btw I found this folder called StoryPartSelect and it had 2 files called PartSelectIconGray.uasset, StoryPartSelect.uasset

I'm taking a guess here but does it sound like we are going to have like a real story mode with chapters we can play through or something like that?

Ono likes how NeatherRealm did MK9 and MKx story modes, so expect the same thing here.

What gaming events/expos are taking place during November?
In a couple of days we have a big PlayStation conference at PGW, so it would be a good idea to make some SFV related announcement there.

does anyone else hope capcom still does the occasional "big" update to sf5?
maybe after a couple years they put out a bunch of dlc all at once. new stages, new music, new characters
sort of like a a "super" update but you can just get the stuff piecemeal if you dont wanna pay for the whole pack? and maybe even gameplay changes. 2nd CA's or a change to v-skill etc
i think it'd be fun to still have the super style update to the game, but do it via dlc...

We are really going to have to see what their model is. I expect we are going to receive a steady stream of content flowing in every month. However, it may be that we get chunks of content every three months or so. Hell, it may be a combination of the two aforementioned styles, where we get a steady stream, but when they release their big patches (which I assume will be annual) they do a big release that almost works like a quasi update. Truthfully, we just don't know anything at the moment, we just know that we won't have to pay real money for new characters and that there WILL be new characters. Everything else is a guess wrapped in an assumption and paired with a hope.

...then they can stop selling vanilla sf5 discs and sell 60 dollar super sf5 discs like "game of the year edition" games or whatever

I would be very surprised if this didn't happen in one form or another.
 
The two times a year content will almost certainly slow is pre-EVO and pre-Capcom Cup. (In order to not screw up the metagame and such.) Luckily, they're across the year from each other, so working around them won't be hard, and they can use both events to preview the next "season" of content.
 
Am I crazy in thinking the game performs better on PC during the actual matches than during training mode? I particularly notice a slight frame drop during Chun's Super but only while training, this doesn't happen when I'm facing other characters.

Also, is there a PC performance thread? We had one for MKX... but then it was MKX :x

From those images it looks possible that there are two characters not selectable outside of versus mode?

No, because in the list that mentions up to 18 characters doesn't include an entry for the character #2. So it's 17, and one of them would be the position to select a random character. I'd say it's 16 characters.

A guy in reddit explained how to extract these encripted files and published the music tracks. So seems it's possible to extract these files from the character select screen too. But googling a bit I saw you need UE4 editor to open these uasset files to see what they include and extract their images. Not sure if someone can extract/decrypt them following the steps of the guy who ripped the OST and open these uasset files in the UE4 editor.

I think story mode is going to be different then the old street fighter aracde mode. Since we know that there are going to be selectable stories and Capcom said they liked how MKX did their story I envision character specific story lines. Also with that DLC stories for each character and even multiple stories for some characters. They could seriously make money from this. This could be a good place to create some legit street fighter lore too.

It definitely seems like SFV is designed to clean up the mess and get a real storyline in place that gets from SF2 to SF3.
 
if you figure out how to load the uasset files please tell me. i don't know much about ue4 and its editor

was having too much fun playing the beta... anyway so far UE Viewer isn't opening them, I actually downloaded the full Unreal Engine but I have no idea what I'm doing.

One thing I did notice right away though is the 2 extra select portraits are much smaller files... being on 3 and 4kb when the other ones are like between 200-600kb

Your salt will be great.

Along with the gameplay diversity Dhalsim will bring. But that's a long-term joy. Short term, sald. For sure.

I doubt that considering that I'm here nor there about Dhalsim as a character or his inclusion in V. I'd just find it hilarious that all these would-be pundits and theorist get proven wrong.

Yeah I took a look too and the menu assets directory is just stuff used... for the menus. :/

The actual icons are in each character's folders. Only the 1st costume meshes exist in this build as well.
 
So kind of a bummer that UE Viewer won't load actual stage geometry... but here's some fun texture maps for whoever wants

EDIT-hmmm actually can view/extract stage geometry that is rigged like the sheep, etc... but not static meshes like the Egyptian statues behind the waterfall

That Final Fight banner still fills me with a bittersweet feeling. I mean, it's a nice picture, and it's cute that it acknowledges that SF and FF are strongly-tied franchises (Beyond just sharing a universe), but it also suggests that we're not going to see any of the Final Fight characters for awhile.

The lack of Haggar is the hardest hitting part for me, but this means that none of the other characters are on the table at the moment, either. At least Eisbahn looks cool; I'd take him as DLC.
