Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Went 8-2 with unstable. I had a 1.5 kd and I'm pretty sure his was 2.0+. I hit platinum 1 and he hit diamond 1.

That green map (I think it's called plaza) is very confusing at first. I jumped straight into arena without doing anything else first, so I'm surprised we actually did so good.
Oh shit I played with you guys then. ThatGuyFern sound familiar?

At least I coulda sworn I played with a guy named something stable and was pretty good haha

Yeah, after spending quite a bit of time in the MP I don't think I can go back to The Master Chief Collection. The game is so good and so smooth (FPS and Netcode). In love with the game, 343i and especially Stinkles
(Team Frankie, all glory to Frankie!)
because we all know Frank did 99% of the game, you guys did a fantastic job!

My brother may not like the game (not a Halo player, spent two solid years playing Battlefield 4, and #1 Top Dogfighter in the World), you'll hear him complaining about the health system in some of my games. I'll be starting up campaign much later today, just got off of the game. I'll also be trying out some Warzone.

Again, great work 343i! The game is amazing.

So quick question, did anyone else have to redownload the 55gb game? My file size was already 54.6gb and I made sure that it was updated like 343 said... Yet this morning, getting up early for work, and bam, have to redownload the whole damn thing.

Any solutions that you've all found?

I wished Buck & his team (Alpha-Nine) had returned to Halo 5 in some capacity. I think it would've been funny to see how the Rookie would had interacted if he had came in contact with the Master Chief. You know, being a mute and all.

You should read about his team in the EU.

You're telling me that if I accidentally press Y, A, A while waiting for a match I'll spend $25? Are you kidding me? Is there no way to safeguard against this aside from just unlinking my credit card from my account?

Hope you guys are enjoying Halo 5! We are really proud of the work 343i accomplished with this game and we hope this game will satisfy long time Halo fans and those that are new to series. And maybe, I'll see some of you guys in the arena online! ;)

They did an amazing job, enjoying the multiplayer more than any other Halo to date if we are being honest.

Hope you're ready to get rekt online, kid.

So...

The Bad:

1) shotguns suck, especially the not-human one. I mean, we haven't had a good once since Halo 1, so maybe I shouldn't feel too bad, but I do.
2) not enough "observe/plan/shoot" encounters that define Halo; more like "continually move forward into a Killzone/Call of Duty-esque fight arena."
3) not using the Halo Shield Beep and going with something way less original
4) I thought I was supposed to get a cool skin thing when I bought the game from Best Buy. I did not. What gives?
5) Enemies are too spongey relative to the damage they output. Knights can OHK you on Heroic
6) Checkpointing is bad--one checkpoint had my entire fireteam down with half a second to save one of them, and the only way to fix it was to restart the entire level.
7) Why is Kelly speaking with a British accent when she grew up in the same place as all the other kids? This is Halo 5's "How do the Fallen Know What Wolves Are," clearly.
8) What is the Domain and why should I care? Is this more of that "you have to read the novels" stuff? Because ew.

Honestly? Heroic is garbage, just like it was in Halo 4. Halo Reach had Heroic perfected to a science. It's like that difficulty was made just for me. Here? I'm going down every minute or two. I can't play Halo like Halo. Instead I have to hide behind cover and shit, which isn't a fucking Halo game.

The Good

1) Kills feel great when they happen.
2) Sounds are nice and punchy.
3) Particles are off the chain.
4) 60 FPS was a good call.
5) This game looks gorgeous.
6) That rocket punch/groundpound thing is pretty neat.
7) The cutscenes manage to make every spartan look super cool.

Overall:

The difficulty balance and checkpointing is awful. A lot of stuff that makes Halo Halo isn't... really at the fore, if present at all. ADS is terrible because it supports the whole "hang back and pick enemies off" rather than "get right in there and wreck things" approach. The fights feel really nice when you're winning, but there are way too many enemies who can just like "oh hi let me drop you in a single hit" right now, and that's utterly destroying my fun.

Seriously, what is it with 343 and awful difficulty balance? Halo 4 was this way too: normal is way too easy, and Heroic is like "almost Legendary but not." Chatting with some friends going through Halo CE, they were remarking that Legendary feels unusually difficult as well, like the difficulty got changed. What's 343's problem?

And how do the Fallen know what wolves are?

I had to wake up to play a bit. Simply put, playing Halo has never been better. The more open levels, the sharp as a razor AI and boosting around with the gunplay at a silky 60fps is perfection. Nailing that down with a game that is still plenty good enough to look at was without question the right way to go. The game is a finely tuned beast.

Heeeey Phil! Loving the game.

Awesome to have you here. And, yes, the game is great.

I'm having a blast with the MP so far. I really like that you can sprint and boost, speeds it up a lot since Reach (last MP I played).

They got levels like Tsavo Highway or Assault on the Control Room?

Played through the first two missions on Heroic last night. First thing that grabs you, yes the game is smooth, incredibly so. I'm useless at spotting frame rates but even I could tell instantly this was different to other Halo games. Graphically it looks pretty good to me, not mind blowing, but for the amount of stuff that's happening on screen it seems pretty impressive to me. But I must say even I can see the lower update of some of the enemies in the distance and as I said I'm crap at spotting frame rates. The gameplay seems pretty solid and as the Story is so early on I really can't comment.
Haven't played online as yet, as I tend to get booted off teams anyway as I'm shite,I can't understand when a team gets pissed as I constantly get 0-2 kills and 10 -15 deaths, doesn't help as half the time I forget which colour team I am so send to shot at anything that moves.

Loving it, congrats to all the team who worked on and with H5.

It's currently an addiction. Gotta go for 1 more match or 1 more campaign mission seems to be a thing for me until I notice I have finished way way more than just 1 mission or 1 match. 343 did a magnificent job! Congrats!

Serious question here.

I get the gameplay similarities between Halo 5 and Destiny. The style, the enemies (even Halo 4 Prometheans = Vex), their abilities, player abilities (ground slam), REQ/engrams, hell, they probably worked from the same design docs at the beginning.

But why the names? Guardians? Osiris??? That's oddly specific copying. Trials of Osiris isn't that big a part of Destiny anyway - or does 343 know something we don't? Do they believe the leaks about Destiny 2 and how it's supposed to revolve around Osiris? They want to be first to the punch? Or is it just in those old docs? Or maybe it's out of spite?

Because it's definitely not a coincidence.
