial character selection, pretty much how I choose characters I'm interested in.
What about two indian characters revealed at the same time?
I think Sim could work fine in this engine. Stretchy arms are gonna hurt now that there's no focus,

I'm still trying to figure out why having two Indians characters is impossible in your mind.
In fact, if they're going to reveal two characters from the same locations they'll reveal them at the same time like they did with Birdie and Cammy.

Ken definitely gave the locations. But, he didn't make any specific link to the character names. Gaf did that on their own.

Personally I don't see this happening for some reason.
Since Rashid wasn't from North Africa in the end, I suspect Zen might be from a different (South) Asian country (where Buddhism has a strong presence perhaps?) and that Bogard either made an estimated guess based on his appearance or was fed info that was changed later.

I still think Alex, Urien and Zen will be there and very likely day one. Even as day one DLC, hidden or boss characters or whatever. But I'm sure they will be there.
And according to my theory both Alex and a USA stage (likely to be set in New York) would be revealed at NYCC. My previous bets where than in TGS they would reveal Karin and a Japanese stage, and that Laura would be a fast paced grappler who would practice Brazilian Jiujitsu. But I have to confess that I didn't see Zangief coming.

I was actually surprised he didn't take it down sooner.
Yeah, I'm sure he'll be in eventually, but with so many characters similar in archetype, I wonder when.
Urien will probably be first. I'm stuck on the idea of this game as episodic, working characters in with the story, so if they're handling BIson/Fall of shadoloo first, they'd work up to the 3s timeline and Alex, etc. #purefanfiction

Your story distribution idea would make sense. Though I have a gut feeling that Alex, Urien, & Juri will be the first DLC characters that we get (mainly to cover the 2 Street Fighter games that probably won't be represented in the base roster).

Yeah, I've posted similar before, and I hope I'm right. Urien would fit in sooner if I'm right, but Alex, as the main character of 3s, might not.
Dhalsim would bring diversity to the game and its playstyles, Boxer...not so much.

So, I suspected that there was a reasonable chance of Alex still. However, Laura appears to solidly be a grappler... She even has a move that looks similar to Alex's Air Knee Smash. If she had been, like, a counter based character I would have more confidence.
I still think there is a good chance we get a Third Strike character in the initial roster. I am just a little less certain it will be Alex.
This is a COMPLETELY different situation, though. You can unlock characters now. People wouldn't be forced to pay money. It is actually pretty reminiscent of how things worked before the internet... I think there is a very good chance there will be day one DLC. My guess would be Akuma.
Most of us are expecting a month or so gap between the launch of the base game & first wave of DLC.

The only thing that I think is plausible when it comes to day one characters is being able to buy someone (probably Akuma) with Fight Money not long after launch. This way fight money is less nothing at launch and we get an extra character to test the fight money buying process with.

This is true , we would have a whole lot of complaints from Shitaku and people who dont play the game.
Even if they are free unlockables. Kotaku and gaming media would whine about how hard and time consuming it is ( As if OG fighting games werent ).
Well, they already kinda do have it in the form of the retailer-specific costumes. We at least know that much.
Plus, it's still Capcom we're talking about. I may like their games but I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw 'em. Maybe additional input from Sony (who's no saint themselves) will keep them from doing anything that completely shits the bed, though.

I'd like to see Dhalsim back too. He was initially one of the first I tried to main SFIV, but I didn't work out. I don't like him in that game much.

They've already made it clear that the base game includes 16 characters at launch and people seem okay with that. Would it somehow be worse to have the option of buying/earning one more?
I know, I know, it's an insult to the consumer. If the character is ready, why isn't it included in the base game? But again, most people seem fine with 16 characters for 60 dollars. Despite all the bitching that fills the roster thread, nobody is claiming the base game is a poor value.
