MGSV: Konami Offline Tax for players who opt out of FOBs

I am under the 5 million GMP cap. When I go offline a large percentage of my GMP and vehicles become inaccessible to me. How does this benefit me as the player? I understand how it benefits Konami and their desire to con me into buying insurance, but how does it benefit me?
I quit playing around mission 15 or 16. I just... lost the motivation. That's when I started reading all the spoiler stuff about stuff later in the game and it's all just reaffirmed me being completely finished (as far as I'm concerned) with this game...

Get the wormhole upgrade, do mission 12, fulton the 7.5k containers of fuel and container of precious metals, grab the intel near it, repeat mission.
FOBs can only steal unprocessed materials, but yeah. To get back 20k fuel takes like 5 minutes and you can get a lot of precious metal out of it too which sells for a ton of GMP.
I know what you are going to say that won't flow away from these basic ideas
- you get more back by invading others, a lot more potentially
- FOB is extra revenue even if it just sits there
- level up your FOB and maintain it, what you lost does not matter
Guess what. That puts you exactly into Konami's game to want everyone online to participate and punish others who don't have time to continue nursing their game while they are not even playing the game. Not everyone who wanna play MGS and buys the game wanna play clash of clans.
The extra things FOB give is practically required and is balanced well to make you believe they are not in end game. You can theoretically get lv99 without FOB but that is practically unfeasible. Guess what this is? free to play game design philosophies that are designed to make you pay up as well.
Bottom line- TPP is not marketed as some free to play game, there's no place of these systems in there especially these changes are in effect 1 month after launch just feels like they are avoiding these systems to be reviewed by people that will affect sales.

If it's the container trick (fultoning the same container by restarting the mission a bunch) that's unrefined resources. It takes time for them to be processed. Time you might not want to commit.
Konami's slowly turning MGSV into a funnel for their microtransactions. It's what Blizzard did to Diablo 3's real money auction house, but in reverse (since Bliz removed it later).

You don't need most of the gear for single player though. Just the basics are enough.

I've never farmed in this game. I guess if you want to get everything in short period of time.
That is a real issue and something I hope that gets fixed as online traffic dies off, but that isn't OP's issue.

The same segment for the FOB platforms costs 72000 for those resources!
But yeah, the mission 12 farming works really damn well and is so quick.
anecdotal evidence: FOB invasion losses are not game destroying and only served as a temporary setback on developing the final struts on mother base/my FOB.
the way around this, which the money men at konami are hoping you don't take, is by trying to kill off the compulsive and collection oriented behavior in yourself that games tend to foster in players.
don't sweat the invasions. direct contract your best staff. occasionally fulton new staff and resources as you come across them, and they will more than plug the gap.

While I'm offline vehicles are capped at 3 while gun placements are at 6. However when I go online I see all my other ones sitting at my FOB. My guess is that it hides them while you're offline then when you logon it moves them into the FOB bank. Personally means little to me since I mostly just sell the things before connecting online.

it should be a one-time thing because there's no actual tax. it's just a one-time transfer based on the offline limit. so, if the limit is 100 and you passed mission 22 with 120, you would get -20 to your MB resources and +20 to your FOB resources
and any time you go over 100, the excess would go from your MB to FOB resources
but...that original -20 and +20 to that original 100 only happens once. so, any other 'dings' shouldn't be that original ding but just new transfers any time you go over 100....
and all those transfers are in your FOB pool (which sucks I guess if you never wanted to go online)

Because these have been known for like a month.
I didn't say it was nice, but if you like the game like I do then you do a little farming. It's not that big of a deal.
Not saying that, I can literally leave MGS for a week and come back to nothing affected and I play online and invade FOB's a lot. Most people are acting and saying that you will literally lose all of your resources by playing the FOB mode and that's not true, you can basically tell who's played and who's not played by those statements. I mean the thing is that you don't have to pay any money out of pocket for all the FOB's, I have the free one and I can do basically all I want which is screw around and have fun in the world

This is incorrect. While online I spent most of my GMP on upgrades and then disconnected. The game then subtracted 1,300,000 which put me in the red by over a million and triggered a cutscene at mother base. I'm not 100% sure, but I think this might have even been just before the game forced me to create a FOB, which is equally bs. You can't even exit the menu until you select build. Shit is insane.

I'm currently chewing through peace walker and ground zeroes in order to be caught up in preparation to play TPP.
It sounds like a heavily compromised game based on all these microtransactions, fob insurance, forced online or coercive online requirements.
I'm sure the core game is quality but it sounds like it is seeded with all sorts of bullshit.
At least I will always have the old games to go back to.

if everyone just declines the ToS each time they boot the game they'll never have to worry about this.

At this point you can't expect any of the reviewers having known this, review events, hype. or not. The version of MGS V we're playing now has become pretty different from the version we were all playing a month and a half ago. If anything it speaks to the ever changing state of a single video game now.

No problem! The rest of the resources come naturally (besides maybe common metal which can get kind of rare). Fuel is the worst since pretty much every structure requires it, so this helps to mitigate the time it takes to build new structures. You gotta wait for them to process which can take time, but at least you can replay/S rank missions and other stuff and it'll be done before you know it.

I don't think they really can with the way the save system works. Even if they took out the intel file from the beginning of mission 12, the worst that would happen is adding on another minute or two to get through the power station and reach the next checkpoint for the resources to get acknowledged. They're also unprocessed resources, too, so a chunk of them are at risk of being stolen as soon as you hit a check point.
It's not really based upon micro transactions, you only pay money to accelerate development and unlock the other FOB's, you get one for free.
FOB insurance is not required as nowadays invasions tend to happen less frequently.

I think Kojima or someone put it in the game. You can spawn at a certain location and every single time you do the truck is right there. Drop a decoy in front of it and hop into the back and go to sleep.
Thanks for not being lazy like I was. These are them. After this, put yourself in the back of a truck while you're at work or sleeping and watch your process materials skyrocket.

Mission 14 1x common metal. Use D walker with F ballista, super fast. I also fulton the couple enemies who happen to be around.
Mission 21 2x bio and 1x fuel (red) also a bunch of whites containers. you can use d walker with F ballista here too.
You realize the motivation is selling insurance, right? Even if half the player base chose to opt out of any of the online functionality, the half that doesn't could still engage with that stuff on their own. Everyone doesn't have to participate in order for those people to have fun.
Konami's "incentive" is self-serving, that's what people are bothered by. They don't want people playing offline because if they do, they won't have a reason to spend money on microtransactions. Period.
it's true. i was disconnected midway through a mission and when i got back to the ACC i was several million in the red.
