Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Audio/visual cues aren't nearly good enough to justify minimal radar tho

This ain't reach

So you are admitting you need the radar to be good at this game?

BK Scrub confirmed.

And as predicted many Halo 3 and above peeps are having a difficult time in this game. #gitgud

i think its taking into account who you beat as well as you just winning

Thats correct, Anyway, people should not invest so much in their initial placement rank, after that is where the real ranking beggins.

I was placed yesterday in Diamond 1 for slayer, got to say that I have had a good Winning percentage so far.

Stinkles, you Wonderful bastard, this game is just what I was looking for in a new Halo, on behalf of a bunch of old guys that used to LAN every week Halo, we thank 343 for this awesome MP experience we are having.

"Error authorizing user with halo 5 guardians services. You will be unable to access online modes"

Stinkles why u do thiz?

Someone else also can't connect?

Here's my take on Halo 5: Guardians: This is the best Halo game I have ever played.

I finally feel like a Spartan, so powerful, fast and dangerous.

Best MP since the early days of Titanfall also... forgot how good Halo MP could be (it's been a while since it's been anywhere near this good IMO).

I'm not a big fan of radar but since footsteps aren't very distinct, I'd say the range should be buffed a bit. 30m in the beta was far too much, but 18 is basically useless. Either slightly increase the range or improve the audio cues. I'm seeing people crouchwalk more and more, which shouldn't be the effect a nerfed radar brings.

Warzone bosses should give points based on which team does the most damage. We seriously killed a 150pt boss to a sliver of health and an enemy zoomed up on a mongoose, ran into the boss on accident, killed him and got all the points.

Is something wrong with multiplayer? I played my first mp game of Halo ever and it was fun and I got a 1.5 kdr and it didn't record any of my stats, level me up, or anything

Still says 0 kills, etc when I check record

You should have pre-order REQ packs.

Just play 2-3 missions to get a feeling for the weapons and movement.

Breakout never had shields. Only health o_o

Did they remove shields from Breakout since last night?

Edit: I guess it never had shields... Well then, last night was weird cause I had shields... and so did the enemies.
Breakout has shields, the amount is low so there is no shield bar on the UI, all semi autos require one less trigger pull to kill. The mode that doesn't have shields is SWAT.

Yessss.

Ahhhh that explains a lot. Wondered why the enemies don't die as fast as in Swat because I don't have a shield bar I figured it must be without shields.

My feeling on the radar right now is that it is a valid gameplay shift that has made the game less enjoyable for me, currently.

The situational awareness the longer radar provided always felt like it made the game more about outshooting/outgrenading someone, since it was somewhat likely they'd know you were coming. In 5 so many more encounters feel like they are resolved by who saw the other person first, because the Arena radar can barely even tell you if someone is in the same room as you. It's not that I'm particularly bad at it or anything, it has just shifted some of the skill from outshooting someone to map movement. That's a perfectly valid gameplay shift, I'm just not sure it is making me enjoy it more. It just feels more arbitrary, especially with random teams who certainly aren't going to be locking down portions of the map or anything like that.

Footsteps are really easy to hear in this game

Just did Reunion on foot with 3 skulls active on heroic. No HUD, Grunt Bday party and not being able to see your weapon made the
warden eternal fight fun
Only took one try

Lack of content is really getting to me. Probably gonna get a refund if I dont feel differently in a week or 2. They built solid mechanics but some completely stupid design decisions take away from it.

Wait it out till the beginning of December as that is when the big update releases that will include forge and Big team battle.

great. I only get 16.627 kBit/s download speed. that's only 11% of my usual speed and of course my IP does not know jack shit about anything -_-.

that's probably it for me today. thanks for nothing unitymedia ;_;

Puts a few hours into the game Solo. Just got to Mission 7. Playing with Headphones is awesome. :D

Overall I am enjoying it. Love the fact that most encounters are basically sandboxes and multiple options are given for how you approach things. Early on I did not use the Fireteam Commands but later on they are actually very useful.

Looking forward to finishing Solo, then hunting for Skulls. Then maybe some MP. :D Hopefully Forge is early December and not late.

need to know where I can find the grunt bday skull!

WTF? Where do you live? 1995?

hey usually I've a 15mb/s connection..don't know whats wrong with it today, already reset my modem and router. nothing helped. so it must be the IP and they said "oh, we don't know anything about problems right now"

No, I don't play shooter campaigns anymore. I buy Call of Duty, Battlefield and other shooters purely for the online multiplayer and I've been playing arena shooters since Doom and Quake. Maybe it's just my age catching up to me but doing well in this particular game is more of a struggle for me than any other multiplayer shooter to date. I should mention that this is the first Halo game I've played outside of Halo 3 split screen at a friend's house.

seems you have a fair amount of experience so I would suggest you play the campaign. I was having a rough time as well before playing though the campaign.

I thought Germany had fast internet? Even 15 mb/s is in the slower tier here in America.

No worries, the dlc will fix that.

Wait, nevermind.

Oh. I hope they up the free map count.

Those do look cool in art form, but I want the maps to provide a greater play style variety with more unique art palettes.

The server will rotate through all of the maps in the playlist. However, if you back out and connect to a different server, you'll be on a different rotation so it's possible to miss a map or double up.

FYI, this isn't working properly. When playing, my team and I stay in the same server and end up playing on the same maps and gametimes multiple times in a row.

It then often cycles to a new one, and then right back to whatever one we were stuck on.

Bug preventing me from muting everyone is driving me nuts. How do I do the thing where I'm just in a party by myself so I won't hear children screaming?

I'm so bad at this game. I am happy when i can get a 1 K/D ratio.

Need to set up some training matches with other scrubs here on neogaf.

Scrub scrimms.
