I'm going with:

- Fallout 4 (Steelbook + postcards) - PS4
-Strategy Guide Collector's Edition

Where do you get that one?.

The guide with magnets and bottle opener you can get from the Bethesda Store.

When I get the money together I'm just going to go old school and get a regular PS4 copy or digital copy of Fallout 4. Then maybe do something new school and get more money together for the season pass. Yup... you youngings and your special editions.

fucking awesome.

i'm buying a new couch for this game, no joke.

please dont be a buggy POS on PS4 like Fallout 3 on PS3...

The main culprit was the cell processor and their unwillingness to take advantage of its function.

PS4 is a different beast so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt for this game.

just pre-purchased on steam (no collectors stuff for me, too much stuff in my apartment as is)

feels good man

I went with special edicion, that was avalible in my country. Paid 4€ more for bonus poster, artbook with 96 pages and soundtrack.
That's a nice set of items. I'm not generally that into art books but Fallout's concept art is always amazing. I'll probably have to spring for that stand alone art book at some point. Do they give you poster right away, or when you pick up the game?

Does the soundtrack have the licensed songs?
Cool if it doesn't but extra cool if it does.

Did Amazon fix the thing where changing the address on the Pip boy edition would cancel the order?

Eh I don't think they will be fixing that.
It's to stop scalpers.

I would assume that it'd be a 50/50 percent chance. People were warning about changing info and orders being cancelled for MGSV, so I think it has been a problem for a while now.

EDIT: Jesu's explanation above me makes sense and is likely the reason.

I still dont have the poster, it will come with my order, since I pre-ordered online. But thruth to be told, I just recently printed out one myself.

I have no idea what actually is on CD, the description mean something like "best of soundtrack".

From what I understand the big problem was more that their games are very RAM needy and PS3 just didn't have that much and had it in a bad format.

PS4 fixes that issue handily. Plus it's more like a PC so easier for them to port the game over (cause yes, the cell processor being a different beast entirely didn't help either. But I think RAM had a lot to do with it).

A question.

Any one knows where to find Fallout 4 with a steelbook case in Sweden or UK(online)? I know that it's included in Collector's edition, problem is it's out of stock, at least at the time i looked and it's to expansive even if i could find it.

I may be wrong but wasn't the split memory pool of 256/256 MB of RAM also a major factor in the problems, given open-world games and a lot of scripts running? I understand the CELL Broadband Engine being a complicated CPU for developers, albeit very powerful once established development occurred, but the small and split RAM of the PS3 was largely the biggest hindrance? Or maybe it's a bit of both that complemented each other's problems and mixed with Bethesda's engine didn't help either.

are Bathesda games usually good with SLI profiles on release?

Ugh why is it always a hard choice for me?

Digital or Physical.

I love having the physical product but the convenience of no disk swapping is huge.

UGH!!

RAM was easily the number one culprit. Whenever Bethesda games on console loaded something new, you'd better have prayed that the previous cell was purged in time. Otherwise, the RAM limit would be exceeded and crash goes the game. On PC, making their games Large Address Aware made crashing from lack of memory largely impossible unless you added every high resolution texture out there.

Compounded with the script errors in every version, and working with the cell processor, PS3 Bethesda was doomed to fail unless they made the games hilariously ugly in comparison to Xbox and PC.

So Prima guides stink? I would really like to get a guide with this, since just buying the normal edition feels like NOT ENOUGH.

They are usually your normal walkthroughs of the game with several pages of information about basics [controls, HUD, meaning of stats like Int etc.]. As bonus those guides more often than not list most / all secrets that can be found in the game, and for something like Fallout 4 it can be nice when you just want to see it all.

That guide I linked has 544 pages so I would guess it covers everything about Fallout 4, from stats to every last hidden secret.

I'm still holding off on when I want to get Fallout 4. At the moment, I am going to wait a while and see reviews and my friends play it before I give it a ring.

should be a big enough release to have it tho right?

;_;

There have been bigger profiled releases without SLI support. If your banking on SLI support day 1 going forward you are gonna be dissapointed. I don't think profiles take as long to come out as they used to, but they will take a bit of time generally. Back when I had a 460 SLI setup it'd take about a month usually for new releases to get the profiles. It's why I stopped going SLI as if you want to play Day 1 with everyone else, you're gonna only be playing with 1 card sadly.

I was going to get the one that comes with an art book but I want to play the game asap so Steam it is. I will, however be getting the guide and artbook seperately eventually.

Ah, yeah, I looked it up. It's neat and I like the cover it comes with but it's not worth it enough to pay the 54 bux extra (it's only 77 on Amazon) for the magnets, bottlecap opener, and neat box and book cover it comes with. I'll make do with the regular C.E. edition.

Right but it also comes with the art of fallout, unless you already have that preordered.

you're killing me here

Ok thanks. I preordered it just in case, but I don't think I'll be shelling out so much just for the art, since I usually don't use guides much anyway.

The description isn't even clear if it is the actual book or just an e copy. I think I'll stay away from it myself.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nvidia releases "Game Ready" drivers for Fallout 4 as it's one of the biggest releases this year. Pretty much every new game I've bought this year has had pretty good SLI support from day one, other than a few bugs here and there.

P.S. Is Green Man Gaming the cheapest place to get Fallout 4? It's fucking $80 USD on Steam...

UGH!!

Are you really going to be swapping discs that much with this game in the chamber?

The problem with those guides is that they become kind of obsolete after some balance patches.

I doubt story content/secret locations are as "balance sensitive" as other things.

Game ready drivers absolutely. Those are generally different than SLI profiles though. At least day one. I've been out of the loop as I have had nothing but frustration with SLI when I had it, maybe things have shaped up. In my experience it was always, game ready drivers-->game release-->few weeks later--->updated sli profiles.

edit:
quick google search, from Nvidia forums:

I understand your frustrations, but behind the scenes we have not dropped the ball or given up on SLI. The rule of thumb is this: if there isn't SLI support, there almost certainly isn't multi-GPU support from the other firm either. Why? Because the game engine isn't compatible. If this is the case we'll work as closely with a developer as we can to remedy the problem(s).

Let's address the list from OP:

Ryse - No SLi Support // SLI now supported in concert with new game update
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - No SLi Support // Engine incompatibility
NBA2k15 - No SLi Support // Engine incompatibility
Wolfenstein: The New Order - No SLi Support // Engine incompatibility
Titanfall - No SLi Support // SLI supported for some time
Elder Scrolls Online - No SLi Support // SLI supported for some time, scaling is variable depending on the zone/area/gameplay type. Heavily CPU bound. Personally worked with gamers on this board to refine profile.
Alien: Isolation - No SLi Support // SLI supported since launch. Another set of bits scales better beyond 19x10, but using in-game options you're unable to fix the shadow glitching that occurs when using them. That can be fixed through config file tweaks, but we cannot assume a player has those tweaks enabled so we have to support what the majority of players will use and the in-game options.
FIFA 15 - No Sli Support // Engine incompatibility
Dark Souls 2 - No Sli Support // SLI supported for some time. Personally worked with our team to develop this
Watch Dogs - No proper Sli Support // SLI supported since launch
Dead Rising 3 - No Sli Support // Engine incompatibility

SLI remains the best multi-GPU solution, in my opinion, and it's going to be the definitive solution for VR gaming thanks to VR SLI, which uses 1 GPU per eye on a headset, and applies other tweaks that dramatically reduce latency.

Hopefully this post addresses some of your concerns and gives you more visibility into our processes.

UGH!!

For me the game will last for months and I'll be changing discs loads for other games any so it doesn't really matter.(Star Wars, Halo, Divinity, backlog etc)

Ugh...I'm so torn on doing physical or digital. I want to play it ASAP. I cancelled a Best Buy that came with socks and the season pass because I was paranoid about not going it day of. Digital would be available on the dot but it would be cheaper getting it at Best Buy and it's so far unknown if they're opening at 9PM to sell it since I live on the West Coast. I want it cheaper so I can have plenty to buy a second copy for a friend and surprise them with it since they're as big of a fan of Fallout as I am and they can't afford it yet.

This game is tearing me apart!

wait, Shadow of Mordor? Im sure I was using SLI with that, I even remember the frames bump I got from it?

I'm buying the disc version of this and actually now I'm regretting it(was much cheaper though)
Amazon don't deliver till about 5pm here :(
