Transformers: Devastation |OT| Rising in Disguise

menosor was a right pain on magnus. super fast, super big, massive damage. only saving grace is that almost all of his attacks are pretty easy to read. But if he tornados and cross slashes while you're stuck in can't dodge mode you're real fucked.

if a weapon has a special ability (shoots waves, drills etc) it's always gonna be listed in the Y examine thing right? This star sabre or menosor's sword doesn't do shit, right?

Dark Starsaber shoots waves, but that is the only hidden ability I've noted so far.

/edit i also have serious problems with the fact that rush attacks, and rush attacks only, can break shields. Yo I have a HAMMER. I CAN TURN INTO A TRUCK. WHY CAN YOU PARRY TRANSFORM ATTACKS? you can't parry weaves son they're weaves. goddamn transformers

Not quite. At least some Charged attacks can also break shields.

also whoever decided that stuck not only means 'can't go into vehicle mode' but also means CAN'T DODGE can go suck on a lemon

Eh, it's not exclusively rush attacks.

The following all work against shields: charging your weapon's heavy attack (and the hammer's light attack too) + ground pound + Optimus' / Bumblebee's / Grimlock's special abilities + ultimates + reversals + vehicle finishers from combos. More than enough legroom to work with, really.

I'm not actually getting a lot of reversal credits, where is the window for initiating these? Is it during the same window you'd trigger the max payne dodge? My go to in slo-mo is a burnout into a rush attack or a lariat.

The Max Payne dodge is the ranged reversal. The window for the two melee versions are the exact same.

You can break shields with a charged strong attack as well.

charging attacks at magnus is like asking to die. gotta stack more focus time techs

my latest roadblock is blitzwing with backup normies. No selling EVERYTHING holy shit. Once you clear the first wave it's three giant soldiers + blitzy moving like a purple bruiser through the wreckage. Insane.

By the way the parry transform attacks thing wasn't aimed at shieldies only, pretty much everybody seems to be able to parry transform attacks at random. I kinda feel like, sure, normal attacks whatever, but transform attacks are TRANSFORM ATTACKS.

only blitzwing, megs and the fatties should be able to eat those without flinching

The hammer has the luxury of retaining an active charge after dodging, so there's your way around that.

Buffer the palm thrust when going for a Vehicle Attack. If they parry, you can cancel out of the staggering animation on reaction and if your Overdrive is filled up to at least orange, you should get another Vehicle Attack out of it.

wait what the fuck this game is actually good? Like DMC3 good or more like God of War-ish good?

I'd say it's pretty awesome. A fast-paced Bayonetta-lite on higher difficulties.

Having trouble with this protect this second protect Wheeljack section on Magnus difficulty, any tips? Haven't even managed to get up to the part where you need to take out two claw things lifting the platform yet (saving my damage boost items for that section). It's just getting a bit too overwhelming around the 40% onward stage. [Playing as Bumblebee]

Edit: Just got it, damn that was satisfying. Only an A ranking, but I'll take it after half a dozen tries.

Magnus drops shit on Commander drops. You'll be getting some really good S rank items and might get a few SS ones. Lv 23 is a weird level to stop at though. Grade A weapon that hasn't been maxed? They cap at lv 30.

I've found the synthesizing to be a little confusing. Should I synthesize it with other weapons to increase its Level even if the attack power, etc. don't increase? I'm just doing it when I get a demonstrable increase in attack power.

Is it just me or is this the least forgiving parry window game they've made so far? Combined with the lack of Prime Time when you do it successfully it's not really a winning strat unless you're caught in an Elite Seeker melee combo or something.

Just finished my first run through at normal difficulty. Either I'm getting better at action games or this game is much easier on the standard difficulty.

Also, ending spoilers,
What was the blueprint prime looking at right before the credits rolled?

I'm not impressed Jintor until I know your grade.

Difficulty can fluctuate a lot depending on how good your weapons, tech, and character stats are.

As for the ending
if I'm not mistaken it's the blueprint for Optimus Maximus, a new combiner with Prime as its core.

B on that final stage. Had to use items against Menosaur and Devastator, just couldn't tank enough hits without the hard coating

it's best games in the universe good!

maybe both. try commander next to get ready for hammers on magnus ;)

? Every single actual level up increases the power of the weapon. Level by level increases aren't that impressive, but the difference between a base weapon and a fully leveled one can be big indeed, especially on the more unique weapons that seem to have much higher attack potential. On SS rank, the maxed out difference between Magna Shot and Heavy Machine Gun, weapons utterly identical in purpose and basic function, is staggering. The Magna shot has around 3 times as much pure damage per shot.

You can get Prime Time off of a parry, but it's a bit of a headscratcher why it'll trigger sometimes and when it won't.

I think the Sniper Rifles might have an early high potential on normal/warrior. They have such a high damage, and the fact that it auto locks on means you can just snap-aim and do single shots really easily.

Gonna do a couple of challenges on Warrior before starting commander difficulty.

One gripe I have is that it's annoying to shuffle weapons between characters. It won't let you equip an item held in the primary slot of another character.

Going to pick this up this week. Looks to good to pass up, and I want to support the dev for making the TF game we have all wanted. Now someone make a GI Joe game based on the cartoon.

Holy shit LHK, I keep forgetting you're on GAF. You probably don't remember me from the GameFAQs DMC2 forum prerelease hype (yeah, that one turned out well :/).

Anyhow, much closer to DMC3 in gameplay (it's a P* game through and through) but not really close to either of them in content. It's still very much worth playing (as someone who hasn't bothered to complete any GOW). In terms of gameplay it's more like Bayonetta with not nearly as many weapons, plus some elements from Rising and Vanquish. Transformation attacks replace Wicked Weaves, and so on.

I thought the same thing. Which COULD mean a potential sequel would have us play Prime, Ironhide, Prowl, Mirage and Sunstreaker.

I just bought CW Prowl and Mirage yesterday, heh. Probably will pick Hound and Wheeljack to mak a limb set.

With the exception of weapons that don't have stats to begin with, all of them increase on level up. What's happening is that you're fusing them and adding some experience but not yet reaching a new level.

Ah, ok. I was unclear. When I would look at the potential results of synthesizing, if the weapon didn't increase its stats, I didn't follow through. I didn't realize that the weapon level gains were incremental and that the stat increases only popped up at each level.

I should have, given the progress bar. Oh well.

Holy shit, maxed out SS Menacor Drills make EVERYTHING a complete joke with the charged attack. That guy who made the video about them wasn't kidding.

The big black and red hammer guys? 2 hits.
Insecticons? 1 hit.
Ancient Insecticons ? 2 hits.
Combiners ? Lol I dunno, 6 hits?
Even Blitzwing is knocked back by that attack!

Best of all? That's on Prime difficulty.

[EDIT] Here's my weapon:

Finally had time to properly dive into the challenges and these crazy boss combinations are really fun. The complete visual overload of Soundwave plus anybody else explains why they were so careful about audio cues, haha, the Vanquish-esque gun counter is quite useful in those.

Just finished again but this time on Commander difficulty. The only issue I had was the
Devastator and Menasor fight
, I died quite a lot.

I'm so glad this turned out to be a rather good game. I'm enjoying it a lot. If there are more Activision games, I want them to be given more of this budget and not whatever budget they got for Korra.

I'll give Magnus difficulty a go tomorrow.

I only learned that this game existed earlier today when I was just looking around in Target. I went online to check things out, saw clips and screencaps and my first thought was "but show me some images of the actual gameplay".

I then realized that I WAS looking at images of actual gameplay.

Incredible.

I don't care about any of the negatives, I must get this game now. It looks amazing!

Didn't even know I was playing the game on commander until I just beat the game awhile ago wtf???!

The only thing I found odd about my playthrough was how they were instakilling wheeljack because he was taking so long. Otherwise, I ran through this game.

Apparently around chapter 3 my game went up to commander from warrior? Dayummmm. Solid game tho.

you might've hit RT or RB by accident on the chapter select screen at some point if you didn't use the Continue Game... or changed the difficulty in the Arc or something

It's been in the top 3 pages since launch! Where have you been Downhome !?!

Speaking of Bee, I never knew how much kids dislike his tiny car form. My Lil bro and cousin call his alt mode in this game Mr.Bean's car.
