Finally a new Plinkett Star Wars video just dropped

Just saw this on era.

I lost respect for them when they were so softball on Disney Star Wars in whichever one was done around the time of TFA and TLJ. I don't feel they applied the same level of scrutiny as they did on their prequel videos.

I found out about Plinkett lurking in this very forum in the good old days of money and fame,. And even though I never watched a Star Wars movie, reading the comments about it being sooo funny, made me watched it and I got hooked. I still don't watch anything Star Wars related on its own but I'll sure watch that new Plinkett video when I get home later today.

Its a great analysis and I agree with most of his points. Its impossible to be terribly invested in the IP anymore with such a glaring lack of direction or leadership. Really feel like the sequel trilogy should have been an adaptation of KOTOR instead, for 2 reasons

1 - they would at least have a structural blueprint and basic plan for the story
2 - the setting is far removed from both the civil war and the clone war. It has its own ships, its own droids, its own planets, its own distinct feeling.

Honestly not his best video. It's 40 minutes of padding to tell you three things. 1) Star Wars is oversaturated. 2) The Acolyte copies a lot of story beats in the prequel trilogy. 3) Kids who watched the prequel trilogy like it because of nostalgia. It still sucks, but at least it's weird and not the usual corporate shit out now. The end.

It's a fun watch, but he's really not saying anything here that other people haven't already said. I think the only interesting perspective he adds is this revaulation people have of the Prequels, that they were actually good, even though The Acolyte is the closest thing in the Disney Era to the Prequels. Which it absolutely is.

It is weird seeing RLM defend Acolyte though. They're coming off as contrarions on that one.

I almost feel sad for the people who keep clinging on a movie series from 50 years ago and just refuse to let Star Wars die.

How many more times do you want to see the mangled corpse of your childhood friend get raped by the ruthless soulless megacorp before enough is enough?

At least the prequels told a coherent story. I still to this day have no idea what the story of The Acolyte was.

Anyway, here's an episode where the crew(except for Rich) get so wasted they need to pause it to the next day:

Agreed. I think he adjusted his views on the Disney trilogy though. They were pretty positive about those for a while. I also feel like I've heard him/them say before that they were done with Star Wars. There's only so many times and ways you can say you don't care anymore.

Still an enjoyable vid though.
