Looks like Major Nelson has his hands on the Pip-Boy Edition today.

*sigh* Pip boy is too shiney and new looking damnit. And it just seems like it should be green, not brown.

It's a big reason I think the well done home made pip boys look better than the official one. Ah well, I'll be happy with my official one cause I'm nowhere near as handy/good at crafts as those people who make and paint their own.

That looks bigger than I thought, the box especially.

By the way if anybody wants to check out the trophy list without story spoilers you can here:

I already looked at it myself and you have nothing to fear. Made me a bit more excited.

Well to be fair, the vault dweller was in a vault in a cryosleep. I doubt that pipboy got much wear really just sitting stored safely away.

I don't mind the lack of weathering but was really hoping the final version would have a matte finish. Probably wouldn't be too hard to rough it up a bit yourself if you're careful around the lettering.

Speaking of weathering. Does anyone know if the game will have storms?

I need this game in my life. Everything I've seen and read about it makes me more impatient. Was gonna g this for PC but will be getting it for the One so I can play at my parent's this holiday season.

Been absolutely blind about Fallout 4. Doing a media blackout but I can't resist popping into here every now and then to see what's in it.

Must. RESIST!

I just found out there are mini g
ames via Holotapes.

Actually you find it on the floor near the vault entrance.

I just pre-ordered the game digitally on my PS4. First Fallout game, will I be at disadvantage if I do not use the VATS system? I don't like how games can pull you out of combat but I don't know if Fallout was made to use that system.

It would make sense to use it with a sniper and that is the only reason I could see myself using it.

VATS is slow-mo combat goodness. You're going to want to use it.

Depends on how well they've improved the normal combat controls which before were pretty bad.

But even then VATS is a great system that is useful in all situations, especially close combat when there's tons of enemies around you and crowding around you. And now that it doesn't freeze time completely but simply slows it down it will probably be a more seamless system to use in normal combat. So it won't completely pull you out of combat as much as it did in the previous games.

I know it will have radiation storms.
We've seen regular old rain storms too. In the E3 gameplay where he gets into the power armor for the first time.

On the subject of VATS, I've noticed that you can no longer target enemy weapons. Not a big deal but a little disappointing. I hope you can still shoot grenades out of the air at least.

I suppose it could locked behind a perk.

Hmm. Yeah. Hopefully it's still in. It was very useful disarming certain enemies that had some nasty weapons and too much health to realistically take them out in time.

Preordered the BB socks edition, hopefully it was an ok decision I never preorder and usually avoid season passes.

Beat the shit out of it

I remember reading the info around E3, but I've only just watched the conference. Oh my.

The weapon crafting, the settlement building...there's hours and hours of time to sink into that. And that's on top of the usual Fallout experience.

Can't wait for the weirdos, the references, the odd NPCs and the hilarious quests. Such a brilliant game world that extends far beyond what the game looks or plays like.

My head hurts, trying to fit in Halo 5, Fallout 4, Battlefront, Tomb Raider...it's a good job summer is normally a quiet period for releases, because I'm going to need it to catch up and finish all of these.

I really don't know if I should get this... (Got far to much else to play and thinking I should wait for the goty edition).

Then again its fallout and know a bunch of my mates are getting it...

I'm not going to be able to purchase this fine game on Day one but I can't wait to play it, it's going to be such a great time sink and to make the hype even bigger I finished a couple of months ago Fallout New Vegas and all the DLC! As soon I'm financially able to I'm going to buy this and just relax. :)

Just imagine:

It's Winter and it's cold outside. You just had a very long and tiresome day at work but you are finally at home. All things are done and you won't go to work the next day. You get some comfy clothing and grab a nice cup of tea or coffee while starting the game. You notice that is raining outside but you are all warm and fuzzy inside with a hot beverage exploring the wasteland...!

still can't decide what platform to get this on. preferably PC but means I'll need to hold off and see benchmarks. Really want to play day 1 so might just get it for PS4 or XB1.

That last paragraph though. S o true.

+ using games to escape.

The Fallout series has gotten me through some of the hard times in life. This year has been rough and I really really can't wait to leave this year behind and go into the new year while playing Fallout 4.

So stoked!

I still down know what kind of build I should go for. I'm playing a female so I want higher charisma but I don't know which perks would be better or fun. So best thing to do is keep all stats even.
Yea, this is what I'm doing. Playing as a woman high charisma and intelligence, everything else is up in the air right now. Maybe luck and perception.

Damn, you are really going in blind. They talked about those at the E3 conference.

Forgot about that. But still.

I guess making it look more rustic would give it a more authentic look considering how old it is. But I'm fine with it looking new too I guess.

Anyway, it's been confirmed if you got the PC Physical you don't even need to use the disc.

A Bethesda game going gold is the equivalent of the Beta version being ready. Sorry but i had to say this especially afger Fallout 3 and Skyrim releases.

I hope i am wrong but their QA is rather abysmal...

On a related note, today is Fallout 3's 7 year anniv.

Wow, 7 years. Doesn't feel like it, really.

Interestingly, Fallout 3 is the Fallout that actually drew me to the series and got me to play Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. What hooked me originally was this 4 or 5 part video walkthrough Bethesda posted to Xbox Live, which also showed
blowing up Megaton
.

Congrats on being number #10245 to say the same thing.

The game was apparently finished in July, since then it's just been polish.

I'm getting this on PC, but I'm considering getting the PS4 version as well. anyone else double dipping on release?

Stupid but i am on the xbox and ps4.
Only pipboy i could get hold of was an xbone version. But will be queuing at midnight to pick up my standard ps4.

Nice, I really hope you can find some good moments while playing Fallout 4. I'll be reading some impressions in the OT while waiting. I believe it's going to be a great winter game for you! :)
