That doesn't change what Lamar is. Women may know Jerry Rice as the guy that was on a reality show, but it does nothing to change what he really is. News services referring to Lamar as a star of the Kardashians is moronic.

Jerry Rice is the greatest WR of all time. Odom was a good but forgettable NBA star. He's a reality show star.

This dude is probably dying and people are worried about what Nancy Grace calls him?

Should be better spent using that energy to use Odom as a catalyst to raise awareness for addiction and mental health.

Yeah, how dare people advocate for respecting the titles the man has earned in his life. We should all just call him boy.

Boy has been self destructive and ruined his life. Only updates worth salt are about his health status.

You can tell that to sports fans and really show fans.

Self-made multi-millionaire basketball star reduced to just a cog in the wheel of a family famous for being famous.

Yeah that's kind of disgusting. Lamar Odom made his name with an actual talent, and hard work. Sucks to see him relegated to a prop in the story of that talentless bunch of reality show stars.

People should really get a fucking clue about how poisonous this Kardashian shit is.

Quit boosting their ego and bringing fame to them when this has shit to do with them.

In recent days too, the Kardashians refused to stop exploiting Odom on that reality show, turning what appeared to be a lost soul in crisis reaching out to his ex-wife only to have his phone calls manufactured into Khloe-Kim argument fodder for one more dreadful episode.

Sex, drugs, a disconsolate Khloe, and Kobe leaving the Lakers locker room at the MGM Grand Arena to get to the hospital. Poor Lamar Odom, unwittingly delivering them a trailer
.

Wait, we're back to calling grown ass black men "boy" again?

I'm responding to the poster above who is ranting for some reason.

People are familiar with Lamar from a couple outlets, both of which he was a notable part of. I personally know him from the sports aspect, but I know plenty of people who are only aware of him from his shows.

For those who are unaware, the use of the word "boy" is extremely derogatory to some members of the black community as it was a commonly used term in the slave days to intimate the lack of agency or intelligence of slaves. Not that you guys do or don't know, but just for everyone else.

I have no problem respecting the man and what he's done, I'm just not concerned with with an attention seeking harpy like Nancy Grace or her audience thinks of him. Fuck'em.

I dont think you have to explain that to sanjuro. But personally I've had enough of his bullshit. Really isnt the first time I've noticed him...

I understand it completely, I'm not sure why rambis is deciding to use it here.

This is a sad story about a guy who wrecked his collegiate, professional, television career to his demons. Weighting his best accomplishments on his deathbed seems...out of place.

Rambis used it sarcastically, you saw an opportunity to use it on some bullshit and get away with it. FOH w/ that

Why is he bringing it up? Nobody in here is talking about that. Even Nancy Grace isn't even going for that, she is targeting the people in the shopping line talking about what that Kardashian guy did at a whorehouse.

This is sad. Can't even get the correct photo of him up. A quick google search is all it takes.

Glad Im not the only one. I've seen his shtick far too many times and have had enough.

pretty cool to see so many people sticking up for him. i don't know much about him personally, but it sounds like he has been a solid guy who has earned the respect and admiration of lots of people within the sports world over the years. i hope things turn around for him.

He was a talented player with the skills and size to do alot more than he did in the league. And supposedly great at helping his family/community. But despite his success he has had alot of tragedies and hard roads to face that his piles of money don't quite fix and not alot of people in his corner. I'm really sad for the guy.

WTF, did they just type NBA LAMAR into google image search, said 'fuck it typing is exhausting' and hit 'i'm feeling lucky'?
I think they just typed it and clicked the one that said "news" beside his name

Then clicked images and copied the first one there

I did all that and got the same picture, lol.

I think the most amazing thing is all the talk coming from NBA alumni. I always assumed he dogged it in terms of courtesy at the professional level, but nothing but wonderful things to be said. I don't even imagine what the best outcome is for him now, but a comfortable life can only be the best.

Haven't heard one bad thing said about him since this broke from the NBA past and present.

He still dogged it a bit. He had a very good NBA career, should have been great. Most of it surprises me because of this. I always assumed he wouldn't be one of the boys or something of that nature because of his lifestyle.

Magic Johnson and the comments by the Heat today just hit it home.

Here's DL Hughley speaking on the Kobe and Master P situation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AblDQtbwsx8
I really don't know what he's ultimately trying to say but does he actually know anything pertinent about the situation?

Plenty of people have had to deal with junkies. But by most reports, Lamar was working his way back into game shape until a call with Khloe this week set him off the deep end. Whats the point of this junkies gonna junk narrative?

The reason spoke on this situation is because Master P said that Kobe could have done more to help Lamar. He's basically saying that Master P doesn't know what Kobe has done for Lamar. At least that's what I got out of it.

It's the old adage, especially in dealing with addicts: You can't help someone until they are ready to help themselves. If Lamar was doing a 4 day coke bender in a brothel, he probably wasn't ready to help himself and thus, there is NOTHING Kobe or his wife or anyone else could have really done to help him.
