Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

I've been watching a lot of multiplayer streams and the awarded req points are plenty, especially in warzone. Seems the microtransactions are pretty trivial. 343 did good in this department.

They really are. I've been able to buy gold packs pretty easy.

guys im on the fence

the game is right beside me sealed.

I mostly do campain and rarely get hooked on multiplayer stuff ....and the fact that need for speed.....fallout 4 AND star wars are within a few weeks should I even bother? I litterally need to blow dust off my xbox one.....maybe that is why im so apprehensive.

Wife just texted this to me. Didn't even preorder the elite controller...

your wife is a goddess

So, I sit down in the comfy chair. I've got beer and a bowl of oreos, time to enjoy Halo 5!

As I start the game I'm greeted by an update promt.

I think to myself: "Fuck, don't tell me the 9GB multiplayer update is mandatory to play the campaign!"

Then the Xbox says: "9GB? Try 55GB you scrub because fuck you, that's why!"

So much for god damn preloading.

So, is there a guide to Warzone?

I did 4 matches, and found my side always completely being wrecked, as the enemies had everything from Ghosts to Rocket Hogs to Scorpions out and about, and we were mostly being spawncamped at times.

Everytime I used a REQ, I would immediately be killed upon spawn, like spawning in my own ghost only for the enemy to be waiting with a tank.

And how do I know if I've been betrayed in Warzone?

Are the enemy names in Red in the kill bar and my team is the white color?

Help me understand, please!

The preloading issues seem really inconsistent. I preloaded last...Thursday? I booted it up around midnight PST last night...worked just fine.

Does the last level have some oh shit moment lije every last level halo (driving section space ship section in halo 4 etc)

Seems like a rent is more up your alley. I don't really know though. Only got to play for about 20 minutes this morning.

Edit. Oops. Read that wrong. Thought you said don't get hooked on multiplayer. KEEP IT!

I had to download 55gb even though I got the disk version...

I've gotta get out of this thread. I'm so used to automatically hitting every spoiler tag I see, I have to physically restrain myself so I don't ruin the campaign by reading it here

Edit: see I almost did it again with the two posts under this haha

Managed to finish the first mission (and only a bit of the second) before I had to head out. Was surprised by (moment from the ending cinematic of Mission 1)
how fast Jul 'Mdama went down. I'm reading the Halo Escalation books, and he's like THE bad guy there. Then Locke shows up and boom, he's cooked. I suppose he may have survived? Doubt it though.

Anyone know when The Fall of Reach animated series will be up for purchase for those of us without the fancy edition? Xbox.com result just comes up as Bundle Only.

Well,
it's a 3 way battle between osiris, covenant and prometheans with some light vehicle action, but it's mostly on foot combat and a final stand-your-ground battle with prometheans.

I'll need to decide soon if I want to stick with Recon controls or switch it up. Sprint being on X makes some stuff like the Charge and Slide a little awkward to do. I can do them, just maybe not as effectively as with some other control schemes.

I'm blown away by what 343 has been able to accomplish with this game. Went through the first 2 levels on Heroic last night and loved every second of it. From the gunplay to the sound effect, I'm in love.

Really used to enjoy digging into the fiction of these games but as I get older (30), I care less and less about that. As long as it's fun to play and the levels are open/diverse, that's what I'm really looking for.

First Halo game was CE on release day. Has always been my favorite.

Haven't even touched the MP, my lawd.

Just finished mission 1, can someone please explain what the fuck is going on? I finished halo 4 but everything is different, what is happening?

Where can I go to see what happened in between games?

Read the escalation comics or just a summary of them. Tanaka is also introduced there.

Yeah, it does.
Doesn't change how I really feel about how long this is taking.
Oh well yeah, it sucks to have a 9GB patch to download, definitely. They really need to come up with a better solution.

But I think combining both downloads and actual installation under one umbrella 'install' term makes the entire process feel even longer than it would otherwise.

This gameplay is the gold standard of FPSs. Im in love. Reduced aim assist in comparison to past Halo games really ups the skill gap. Took me a couple hours to adjust but the gameplay has that zen-like flow after awhile. The thruster/booster adds so much to the game.

343 addressed some of my main complaints:

-CTF, the flag carrier isnt displayed to the entire enemy team, until they are spotted - and even then they are only shown for a short time. What a great and practical idea. The flag carrier on display for all to see 100% of the time was my biggest beef with H4. Add that with the fact its return to score and this is pretty much the best Halo CTF gameplay yet. I cant wait for BTB CTF.

-Reduced radar range was needed and is just about perfect - they better not go back.

-AR and pistol starts was the correct way to go. The pistol does its job just fine.

-The booster is something Halo should have always had. I felt this way back in H4 and im glad its standard. Fits the gameplay perfectly.

-Sniper and dmr scopes are 100% fixed from the beta. Total 180.

-I like the touch of different sound effects when you are picking up different types of grenades. A good audio cue for more experienced players in the heat of combat.

Only thing im not liking is the overall look of the arena maps - although the gameplay is fine. Whats up with all these dark alleyways? I want bright outside, natural stuff like High Ground. Perhaps with the map packs...

Any idea where/when/how the Best Buy code is supposed to show up?
I'm used to getting an email with any preorder bonus codes before I've even made it out of the parking lot. It's been about an hour since I picked mine up, and no word yet. I did get an email telling me to check my 'Digital Library', although that's empty too.

Nosing around other forums, the only people I've seen who've gotten a code had reached out to Best Buy support. If people are getting them via email (without asking for 'em) or on their receipts, they don't seem to be posting about it.

Best Buy says it could take up to 4 hours to show up in the digital library and up to 72 hours (!) to get an email, so it's not overdue, but this is really unusual for them.

I love Breakout but the floor honestly disorients me. The wavy-ness to it and the way it changes angles all around you is distracting and quite honestly throws me off.

Wish it was just a static grid :(

Well, it's pretty straightforward, but if you really have to you can just watch the Spartan Ops cutscenes. That gets you basically up to speed.

everyone has BR and i have the standard rifle in warzone 0_o

how do i get BR as standard?

You'll get it in a REQ pack, I think it's either a commendation or a promotion pack (when your SR levels up from playing a certain amount). You can't use it until REQ energy level is at 3, but you can use it from then on as your loadout.

Asking this again, how do you use your xp boosts? Is it passive?

Regarding maps created in the Forge, will I be able to create maps such as CTF-Facing Worlds and CTF-Lava Giant from UT and just upload for people to play? D:

Just finished Mission 10, really enjoying it so far. Much more open and expansive feeling than 4. The one thing it's missing so far is a really good vehicle sequence. I liked the
phaeton flying through the caves, mainly for seeing the AI running along the footpaths and realizing that it really was an alternative
, but otherwise have found most of the vehicle stuff underwhelming.

I love the new moves though, both the charge and the ground pound are super useful, and they seem to have added verticality to make it more useful, which has the added effect of making the levels more interesting, IMO. I also like that there seem to be a bunch of places where there are (short) alternate paths.

Edit: I'd also say I would suspect some of the complaints about the shortness of the campaign are due to the DBNO mechanic. I've only replayed a 2-3 checkpoints so far, so I'm blasting through it, but I don't mind that because I'm a father who doesn't really have a ton of time, I don't really think replaying sections over and over again is a ton of fun, and if I want that experience, it seems like upping the difficulty will get me it.

Oh weird. I totally forgot that was even a thing. I picked mine up at 11:00 last night. Checked my email just now and it shows that I got the code at 12:12

I think u press the A button during the game searching/lobby screen and then pick the boost you want.
