I've always thouvht that although the original 2003 Clone Wars cartoon wasn't "officially" canon that because the actual canon material never conflicted that we could still regard it aa actually happening. Did the later cartoons contradict the original series at all? I would think Filoni would have a bit of reverence for the cartoon considering how amazing it is.

There were some minor contradictions but regardless, I think the Lucasfilm position now is that the old EU elements are not-canon until made canon and not the other way around.

Are you all implying that Dexter Jettster wasn't the best new Star Wars character?

does he actually appear in the clone wars show at all?
I never realized it until just now.

He has a mustache.

Remember Jabbas Baby?

Always found it odd that nothing ever came out of this revelation. Outside of TCW, we still haven't seen him in any comics, games or what have you. Maybe we'll see him as a young adult in Rebels or as a full grown one in the new movies.

Who's the best clone: Fives, Gregor, or 99?

None of the above.
His custom-made armor just screams "Badass"

I've been really enjoying Rebels but I need to give Clone Wars another chance. All I ever saw was the movie, which was excruciating.

The movie is by all means, BAD. Like super bad. Only the first 20 minutes where Ahsoka is introduced are worth it. After they leave to Tatooine...OH BOY

But that's because they were 5 episodes stitched together into a movie, it looked horrible and the plot was not good for a cinema experience. George wanted to show this as a "movie" as a marketing strategy, but it backfired immensely.

Thankfully, he and the team learned their lesson and made something legendary after that misfire.

Really wasn't that big on Clone Wars until about Season 3 like you mentioned. By then, I was really in to it minus a few arcs (Jar Jar ugh). I really loved the insight in to the clones particularly and the surprisingly mature (for a kids show) take on war (people die all the time in this show).

Rebels season 1 was just ok, but I have higher hopes for S2 considering the returning characters involved. Really interested to see what
Asohka's
been up to. Also Chopper is the best.

Rebels and Clone Wars spoilers

Rex revealing he removed the chip in Rebels shows just how much he trusted Fives. Really awesome.

Also great seeing Rex and his buddies show the Empire that age can't stop badassery.

You mean Star Wars forums LIED to me!?

Not surprising, could you share the details?

I'm actually not entirely certain on whether this is true, but I think the deal was that WB would agree to air TCW on Cartoon Network if the "movie" was to be shown theatrically. Otherwise, I think it probably would have ended up as a TV special/premiere like it should have been.

Dexter himself doesn't appear, but a jedi general of the same species appears in one of the series' best arcs during season 4.

Is his physique like Dexter? Like what Plinkett said in his AOTC review I can't imagine someone that fat and clumsy looking partaking in fast-paced lightsaber duels lol.

Do you peeps that later down the line Disney will create a TV series that takes place in between Star Wars Episode 8 and Episode 9?

I finished the first two seasons though I stopped watching due to several reasons. I enjoyed what I watched and we'll probably continue watching once December rolls around.

After TCW, I'll need to watch Rebels. Any legal ways I can stream it?.

I'm more curious if they ever plan on producing the live action show that Lucas had a crapload of scripts for but shelved because it would have been too expensive to produce at the time. It took place between Ep3 and Ep4 so I'm sure it won't happen now that they're doing the Anthology movies but who knows. I'd really like to see what the plan for those were. They should just put the scripts online or something if they don't plan on using them.

Disney can probably use them to make an animated TV show.

They'd be crazy not to.
They're bridging stuff like crazy in the new canon.

At this rate we'll now the exact date and time Anakin had his first shit lol.

Holy shit I completely forgot about this. I remember being so hyped for years, and then forgetting about it when I started watching Clone Wars.

Why would there be a show between Episodes 8 and 9? We don't even know what happens in those movies yet.

A show between 6 and 7 makes much more sense.

There's already a series of comic books and books called Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens that take place between Episode 6 and 7.

Only partially. The young adult novels have brief snippets in their prologues and epilogues to set the tone for TFA, Shattered Empire and Aftermath only deal with three months after RotJ (as does Uprising), and Lost Stars only goes up to one year after Endor. New Republic: Bloodline will take place 6 years prior to TFA and I assume Tales from a Galaxy Far, Far Away, Bait, and The Perfect Weapon will all take place fairly close to TFA.

We still have 23 years left of story in the middle there.

What about Star Wars Special: C-3PO?

Probably won't happen. Lucas was a lot more open wallet than Disney overall. If it was too expensive even for Lucas its likely hopeless under Disney.

Clone Wars was killed off even with another 2-3 seasons in planning because Lucas was paying a fortune to make the show. It was not a huge money maker or anything. You could say it was Lucas's love letter to the fans addressing most issues people had with the prequels

Who knows!

But I think setting a show 5 years or so after RotJ would give them good space so that the comic and novel authors can set up what the post-RotJ world settles into, and then a show can take it from there. I'd like to see certain plots from the EU be adapted and it would be more fun to see them redone in animation rather than rewritten or made into comics. I don't mean lifting them wholesale but since the LSG isn't adverse to taking inspriation from the EU, I think there's a place for things like the various imperial warlords (which is already being set up), the Almanian Uprising, Centerpoint Station, etc. The not-so-ridiculous stuff. Who knows if they'll decide to redo any of those things though or come up with purely new material.

This show is by far my favorite Star Wars. Ashoka Tano is one of the my favorites too. When they first introduced her, I ended up not liking her as much. But by the end of the series, she turned into one of my favorite.

The Clone Wars TV show is pretty much exactly the type of storytelling and tone the prequels should be. Too bad it never finished cause what little of Season 6 we got was awesome as fuck.

Clone Wars is probably the one reason I'm looking forward to TFA. Really rekindled my interest in Star Wars.

I think the thing that Clone Wars doesnt get enough reapect for is its characterization of Anakin Skywalker. In a way it fleshed out his character enough to truly understand his mindframe and justifications in episode III.

His tension with the council, his relationship with obi-wan and it showed how awesome the relationship between Padme and Anakin.

In fact I firmily believe the prequel trilogy would have been better if the plot for episode 2 was used for Episode 1 and the clone wars narrative was used in Episode 2.

Order 66 after watching TCW becomes especially brutal as well.

I got so many shivers when I saw the "meeting" between padawan and master in rebels.

If TCW was left to continue would it have covered and expanded upon the contents of Star Wars Episode 3?

Filoni has said that the last season would have told what was happening with characters like Ahsoka and Rex who weren't in the film, during the events of the film. They wouldn't remake the film or anything within the show.

The main arcs they had in development for the rest of season 6 and season 7, as far as I know, were:

  • A four episode arc resolution of the Darth Maul and Mandalore plots (which we got in the form of a comic, although still with some loose plot strings)
  • 8 episodes (two arcs) involving Asaaj Ventress and Quinlan Vos (which became a novel)
  • A four episode arc about the Kaiber crystal that powers the Death Star (Which was in fact produced and you can find on Youtube, but was not fully animated)
  • Two four episode arcs about the "Bad Batch", a group of "non-optimal" clones who were produced. One of these arcs was produced and is on youtube but not fully animated, like the Kaiber crystal one.
  • An arc featuring Ahsoka in the "underworld" of Coruscant
  • An arc featuring the Yuuzhan Vong
  • An arc featuring an ancient Sith Temple in the lower levels of Coruscant
  • An arc where the bounty hunters all team up and Cad Bane is a father figure to Boba Fett
  • Telling what happens to Ahsoka and Rex during the event of Revenge of The Sith

Filoni is using Rebels to tie up some loose ends though so it is possible we will see some of these ideas re-appear.
