Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

I'm hoping Urien's V Trigger isn't just one Aegis Reflector. They should do it similar to Zangief where he goes in a powered up mode and can throw out uo to 2 when ever he wants. I want to do a double Aegis Reflector mix up trap.

What I see:
#1 Urien or Boxer
#2 Dudley or Guile
#3 Akuma or new Illuminati or Urien/Gill in Robe
#4 Sakura
#5 I don't know Jill Valentine from the vs series?
#6 Alex

Just please Alex and Urien!

I wonder if they'll have a tease at the end of the Zen/FAN trailer for thd first DLC character. It makes more sense to do it for the DLC characters.

I just can't see Juri on that 5º silhouette
Pause her in the middle of her fireball charge when her leg's up.
Interest will be at its highest during launch. Surprised they're doing 1 character every 2 months.
The CPT schedule likely means we might see something like "March April May" (break till EVO) then "Right after Evo (July)", "August" "October" (break until Capcom Cup).

They've said they don't want to drop characters close to the major events. Other games having to ban out playable characters is always really shitty.

I'm late to the news, but seen that 6 DLC characters in year one has been confirmed. That aligns with my prediction of them being aggressive with 5-6 per year. Good shit.

Not too excited about the daily goals to be honest, but as long as just playing the game online is enough then it's an alright way to get "bonus" fight money for those that want it I guess. I'm just not going to let that influence the way I play or what characters I choose. Leveraging the leveling system is a smart business decision because it will keep people wanting to grab/use that new DLC character.

Has anything been said of sharing progress/fight money/unlocks between the PS4 and PC versions yet?

Considering you need to create a separate ID for online, I'm thinking you'll get to share your online stuff between versions.

I am very surprised about almost all the information that was released...

I have also been saying from the start that they would probably frontload their content, so we would get more characters in the first half of the year, with releases being a little more spaces later on. I also thought we would be getting around eight to ten characters in the first year. This makes me a little sad as it means my favorite characters are going to have to wait a year, at least now, to have a chance (hopefully this game is successful enough to keep the DLC coming).

I really thought Dhalsim was pretty unlikely, and a character that people had just latched onto for no discernible reason, but now I see that I was blatantly wrong and I missed something very obvious. It looked a little more likely to be Dhalsim after the recent data mining. The preview picture had me convinced Ono was messing with us. However, I can't predict him, sometimes it is super vague, and crazy misleading, then other times he makes it really obvious. I thought I had him figured out; but he is too wily for my brittle mind.

I was also pretty sure Akuma was going to be the first DLC character. I was thinking that he was likely to release near launch, if not be day one. It is pretty interesting that it appears that he may not be making the first year of DLC.

Oh well, can't win them all I suppose (though, I lost them all quite impressively). Looking forward to the reveal of all six characters. I love me some Alex and Urien. I think Ibuki is a cool addition. I think Juri just needs the silly straps on her top fixed and she will be awesome (I already think she is pretty cool). I often pick up boxer on the side, so I am interested to see what they do with him as well.

They don't need as many DLC characters in year 1 since everyone's new. (22 in year one overall) It's later years that need a higher rate.

God his design is so sick. Capcom did an A++ job. If only they changed Gief and his stale ass.

I really like Gief's design. It's traditional, but they did do a number on his body-type and musculature. I think in contrast with the rest of the cast he's very unique.

To each their own and all that, but I completely disagree. They've changed literally 0% of Gief's overall design and he looks exactly the same as he did back in SF4 all the way to SF2. It's just boring. I'm not asking for a complete Ken style re-design, but just give him grey hair or give him his cape like what Shadoken said. Just give us something new.

It's not just him though. Both Chun and Ryu disappoint me due to how nothing about their design has changed. That's why I'm so desperate to get the Hot Ryu skin. I'll still play as them, but I just can't help but get annoyed at the fact that they changed some but left others the same :/

Gief would have been nice with a cape, but I still think he's pretty easily the best character in the game in terms of personality and animations. Head and shoulders above anything he did in SFIV. He made Dhalsim disappointing if only because I was expecting something on the the same level. He's a nice return to form after 4, and it's pretty refreshing I think.

Least exciting reveal is still Cammy, but people don't notice that because Birdie was cool and if you wanted to disappointed about something that weekend, Nintendo's press conference was so bad that it made everything else seem great.

Our full range of SFV products have not been announced yet.
I'll keep an eye out then, can't wait!

That makes sense. SF4 was odd though, they went aggressively heavy on new characters early on with Home and Super and then slowed down.

17 characters Arcade, Jul 2008
7 months later +8 characters, Feb 2009 (Home)
14 months later +10 characters, Apr 2010 (Super)
Then over a year for AE to add just 4 and three years for Ultra to add just 5.

6 per year will take us nearly 5 years to hit the amount that Ultra has. I hope you are right that they ramp it up later. But I'd prefer something where you get a steady trickle and then a big dump once a year. February release date, so do a new character every 3 months except for on each February anniversary where they instead drop 6 at once alongside a major balance patch. That'd be 9 a year.

For me that first image (first on the left) looks like akuma without hair doing a jump fireball.

And the final image (first on the right) looks like E. Honda without hair. He is always putting
his hand in people's face.

With the current reveal rate (+ the Zangief blog) I don't see them waiting that long.

It's just over a month away and we've waited more than a month for a reveal before. I think it's entirely possible (and more likely) that we'll get the last character there. Makes more sense than some random gaming convention.

Gief's design is one of the one's that's iconic and hard to actually change substantially. In large part because he's not wearing much of anything.

With some characters being aged up I would like to see bald Guile. Or at least with a receding hairline/bald spot combo.

While a cape on Zangief would be cool... that would be very problematic during his lariat and spin animations.... more likely than not he'd be walking with a cape draped over his head after the first lariat cuz cloth physics.

Yeah, the only choice would be during the intro I guess. He's really perfect.

Hardly random. Sony has a confirmed presence there and the new characters (aside from Necalli) have all been unveiled at events held in (or near) their home country. Laura was shown at BGS and Rashid was shown in Dubai.

I don't think Capcom is going to leave us dry for an entire month.

I'm very curious about this, and still have some hope.

The only thing that might still mean that is possible is that Capcom has been saying you can earn the character or by using the in-game currency that you buy (as opposed to just buying the DLC).

Why make players go through the step of buying in-game currency rather than PSN or Steam direct content purchases? Could it be so that they can keep track of content entitlements via their network? Kinda like a WB Play thing where you sign in via an email-based account, and just unlock it that way? Or could that lead to account sharing/abuse?
