Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Okay finally taking a break after this morning with the campaign but at least right now:

MP >>>>>>>>>>>>> SP

By that I mean I feel no real desire to keep playing the campaign. I don't know how you guys can enjoy fighting the Prometheans. God they are boring and the AI is all over the place. Sometimes it does a pretty decent job actually all things considered but other times they just sit there doing nothing. I really hope the campaign improves because at this rate its pretty much a throwaway for me. So crazy, I used to buy these games for the story.

Finished a solo heroic campaign run last night. Probably took 7-8 hours, but I wasn't stopping to smell the roses.

This game starts off so very, very, very well, but by the end I just wanted it to be over. The last third is just a long continuous slog that feels like the worst episodes of Spartan Ops.

Very torn on this game. Being a spartan feels better than ever, and the shooting is precise and the increased mobility is crazy rewarding. But there is still a lack of polish with many encounters in terms of balance, pacing and how they react with your squad AI. I think the combination of regenerating health and squad AI revives means that encounters don't have to be as well balanced or tuned, and it shows.

Going to give another playthrough though, as always, to see how I can change things up.

You can't be serious? Its worse than the beginning? Man maybe I should just cut my losses. Back to Warzone.

You know it's true that maps aren't very inspirational, Frankie. You guys have the gunplay, just make more interesting maps for DLC at this point. None of the maps have a personality.

All the maps I've played on have great personality, Truth has the very beautiful, sleek Covenent design, Fathom feels like a marvel of architecture cause of the immersive underwater setting. I think plaza has the most personality if you actually take a bit of time to look at it. There are so many little nuances like store names, restaurants and signs which give it such immersion as being in a modern, tactical setting. I will say that occasionally there is a lot of white and grey, such as in Eden and Empire, but the setting and the nuances of the map give it a lot of personality. The maps also play really well which is a huge bonus.

It's ok, I already know how I feel about things, including food and movies. At no point did I suffer a brain injury requiring me to need opinions.

Another way to phrase this is "I think that..."

That reminds me of the thread where the OP takes everything literally. Obviously I wasn't telling you what to think and what you feel.

I THINK that as a Halo player since inception that the maps need a lot of work beyond being "balanced" for certain gametypes. Anyone that is passionate about Halo wants to see the franchise succeed, and what saddens me the most is that the arena maps lack any kind of life to them. They are very sterile. Would have been nice for you to explain a little about the design philosophy instead of a passive aggressive insult.

We're both Halo fans here.

Then I must be an old cat that is hanging on to vestigial design philosophies.

You can't be serious? Its worse than the beginning? Man maybe I should just cut my losses. Back to Warzone.

The last 1/4 of the game is definitely the worst part of the game. Missions 11 - 15 are just...why.

This is the best competitive multiplayer game I've ever played.

The hyperbole is strong with this one. But yes, it plays very well and as a longtime Halo fan, I like what they've done so far. Maps though.....=/

I've played six games on retail. We might want to let my K/D settle down a bit...I betrayed two sets of people with bad plasmacaster panic in the last game and unlocked a betrayal emblem...

Lol sounds epic. I got that emblem in my first or second game :( I don't even know how I did it!

The setup from the initial cutscene to the battle between jutting rocks reminded me of some of my favorite parts in Reach. Even though the cut-scenes showed off things I'd much rather do myself than watch, they kept things moving.

The last third is all the worst bits from Halo 4: (mild encounter spoilers)
Waves and waves and waves and waves of prometheans with ever larger mixes of the same heavy units, and switches to flip, thinking each switch is the last and being dead wrong again and again and again until the end.

Hell yeah lets go!
Awesome games dude, and everyone else we played with!

I'm sorry about that accidental plasmacaster betrayal.

Despite several attempts, no enemies were killed, and one teammate accidentally was.

I don't like that weapon, even though I love sticky grenades.

I posted earlier about my full thoughts of the campaign, but having just finished 5, the crappiness of it is still in my mouth. If I sat down and really thought about it, H2 is probably still the worst, but this is the second worst hands down.

I'm not sure why they wanted this. The idea of a boss fight has been very rare in Halo's history, showing up only in H2 with Tartarus, H4 with the Didact, now 5...but they LITERALLY have you do the same fight 8x over... but with extra laser turrets because 3 Wardens isn't fucking annoying enough

Yeah that part is very annoying, but overall i enjoyed the battles. They were fun expect that one.
That one just felt annoying to the point where i was reminded of destiny. I was also thinking, really......again........and 3 of em!!!! Thats the only part i didnt enjoy in the game.

At least in that area, Location spoiler:
it's visually the most interesting Forerunner stuff in the series. Seeing all the Guardians floating around looks cool as hell.

I'm not a fan of MOBAs or counter strike, so to me, this truly is the best.

In single player you rarely get a chance to shoot Hunters or Wardens in the back. They're constantly focused on you and you can't even thrust around them.

Bro I honestly don't even want to keep playing knowing that. My time is precious I think I'm just going back to the mp.

I'm really enjoying some of the new sights for guns. The carbine and needler especially feel really satisfying to use with their sights, they look so sexy.

I just want to say that halo 5 could have been around just the chief and locke without their partners, throw buck in there for a few things because he is cool.

Are you sure it's the fan and not the drive? The fan can't even spin fast enough to produce that kind of noise cause it's too big.

It can, and it does happen. Certain closed betas that hardlock have caused mine to sound like it's taking off.

As much as I love Blue Team finally being brought into the games, I would have been ok with this.

I know people love the BR... But honestly the more I use it, I feel like the Carbine is the best gun in the game imho.

carbine with the trigger stops on the elite controller be like

A weird juxtaposition in Campaign is the Spartan squads doing a bunch of dope stuff in the cutscenes followed 5 minutes later by a scene of them sauntering up in a line to try and revive you as they get gunned down one after another by a turret.

That good or bad?

The gif makes me think both ways.

Also Frankie, there is something you NEED to patch into MP. When I pick up an SMG or a BR in Arean, it should be using my skin. I hate having weapons skins be for only my spawned gun.
