Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

I don't want any spoilers. I'm about to start the campaign tonight, what do I need to know?

I don't have time to read a whole book or series, so is there a summary of stuff that I should know about before starting the campaign?

I remember being pretty lost the first time through 4, but after reading up on some things, and playing through subsequent times, I understood everything that was going on.

I don't need all the little tiny details from the books, as I do plan on reading them at some point, so don't ruin it completely. Just story elements or major plots that I HAVE to know about in order to follow along in 5's campaign.

I noticed it in one area, but as soon as you scope in it swaps their animations to 60 fps so there really isn't anything for me to complain about.

I notice it basically all the time unless they're within 15 metres of me, and it seems like it goes to 15 fps or so when I was watching my friend run around about 150-200 metres away from where I was standing

This is pretty comprehensive, but there are loads of guides on youtube, I will say that if you have any knowledge of the universe you should be good to go.

I only watched streams and noticed it. It was the most noticeable thing that distracted from the graphics. The distance when it kicked in was kind of ridiculous but whatever.

If you're curious to how it looks and don't want to see spoilers, imagine how characters run at a distance in a game like Total War. It's missing a lot of animation so it looks like a really choppy mess until an enemy is close to you. It's weird people are saying they didn't notice it.

I don't think it's a game breaker though. Just a graphic annoyance.

It even carries over to the campaign cutscenes during zoom outs. Which was extremely surprising.

I'm loving multiplayer so much I barely make any progress in campaign (which is why I like Halo in the first place).

Almost halfway through the campaign, and it's been great so far. Can't think of a single annoying moment/mission just yet.

Only got a chance to play 2 matches last night but the game feels great. I still want to burn through those digital Darkhorse comics (folk weren't kidding about the terrible art!) before I jump into campaign - figure those books tie into 5 more than anything.

Just taking a moment to savor having a "real" KDR before everything goes down the tubes for me.

Yeah you notice it if you know what to look for, but in the mids of battle i dont really get distracted by it. Only when i watch a battle happen its like fuck. Hope 343 can push the Xbox one some more for Halo 6 so distance animation is a non issue, and better lod transition would also be welcome

So sick of playing 4 on 3 in slayer. If 343 doesn't allow the player who left to be replaced then they need to ban the quitters from playing multiplayer for a half hour.

I am not that good to begin with and people leaving just makes my kdr worse and stockpiles losses.

It's always been that way. They don't replace players. Though I think they do in Warzone.

Glitch on Mission 6:

Space elevator isn't opening for me even though I've cleared all the enemies. Squad are just blinding running into the wall.

Annoying.

the thing is its focused on competitive playing so just throwing someone into a match will fuck with peoples ranks.

they really should enforce some type of limit ban

I agree they need to combat quitters more severely. Each time you quit a match should at least make you unable to play a match in the next 10-20 minutes. Would not be the end of the world if you really need to quit for some reason, and also would prevent abuses.

Always likely to encourage people to just go AFK then though.

God damn frustrating game. Kept dying through walls, someone shot me with a rocker launcher point blank and I died but they didn't. Freaking bullet sponges 3 v 1 and we are all shooting dead on and still can't drop their shields. I hate that, made me rage quit.

Quite happy with halo games being that way, I'd hate to find myself midway in a game where I have no chance of winning and it counting against my rank. If a player quits, its a pain to be 3v4 however as you get up the ranks the number of quitters drops off (assuming 343 have implemented a quit penalty).

The best solution is to make friends, and play with them regularly, that way nobody quits.

They will be banning quitters...

I keep hearing people suggest that replacing players should be a thing... No one likes being a replacement player...

I'd rather play a man down than be subject to joining in progress matches...

I'm actually finding Heroic quite challenging. Even early on, enemies are unloading on me with surprising accuracy from across the map, and my shields fail quickly. I don't really want to turtle up and slowly chip away at the enemies, as that's just no fun.

Any suggestions or tips on how to "git gud"?

THIS.

It's ranked after all, they should get bans for quitting games.

People losing ranks joining a game halfway through a spawn camp session would induce far more rage.

That's what you have to do, even moreso on legendary. Having patience and not being greedy is key.

Titanfall voids your result if you're thrown into a game midway, meaning if you lose that match it has zero bearing on your rank.

Could the same not be implemented for Halo 5?

It really annoys me when my teammates just run off in different directions in Team Slayer. It's so easy for us to get picked off one by one by a competent team which sticks together. Is this the way it's supposed to be played now or what?

Nope. I'm dying to find some friends to play with the avoid this.

Add me and we will play together.
