That's not even the worst

Wow, they nailed Bork's entrance in this one.

Anywhere I can find a cheap new copy of WWE 2K14 for PS3? I prefer used, but I forgot about paying $10 for online pass :(

I was going to preorder this, but decide to just rent it. Looks so disappointing and was hoping this would FINALLY be the year for Yukes :(

It's from a game that's 12 years old.

and nothing has come close.

I never played Here Comes the Pain, but I did watch some videos to see how the generally flowed. I didn't play many wrestling games on PS2, as DOR on GameCube was my choice.

But, HCTP looks pretty arcadey. Not sure I can get a feel for that. And let's not pretend all games are guilty of glitches ;)

But I must admit the 2K ones are pretty funny.

That's so fucking depressing.

The game barely left my PS2 for the first year it came out. The limb damage, the blood, the graphics, the roster, the career mode, the match types, the general gameplay, the CAWs, that shit was revolutionary for the time man, not just by wrestling game standards either.

Still waiting for another game to recapture that. Though I guess the quality of the games reflects the quality of the product, so that's never happening.

HCTP is a blast to play multiplayer, especially backstage. But when you've got DoR2, there's rarely a reason to switch from it.

In HCTP, can I take a WWE superstar through a career mode? Or, do I need to make a CAW?

People really need to stop posting that Impact bullshot as what the Booker model looked like in-game

Nothing as bad as the 12 model though

Day of Reckoning series suffered from equally dumb AI but I agree it was pretty fun to play. I just hated the limited scope of the CAW system, as back then I wanted to make my ROH and Indy favourites and it wasn't always possible.

Had another look at Austin's real WM13 entrance, and I didn't think 2K/Yukes could get any fucking lazier when it came to actually emulating his movements. Jeeeesus. It's even worse than the previous animation that they'd been reusing since 2006.

he looks like a fan doing the Austin entrance

Someone at THQ had a real soft spot for him I think, especially with him taking over Big Shows spot in the No Mercy main title story modes.

Stevie being the wrestler was simply because he was the next in the database of characters.

It lists it as:

Show The Big
Steve Austin
Stevie Richards

Due to the way nicknames and names were stored with coding etc and it made for a quick way of addressing WWF's needs in removing the Big Show at the last minute especially as Austin was not a viable choice for obvious reasons.

That's mo-cap, not animation. They usually have random indy stars/jobbers do the mo-cap. Damien Sandow said that he did some this year, specifically Randy Orton's entrance.

"Mizdow admitted that doing the mo-cap for
Randy Orton’s entrance in WWE 2K16 was difficult for him. Mizdow said he had a hard time mimicking Orton’s unique style of walking. Jericho butted in and said Orton kind of dangles when he walks to the ring. Mizdow said it took him several takes to get Orton’s entrance right."

I guess Austin's entrance was a "one and done" thing then.

I agree. I understand other people doing the mocap for wrestlers no longer active or unable to do their entrances anymore, but for the active roster? Get that shit outta here Yukes.

It was probably cheaper to have one guy do a bunch of entrances than have everyone do their own.

When will the accelerator be up on the ps4? Morning of release or will it be one of those way late in the afternoon when the store decides to update sort of deals? Can't remember from last year.

I always liked Shut Your Mouths career starting with the draft.

That is to this day my favourite Story/Career mode. Draft and if you were a CAW, you started on Heat and worked your way up. If you were a Superstar, you started on whatever brand and went through like that.

It was awesome.

I'll get 2K16 later on, hopefully when it's cheaper. I enjoyed last years but it didn't feel full price enjoyable to me I guess?

Also that gif at the top is funny as fuck hahaha.

Why wouldn't they get Orton to do his own entrance? He isn't dead
Haven't they been doing this forever? Only thing I can think of is that they can't just mo cap something before a Raw or Smackdown and need to have it done in a proper studio. And I can easily see a big star being all 'lolno' I'm not flying out to wherever 2K is based to mocap an entrance for little/no money.

I thought 2K said when they got they license, they traveled with WWE to the shows to do much of what they were doing.

They couldn't set up a mocap room during shows that were in the same place for a few days and knock them out?

Dunno, maybe they need the full scale of ramp and ring it for it not to look weird or something. I agree it's pretty silly. Even in a small room you could mo cap the poses etc to be accurate.
