I hope Maul gets his resolution in Rebels. Darth Vader vs Maul would be awesome.
It would be interesting to watch since they have such different fighting styles.

I love how Darth Vader fights in Rebels. They took the slower old trilogy fighting and justified it.

True. His fighting is a style and a damn effective one. much better than the "Everyone should fight like that!" some fans want.

My assumption would be that he was supposed to die in the Siege of Mandalore. After Son of Dathomir
he's lost everything, Talzin's dead, and he has nowhere left to go. The only thing we know about him beyond that point is that there was concept art showing him in heavy robes, but there's really nowhere else logically the show can go other than him trying to re-establish control over Mandalore. Would've made a good exit if Obi-Wan got to kill him to avenge Satine.

Filoni has said that the last season would have told what was happening with characters like Ahsoka and Rex who weren't in the film, during the events of the film. They wouldn't remake the film or anything within the show.

The main arcs they had in development for the rest of season 6 and season 7, as far as I know, were:

  • A four episode arc resolution of the Darth Maul and Mandalore plots (which we got in the form of a comic, although still with some loose plot strings)
  • 8 episodes (two arcs) involving Asaaj Ventress and Quinlan Vos (which became a novel)
  • A four episode arc about the Kaiber crystal that powers the Death Star (Which was in fact produced and you can find on Youtube, but was not fully animated)
  • Two four episode arcs about the "Bad Batch", a group of "non-optimal" clones who were produced. One of these arcs was produced and is on youtube but not fully animated, like the Kaiber crystal one.
  • An arc featuring Ahsoka in the "underworld" of Coruscant
  • An arc featuring the Yuuzhan Vong
  • An arc featuring an ancient Sith Temple in the lower levels of Coruscant
  • An arc where the bounty hunters all team up and Cad Bane is a father figure to Boba Fett
  • Telling what happens to Ahsoka and Rex during the event of Revenge of The Sith

Filoni is using Rebels to tie up some loose ends though so it is possible we will see some of these ideas re-appear.

There's a few more things that were planned. The Vong thing may have been a one off episode also or just a concept that was never going to be fully developed.

The other episodes we know of that would have been produced are:
-some sort of arc focusing on Padme on an adventure of her own, because Filoni wanted to get her away from political episodes
-Yoda going to Kashyyyk (we've seen concept art of this one)
-an arc where Rex and R2 are on a mission together
-return to Mon Cala
-Siege of Mandalore

Not sure what arc it would have been (Siege of Mandalore perhaps?) but Ahsoka at some point was supposed to have her own group of loyal clones following her.

Yeah, Ahsoka was somehow going to be involved in the Siege. There's concept art of her
appointing Bo-Katan as the provisional leader of Mandalore
. How that works, I've got no idea.

The scene in Siege of Lothal where he
grabs Kanan's wrist
had me applauding. The whole fight did a great job at conveying how powerful Vader is.

I really wish DICE would do an Umbara Map for Battlefront. Would be an amazing Night combat map with all that neon glow

It would also be nice to play as the Umbarans with their weird insect bots and technology. Plus it would be a good jedi hunt map with Krell taking out troopers from the shadows like predator. I really, really hope there's someone at dice that has seen this show and knows how legit some of the battles were and how awesome they would be in battlefront.

Almost any Prequel environment would be amazing with DICE's level of detail. Unlike the OT, which were all plain locations due to the realities of filming movies back in the 70's/80's; the Prequel locations all have their own distinct personality.

That two-parter with Moff Tarkin in which they infiltrate a prison are two of the best episodes I've ever seen in an animated show. The editing and direction is probably the best on the show, really great scene transitions.

One thing that I liked about the Clone Wars was how it felt like we were getting closer to the General Grievous I loved.

You know, save for that episode where he lost to Gungans...

Fuck that episode.

Here it is, one of (if not the) most powerful, dramatic and sad moments in all of Star Wars canon:

I know there's not a lot of context in that shot by itself but I feel like it's really spoiler-y. I've seen lots of people in a few threads mention that they're just going through the series now. Not telling you what to do but maybe link instead of embed the image? Just a thought.

Also, I totally agree with you. I still get a little teary when I watch that scene. That music...

It's one of the reasons I'm pissed that the core game is going to be OT era only (and also one of the reasons I'm not buying the game). There's so many great locations, vehicles and enemies from the Prequels/Clone Wars, that it feels like such a waste to just focus on the OT.

I think you can spoiler tag images now too?

Good call, spoiler tagged the image link.

Cool cool. Again, you're totally right about that scene. It has become my favorite Star Wars moment ever. I would have never expected to feel that way given how the series - and that character in particular - started off.

Honestly, I feel like Grievous got really screwed in Clone Wars. He was featured heavily in the first seasons where he was essentially a Saturday morning, "I'll get you next time!" type villain. Then when they had a chance to really go all-in with him during the later seasons he was mostly shelved. He has a few appearances around then that are really cool, but lots of squandered potential.

Same with Ventress, but they actually dealt with the the whole "constantly fucking up and losing to the Jedi" thing in-universe in a really sensible and satisfying way, so props to them for that.

I am nearing the end of season 2 and really enjoying The Clone Wars. Ahsoka is easily the most exciting character to watch and the clones are also entertaining. Unfortunately, I've already spotted what looks likes spoilers in this thread, I will need to come back after I am done watching all the seasons.

Thanks to this series I dumped some money in the DI 3.0 set and having a lot of fun. Dual wielding Lightsabers as Ahsoka feels so badass. Next to get is the speedway expansion and race as the speeders.

I will say, at least for me, TCW has repaired most lot of the damage the episode 1, 2, and 3 movies did. I am getting psyched for episode 7 in December and already have my Christmas eve tickets bought.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind Grievous's Sunday morning cartoon villain style if it wasn't for how freaking badass he was in Genndy Tartakovsky's series.

Those sorts of villains are fine when they exist, it was just a problem doing it to a character who was a relentless force of terror in his first appearance.

They seemed to use villain focused episodes very sparingly and perhaps they favored Dooku instead. I would have loved more awesome Grievous but I found that they did a great job of fleshing out Dooku to the point that I am not disappointed that he got so little screen-time in RotS.

If you like Ahsoka now, just wait until later. Also, you're right about her in Disney Infinity - she's so fun to play as.

Clone Wars did a lot for me in terms of my perception of the prequels. TCW doesn't suddenly make Episodes 1 and 2 magically better but it does make certain elements of RotS more palatable for me. The series really turned me around on the prequels after I had become quite cynical.

I'm a SW fan, but the prequels left me a bit cold, so I ignored this series - until today. I just finished watch the original 2008 CG film The Clone Wars, then I watched season 1 ep1 afterwards. The film was pretty fantastic, to my surprise. It looks like I have several seasons to watch on netflix before SW IV debuts on 12/18/2015. I didn't read much of the earlier posts because I'm afraid of any spoilers.

I've read that season 1 isn't really that great, but I'll plug through it in the expectation (from reading reports online) that it gets much better.

If you liked the film, you will like season 1. The film is easily the worst part of the entire series so you'll probably enjoy all of the series if you liked that

If you enjoyed the movie, which even a lot of die-hard fans of the series are cold on, you're gonna love the series. From season 1 to 5, it just keeps getting better with each new season. Season 6 is a bit of a regression, but it's still great.

Wow, I guess I was not expecting much, I liked it. Even baby Hutt and 'know it all' padawan stuff didn't really detract much, to me.

It isn't terrible it just in many ways has a much lighter tone than the series carries throughout. The Movie makes the series seem much more young child oriented then the series is. It honestly hurt the shows acceptance as it turned off most who would not give it a chance again until after the series was done and people talked it up.

Wait you liked the MOVIE!?
Man, season 5 is going to blow your mind.

I really don't get why everyone loves season 5 so much. Parts of season five are the highest highs, but it also has the lowest low with Meeber Gascon. I also don't care for the younglings arc.

I loved the younglings arc, and while Meeber Gascon was obnoxious, I still enjoyed R2-D2 and Gregor the clone commando.

and as you said, everything else is solid gold.

I loved the Younglings Arc. They were all so cute, and a lot less obnoxious than child characters tend to be (except for the one human kid, he was kind of annoying). Of course, there's that moment when you're like, huh, wonder what they'll be like when they grew up and become Jedi! Oh... wait... :(

The youngling arc may not seem like much at first, but it adds quite a bit lore-wise to SW and I liked how the events kept on escalating.

Thanks a lot, Anakin.

We don't actually know if those particular younglings met their demise during ROTS. At the very least, it's possible that Katooni joined up with Hondo and the pirates, if the hints in that arc were indicative of anything.

Season 5's
Sheev VS. Maul and Savage lightsaber duel
is amazing. The
Pre Vizla fight
was also awesome as well.

The only upside to TCW getting cancelled is that the Vong didn't become canon.

What's the canon status on stuff like Sons of Dathomir and the Ventress novel?

Any script adapted from TCW unfinished plots, regardless the media. Is canon.

IIRC. The idea for the Vong was to just make them alien warriors thus killing any hope for the EU BS of ever being canon again.

I don't think Son of Dathomir is canon, but Dark Disciple (the Ventress novel) definitely is.

Edit: appears I was wrong about SoD!

They're canon. So are the produced arcs with unfinished animation.

Interesting about the Vong approach. I still need to get around to watching the unfinished episodes too. Thanks guys.
