Vancouver Granville is going to be interesting with Leadnow trying to fuck the game up with their sham NDP endorsement. I'd vote Green but the riding's going to be too tight.
Alright let's do this.
Market is slowly adjusting for a Liberal win. Loonie is free fallin' at the moment.

Hmm, I wonder if a candidate has ever done this, pretending to be the opposition so in case they lose, maybe they can still get in if it gets reported.Report it.

Beyond sports, one can simply look to the stock market for additional examples of our causation fixation run amok. Each day, numerous indices -- the Nasdaq, the S&P 500, the Dow, the Nikkei, etc. -- move up and down, and every downturn, every upswing, is attributed to something, whether it's solid jobs data, poor consumer confidence, boosted home sales, troubles in Europe, or a captivating news story.
Nassim Taleb noted how ridiculous this is in his book The Black Swan. In the hours after former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was captured on December 13th, 2003, Bloomberg News blared the headline, "U.S. TREASURIES RISE; HUSSEIN CAPTURE MAY NOT CURB TERRORISM." Thirty minutes later, bond prices retreated and Bloomberg altered their headline: "U.S. TREASURIES FALL; HUSSEIN CAPTURE BOOSTS ALLURE OF RISKY ASSETS." A more correct headline might have been: "U.S. TREASURIES FLUCTUATE AS THEY ALWAYS DO; HUSSEIN CAPTURE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM WHATSOEVER," but that isn't what editors want to post, nor what people want to read.
Tonight is gonna be crazier than an episode of Gotham!

Dude was on my ballot. I'm hoping for some delicious right-wing vote splitting.
Expect every party to work with every other party on an issue by issue basis.
We're not going to see a Liberal/NDP enlightened left wing coalition government. The Liberals will use the NDP to pass legislation when it serves them, and the Conservatives in other situations when the NDP balks at support.
Similarly at some point I'd expect the NDP to team up with the Conservatives to put the pressure on a Liberal government on something or other.
I expect the NDP and Conservatives will feel no reservation voting down bills that won't trigger any kind of confidence motion.
That said, if it's a majority, then it doesn't matter. Any NDP MPs that survived from last term should just be glad that they have enough tenure to collect a pension and spend the rest of the time planning their next careers. lol
You know, I wonder who is supposed to pay to staff those offices anyway. I guess it's not the tax payer. lolWe're in the same riding! Him being the leader explains why the Christian Heritage Party seems to have more signs up than the NDP.
Absolutely! I'd hope that the opposition parties would take their roles seriously, regardless of how many seats they win. But a formal arrangement between the Harper-less Conservatives and the NDP to keep the CPC in power would probably not end up so well for the NDP.
Yeah, about that...
...so I heard you guys aren't too keen on Harper.
So anyway… I have resigned as editor of Editorials and Comment for the National Post, effective immediately. I will remain a columnist.
Yep. As a Conservative, this thread is anything but a general election thread. It certainly feels like people are voting NDP/Liberal more out of extreme dislike for Harper than for actually supporting the other two parties' platforms.

I hope you might like it! If you hate my voice, just turn off the sound xD.
Good election day people ! And i'm open to feedback, good or bad!
There has been a looot of talk about platforms. All three. A good portion of this thread is highlighting the differences between the liberal and NDP platform, as the majority in this thread want to vote for one or the other. The conservative platform had been mentioned here or there, but no one seems fond of it. I think it would be great if you could share something of the conservative party that you think highlights their strong platform, just for diversity.Yep. Except that it was the liberal policies that helped raise it and protect it/us from the last recession in the first place. I don't vote liberal but c'mon. Don't be a fucking idiot.Market is slowly adjusting for a Liberal win. Loonie is free fallin' at the moment.

i think the link has crashed, why did he resign?
Lol, are you serious?
I have less rights compared to other Canadians thanks to Harper, he's effectively separated Canada based on racism and fear.
Oh wait and the economy, yea how's that looking under his watch?

CANADALAND has learned that though Coyne the editor has signed off on an official National Post Harper endorsement, Coyne the columnist planned to endorse a different candidate under his own byline in the paper tomorrow.

I'm a Muslim so... Trudeau's and Mulcair's defense of me and mine kinda really puts them at odds with Harper using my family as a wedge issue.
Also they're not pro crippling Statistics Canada and muzzling scientists so that's pretty nice too.

Genuinely curious why are you voting for Harper?Yep. As a Conservative, this thread is anything but a general election thread. It certainly feels like people are voting NDP/Liberal more out of extreme dislike for Harper than for actually supporting the other two parties' platforms.
Well, makes sense. They should talk about that on Power and Politics. lol
Coyne is one of the good ones.

Interference from ownership. They directed the editorial board endorsement, and then prevented him from running his own endorsement.
Apparently thats not Harper's fault either. He only had 10 years to prepare for any potential volatility.
Oh, please. Harper is indistinguishable from the platform. He stumbled into a well regulated banking sector and a commodities boom and claimed economic success. The rest of their high-profile items have been avoiding accountability, reducing the effectiveness of public institutions, and fighting the Supreme Court. The military is still underfunded, the procurement process is still a mess, and they campaign on divisiveness and reducing politics to your tax bill. It's a disgusting approach to politics.Yep. Modern conservatism is a cesspool of thinly veiled racism, scientific censorship and denial, and ideology-based laws that skip facts and proper review. You're free to believe what you want and vote how you want, but don't think people are hating on Conservatives and Harper "just because".
Genuinely curious why are you voting for Harper?
My comment was in relation to what I see regularly on this thread or on my Facebook feed about "voting Harper out of Ottawa."
