Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Just beat it on heroic. I really, really fucking wish FPS devs would stop thinking that boss fights are fun. Every single one in this game was just a goddamn annoyance and no fun at all.

Also the last few missions were an absolute slog. I really don't know what happened there. The first 2/3 of the game are some of the best missions I think the series has had, but the last few are Halo 4 bullshit all over again. Awful by the numbers design. It's actually astounding to me given how good the rest of the game was.

So I finally jumped into MP last night, good stuff. I played maybe 4 games and it feels very smooth, the new movement options are great. However, I have a few questions/concerns about the system itself, hopefully someone can clear these up:

1. Are all the friends list/social features in the game? Because if so, if that's the only way I can see who's online, this is a major step back from the system in Reach, again. Simply telling me which of my friends are online is meaningless. I need to know which are playing halo, and furthermore, what they are doing in halo. Again, Reach: an active roster that shows you all of your friends in the game, even indicating which ones are partied up together. Selecting a friend tells you what they are doing, how much time is left in their game, and gives you the option to queue up to join them when available. Seriously, why has everything been a step backwards in this area since Reach?

2. In arena, I can't tell if it's matching me with new players each time. The matchmaking process became much less visible, and then I feel like there is no indication a full match is found and the game is starting. Also, I can hear randoms over voice chat in the lobby (and also in game) but there is no indication of who is talking. I don't even know if it's my team.

3. Someone explain these Req cards to me. I get them in packs for ranking up and...

I got a few arena XP boost cards. How and when do I use them?

So yeah. In general, the UI and its related systems is again my biggest problem with the game so far. Once again, Dave Candland's magic is sorely missed in another halo title.

Thought it was fixed but my connection on TWC is still fucked up, I can finish matches but halfway through I start getting lag and can't buy REQs

I've made some damn valuable allies on lopsided teams; sticking close, using stealth and grinding out a win with superior tactics.

Doesn't work when your headshots don't register because you're playing on servers on another continent. I ground-pounded a team, none of them counted even though I got a direct hit, and then got slaughtered by pistol fire immediately afterwards even though I shot a few in the head.

Nah, Warzone is great but Arena's just too much of a mess right now. Not letting us select datacenters was a mistake.

Spartans.. :D

Can you guys help me understand something, Cuz my head is spinning and am pretty mad.

Its about the whole thing with Locke vs the Chief.

I mean, it shouldn't have happend. Locke wouldn't have a chance to lay a finger on the Chief.

Chief was a soldier from the age of six.
Augmentation and what not. He could whipe out a whole covenant flee without a problem.

Hard training from childhood. Many missions and experience. And is much stronger.

So why or how did/ could Locke Ruin hes Visor. The Chief looked like he did have a little hard time trying to twist lockes arms and fight him.

And isn't the Chief Taler? We saw him with Palmer. He should be alot taler. So what gives?

Should be faster also in what was presented in the spoiler tag.

Am mad. Did not like that. So any of you guys have an explanation? :)

The Halo 5 Limited Edition is pretty bad...for $40 more you basically get a very cheap feeling steelbook. I paid $80 with GCU and I still feel ripped off. Oh well, it's Halo

Trying to learn the ropes and getting my ass handed to me in Arena but slowly getting better.

Still my K/D is minus a billion and the games ranks me as Diamond 1

wtf...

oh man, now that you write that...a lot of times in arena I could have sworn I hit/shoot my enemy but they just don't drop. I mean I had one game with a KD of 0.3(!!!!!) and I made myself crazy how bad I have become..;_;. maybe I was also on an US server :/?

MC went easy on him from my understanding. But when Locke punched im in the face and broke his visor, MC went serious and kicked lockes ass.

...Is that Fall of Reach animated stuff that's on the Halo Channel what comes with the upper tier editions of the game?

Because holy shit am I glad I didn't pay for that...good god that animation...

Seems very likely. I went from accurately headshotting people and getting a 4.0 K/D ratio the one game to finding myself consistently outgunned and scrubbing it up with a 0.3 ratio the next. Can't blame that just on being bad, no way. You know the aiming skills are there, and suddenly they disappear? Doesn't happen.

People get reckless when they think they got numbers

Heroic is fine,
the first two encounters ends very quickly, it's just the last one...

Loving Halo 5 so far. Initial thoughts:

1- The campaign is really fun and challenging on legendary. I like the story, and the missions are set up with a good variety of environments, enemies, and ways to tackle encounters. Much more fun and coherent than H3 to me. I don't get the complaints about the story. I haven't read any of the books outside of the graphic novel, and I think it does a perfectly acceptable job of making it understandable. Coop makes the campaign even more fun, I like how each spartan is a little different.

2 - The multiplayer is super solid. Haven't had this much fun since H2, and to me it actually feels like a more worthy successor to CE because there is no dual wield garbage or item pick ups from H3. The gameplay is so smooth and solid. Hits and kills are satisfying. I think the maps are pretty good, midship is the best as always. Dedi servers and even balance is 100000x better than where Bungie went with Destiny.

3 - Warzone is a great addition, only needs a few more maps for rotation variety. It is a great, low stress mode to go crazy in and not worry about losing so much. REQ cards are super fun, but I have to get over my hoarding tendencies. Also you gain enough REQ that you never feel pressured to buy packs. I've unlocked a bunch of gold packs already just after normal play.

Overall I think this is the best entry in the series to date, and I've been playing since CE.

without armor chief would probably rip him in half but with armor on they are somewhat equal.

i do agree that he seems to have shrunk lol. he seemed huge even next to palmer in halo 4

Sometimes the aiming fuckes me up badly

I mean, i get huge slowdowns when aiming horizontally, releasing the stick fix it but i's a big nuisance in the long term

So what kind of armor are Locke and Osiris wearing? I heard some in game dialogue about Mjolnir. But, it can't be the same Mjolnir Spartan 2's wear right? Since the only reason Chief and other Spartan 2s can wear it is because of the augmentations (only they are strong enough to control the suit). Are there different Mjolnirs? Or did Locke and new Spartans receive some sort of augmentations? Was up wit dat?

they also got some upgrades on their human bodies.

Wait... are there no BTB maps either? Not even for customs?

I don't see any. Where is Blood Gulch remake?

God, just give me another Strongholds game. I don't want to play Arena anymore.

Gonna wind up in Bronze at this rate, so many bad connections. Last game my grenade throws were so late that I ran through my own throwing animations.

Their bodies are augmented but not to the same extent as S-IIs. They wear Mjolnir Gen 2 that enhances their speed/strength to S-II in Mjolnir levels.

Without armor S-II roflstomps S-IV.
With Mjolnir the fight is more even (S-IIs have more experience/better training so they should still beat S-IVs).

Gotta say, with all the talk that's gone on in games lately about representation of minorities and women, it's nice to play a big AAA game that stars a black man leading a team that includes an equal amount of men and women, and is half minorities.

Anybody playing at the moment? Warzone, Arena, whichever.

Amen to that.

Even with the armor. Its just shouldn't happend from what we know about MC. I mean the whole war with the covenant and the flood and the brutes
didn't make him suffer or looks like he had a hard time doing those fights like what we saw with Locke. It was a really bad cutscene 343.

And the tall thing..Yeah..I mean. WTF..
Am sure Frankie wouldn't answer.

On launch the connection was perfect for me. Today it is slightly off. Taking way more shots to kill people, I guess some aren't registering.

I cannot figure out how to do well in free for all. Do you watch one area of the map? Charge? I just can't figure it out. I'm constantly having kills stolen, shot in the back, getting double teamed. I get about 18 kills a round and sometimes I can pull out a win, but I feel like I'm missing some strategical piece.

There a ton of people so it's harder to control an area of the map.
