Fast and the furious 7 theatrical trailer got 100 million views in its first 48hours, this one latest is on 29 million currently on youtube, wonder if theres a lot of non football fans out there who dont know it exists yet, or a just skipping the trailer, or have lost interest already

No ones died from the OT cast, so I doubt it'll get that sort of buzz. May sound harsh, but without Paul Walker's tragic death, FF7 wouldn't have boxed anywhere near what it did.

Are you sure the furious 7 trailer number was just youTube, or internet wide? Because iTunes and Facebook rack up a a lot of views. But yeah this trailer is not getting anywhere near the views the last got on youTube at least. Last one went for 30 million in a day (88 internet wide). This one did in almost two.

The Furious 7 trailer doesn't even have 100 million views as of today.

Theatrical is even less than that.

star wars has my permission to burst after episode 9

before that though i'm so down for the journey. rogue one sounding la flame too, the han solo idea..not so much.

man i'm getting the sense that they are taking the OG trilogy brother/sister angle and inverting it to make it into a villain/hero dynamic.

would be a nice balance between pandering to nostalgia and doing it's own thing. i just get the feeling that kylo and rey are both skywalkers

edit; and again for those that are too informed please don't reply to this or anything.

One other thing that really stuck with me from the trailer were the lines from Rey & Finn.

"I'm no one."
"I have nothing to fight for."

It really gets to me because it reminds me of one the biggest parts that stuck with me from Star Wars, Luke's longing for adventure. When I rewatched it on Amazon a few weeks ago, seeing Luke's melancholy over not being able to join the Imperial Academy really got to me. He's been a moisture farmer for all his life and he wants something greater that's out there, he wants his life to have a sense of purpose.

IDK, maybe it's because I'm only 18 but it just really stuck out to me, the binary sunset scene especially. But when you combine it with those lines from Rey & Finn and how they want a sense of purpose, it already creates a motif throughout the Star Wars saga. You have this running theme of young people being caught up in a universe far bigger than they could imagine all for the same purpose, finding who they are.

That's just a really big reason why I like the OT so much despite only really being interested in Star Wars recently. Every teen has that longing of being a part of something greater, and Star Wars reflects that but it just puts that longing on a much more grander scale. There's just so many different things I could pick apart but that's what really gets to me the most.

From what I gathered the relationship between Rey and Ren and also whether they are Luke's or Leia's children is kept a secret. Not even the hardcore spoiler bunch knows.
Who knows maybe not even JJ and the writers know yet, similar to OT Star Wars..
I really hope Kylo is not Han's and Leia's son though. That feels like it undermines their characters completely.
"Ey honey remember when we kinda defeated the Empire and made that lovechild right after? Yeah he is now leading an Imperial cult with an even bigger superweapon".

I've watched this thing like 20 times and the moment that han/leia theme kicks in gives me chills every time

mines the light speed jump followed by the "force theme". that transition from the old sfx from '77 to modern CGI and also the music is such a great modernization of star wars imo.

plus the x-wings and tie fighters god damn.

Isn't that light-speed jump effect the same warp-speed effect he used on the Enterprise in Star Trek Into Darkness?

I don't know. I could see a scenario where Han and Leia have a child, Luke attempts to train him but he ends up turning to the dark side, becomes obsessed with Vader and turns on Luke and any other Jedi he may have trained. It sounds relatively plausible. Pure speculation though.

I dunno, the child of the Princess of the Rebellion and General Solo, the charismatic smuggler scoundrel becomes a Vader fanboy and with
starkiller base as a solar system destroying Death Star III lookalike
becomes even more evil than what they fought so hard to destroy? It feels like this totally kills their sacrifices from the OT, makes them look like worst parents ever and makes Luke look like an asshat teacher.

I suppose. But for comparison's sake, can you really blame Anakin's turn to the dark side on Obi-Wan being a poor teacher? Hard to argue with the bad parents bit though. It might feel a bit forced.
