well not really an official announcement, but this

http://www.forbes.com/pictures/mlm45flmjl/the-forbes-fab-40-the-wo/

which was enough for Harmy to stop on the project.

if it ends up being bullshit then Im sure Harmy will finish perfecting rotj
lol why did you link to that? There has been no announcement, official or otherwise. All indications is the 4k remaster is not the originals. Lucasfilm story group saying the originals are not canon doesn't help either.

Oh and Harmy didn't stop his ROTJ project. He is still working on it. No idea why you would assume that. He actively posts updates.

last i read in his very rotj thread, everything i stated was the case. i also never said it was officially announced. maybe if I used the word "rumor" it would have been better. Sorry to the people who take everything literally

Harmy has implied that he's not going to continue working on this because of the impending official release, so I wouldn't bother at this point.

dont take what im saying like its the constitution tho. just stating what I read.

thanks for playing tho.

I'm working on editing together a lot of the footage into one big trailer. I've seen the Science vs. Cinema one and I felt the editing could have been better. Here's a quick glimpse at the beginning. Would anyone be interested in a finished version, or should I just drop it?

After checking some of the old stuff I just realize that the light sabers are now casting a colored light unlike in the OT and PT.

They cast light in the prequels, at least at times.

He has stated just this month it is still being worked on, no timing for release. He has never stopped it due to any sort of "impending" official release. Not sure where you got that but it is not from Harmy. Someone must have gave you some bad info.

There is no impending official theatrical releases, and Harmy hasn't stopped his fan-edit.

Disguise? He was in hiding on a planet with no one else around, he didn't need a disguise.

Plus that would be the worst disguise since Clark Kent's glasses.

He would just be seen as an old insert-species-here.
Of course that was one of many, many things ruined by the EU.

theres the thread. read it for yourself

just stating what I read in that very thread whicch he created.

maybe your personal relationship with harmy makes you privy to more info. if thats the case oh well? then we still get a better version regardless, so hurray?

oh, and you know for a Fact there will be no release of unaltered versions beyond the shadow of a doubt? ok.

edit> i missed harmys post, again hurray we still get a better version of rotj? shit is almost perfect anyways

I read that thread often, trust me he never said he is stopping it due an impending official release. We may get a official one one day but it is by no means impending. We haven't heard a single rumor about such a release.

I still have a little hope the theatrical versions will see the light of day on Blu-Ray.

The fact we have heard from multiple legitimate sources that the upcoming 4k transfer being working on by Lucasfilm are not the originals makes that harder and harder to hold on to. At least in the near future.

i have no doubt they will. the question imo is when. time will tell

We may get a official one one day biut it is by no means impending. We haven't heard a single rumor about such a release.

but we did hear a rumor. what are you talking about? unless your defintion of a rumor defers from what it actually is

But i wonder why the remaining empire/sith worship the remains of darth vader instead of the superior emperor palpatine?
Or is that because he killed him?

We have not gotten any actual rumors of any such thing. Speculation? Yes. But no rumors. On the other hand we have gotten multiple leaks and rumors the upcoming 4K transfers are not the theatrical editions.

Most people didn't know Palpatine was a Sith.

Vader was the most prominent Forcer user in the galaxy.

Palpatine was the puppet master, behind the scenes. Vader was the poster boy of the empire. The Justin Bieber of the dark side.

we got a rumor. and from the rumor lead to speculation. literally, thus why websites and blogs were speculating based on the rumor. how do you not comprehend this?

There has bee no actual rumors. Not one. Speculation based on hope of a release, yes. But there has been not a single legitimate rumor of any such release. It's all speculation and hope. We have gotten no indications any such release is in the works.

I have no idea where you saw this rumor (an actual legitimate rumor), because it does not exist.

you can literally google the speculation based on the rumor. hell, I linked one of the websites speculating on the rumor. a rumor is a rumor. can be legitimate or not but a rumor is a rumor regardless which is why, Again, sites and blogs were speculating. I seriously cant understsnd how you cannot grasp this simple concept

Swear Cheebo competing with BobbyRoberts for all-time curt, matter-of-fact responses in Star Wars threads.

I have seen Bobby also dismiss the idea there is any actual rumors/leaks of a unaltered SW trilogy release as well. Wanting something to be rumored exist doesn't mean it's actually rumored to exist.

You linked to a sports forbes thing. You have a link of an actual informed rumor? I would love to read that.

They found out his name is Sheev. Hard to worship a dude named Sheev.

Vader was the face of the Empire compared to how shadowy the Emperor himself was.

Good points, i guess he was hidden moré than the EU suggested

wierd, i cut and pasted the link but somehow the link got changed to something else? i corrected it tho. meant to link this

but you can also google and find it as there were many sites and blogs speculating based off a rumor

another for good measure

Name got a space in it now. People can just call me Bobby! (Or "that asshole" depending on whatever it is I just did.)

To answer the earlier questions (I was getting my Karin on in the SFV beta) Lucas was hands-off on the Empire production. He was staying at home and handling LFL business, such as it was, and Gary Kurtz was riding herd over the Empire production, with Kershner directing. Kurtz and Kershner had a TON of freedom. Lucas did write like 3 drafts of the script himself, with Kasdan pitching in another couple during and after, but once production actually started, he was hands off.

And then Kurtz couldn't get Kershner to deliver shots on time, and there were problems with the shoot overseas multiple times, and then the production got off-schedule by quite a bit, and the costs started mounting, and basically, it got so shitty at one point that Lucas, who was feeling really good about the financial independence afforded him by Star Wars' success, had to go back to 20th Century Fox and ask for more money, at which point they hammered him for it.

Which is why Kurtz didn't produce Jedi, Kazanjian did.

But it's hard to argue he hired Marquand to be a "hired gun" when the guy he was trying to get before that was fucking David Lynch - who is nobody's hired gun. Kazanjian was there to make sure production overruns didn't happen like they did on Empire (he was actually breathing down Kurtz's neck at the tail end of Empire, I believe? It's in the making of book, at any rate) but Marquand was given freedom to shoot what he wanted. It's just that once the footage was turned in, Lucas basically completely took over in post.

Thanks sir. That Empire magazine tweet wasnt correct it turned out. Rebel Force Radio dug into it about a few weeks back and pulled the audio from the actual Q&A and found that Empire misinterpeted what Landis was saying.

oh werd...

still was a rumor tho. rumors arent always factual, thus why they are rumors

Vader was the face of the Empire compared to how shadowy the Emperor himself was.

It's actually the opposite. Palpatine was beloved by the (core world) galactic population and held up as the "bravest man in the galaxy". Most people who never saw his real face (since propaganda videos showed him looking like he did pre-meltyface) believed he was a nice guy, a brilliant elderly statesman who guided the Republic through its darkest times but who became somewhat reclusive as emperor and was possibly being influenced by the Imperial Ruling Council. In other words, they thought of him as the grandfatherly figure who everyone could rally around a figurehead. By contrast, Vader was a mysterious figure who most people didn't even know about for years because once you saw him you were dead. He was known within the military and government but was outside the bounds of regular hierarchy as Palpatine's hitman and nobody knew what to make of him - whether he was a former Jedi, some sort of war machine like General Grievous, a droid, or what. He didn't assume a more public persona until resistance started to ramp up closer to the time of the Rebels tv series, around which point he becomes a prominent figure carrying out "pacifications" like the massacre on Kashyyyk.

We don't know if the First Order is obsessed with Vader. We know that Kylo Ren is. That's because Kylo Ren is Force sensitive and would obviously idolize Vader, who was openly Force sensitive, and not Palpatine, who was secretly Force sensitive.

God this scene is terrible.
What? This is like the one good part of the duel.

I swear, people complain about literally everything in the prequels, even when they do something right.

Okay, so even with me seeing all 6 films in order, I am not that into the series, so I might have missed something, but in this trailer we clearly see Captain Phasma. Now, has she been in any canon works at all, or is this film the debut of the character? Keep hearing mixed things, yet don't wanna spoil myself.

So people are referencing Harmy's despecialized editions... did that Adyan or whatever guy ever finish his 2.0 of Empire Strikes Back? His Star Wars was pretty sweet (bascially if you dont know, color correction, bunch of little fixes that never got fixed, some enhancements). Feels like an eternity ago that ESB was supposed to come out.

Anyone follow that stuff?

edit: though you were talking about harmy

There's a character, I think it's in the newer comics, that seems like it could be her. It's a female Imperial officer, I think? Somewhat resembles Christie.
