Fallout 4 has gone gold; leaked gameplay vids

I did the same as I had some unused holiday left over. And as my last shift is on Monday (should get away early) and I'm not back until Friday 27th that'll make it 17 days in total. Should be enough time to get 50% done?

Damn, if I had the time I would have done something similar. But luckily Wed is Veterans Day which is a bank holiday, so I only had to use two vacation days.

So when comparatives/media will show up?? I wanna know where to spend my money... on PS4 or XBO...

I think only after launch.

I don't think that they will take any advantage of PS4 hardware and I wouldn't be surprised if end up looking worse, without AF for example.

The character creation is going to take me hours, let alone getting my S.P.E.C.I.A.L. distributed in a satisfactory way. No sleep for me. This is too important.

Yo, back at E3 when I watched this game get announced and saw it for the first time I didn't give a shit about it and time flew by like it was nothing.

Now that I'm into this game, preordered a few days ago, saw a bunch of youtube videos, watchEd the ShoddyCast series, and learned a good bit about how SPECIAL worked here on Gaf time is fucking crawling. This sucks. I just want to play this thing already.

What's your history with the series?

We don't have any more real gameplay videos aside that one e3 presentation and a few snippets, right?

I'm keeping it that way. Unbelievable I'm less than 2 weeks away from going into a new Fallout game with no knowledge of it outside of the original reveal.

How is this game not in marketing blitz mode? Skyrim was literally everywhere for months leading up to release. This game is scarily quiet, but then... they have every reason to believe it will sell millions without marketing I suppose.

I've been watching the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. videos and finding myself getting really hyped for this, but I've been wanting to play FO3 and New Vegas, so I feel like I should do that first.

But I'm really tempted to just do that later and pick this up right away. >_>

Skyrim had no lots-of-trailers, live streams etc. They did exactly the same release strategy.

I just saw a Fallout 4 advert on TV here, and I've seen a cinema ad too. Same happened with Skyrim.

Just confirmed at work that I indeed have the week from 9 to 16 of november off.

First time in my life I have taken time off from work (or school) for a videogame.

Now watch someone get sick or something and I cant take that week off >_>

I really thought that sites would have be allowed hands on time with the game before release but that doesn't look like that is going to happen. I also wonder when reviews will go up?

I don't know, man. Skyrim gameplay was all over the magazines and websites. They hosted "come and play for hours and do whatever you want in the game" days. Smart move as journalists all came away with different stories to tell. Then they sent the journalists screenshots of the characters they created, allowing them to be used in their articles and at the same time also showcasing character creation potential to fans. Plus there was the Game Informer issue, and all those monthly updates as a result of that.

With Fallout 4 we've had nothing like that. Just the July showcase at E3 and no-one outside Bethesda has touched the game yet, have they? No previews at all unless I'm being an idiot and have missed them all.

The review copies are filtering out. NDA expires Mon 9.

Dark, no sites had footage pre release from their own hands on. It was all managed.

I have a bday to go to on release day. Then I'm going to feel like crap the next day. But after that its marathon time.

That was was me and skyrim. It came out on a fucking Friday and it was two friends birthday. Played like 20 minutes then had to go out. Woke up at about 8 the next morning incredibly hungover and on about 3 hours sleep. Played the rest of the day.

Nope that's not possible on Xbox One. But what i meant is..if i were to buy an externall HDD (SSD) how much improvements would there be?

I think you should give http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-xbox-one-external-hard-drive-upgrade-guide a read. TL:DR; more or less is that USB3.0 [also external drive better be 3.0!] has more than enough bandwidth to support SSD drives, and results in lower loading times. How much benefit could be seen in FO4 is hard to say.

This is probably a beaten horse, but I would applaud Bethesda if the reason for the "modest" leap in graphics is to prioritize optimization and QA revising. Crossing fingers for a solid launch!

Im sorry but as someone who played FO3 recently (and New Vegas), anyone that says FO4 looks the same has some big ass rose colored glasses on. That game does not look nearly as good as people think it did

Yep. But they also say it's not really worth it yet, the differences weren't all that big. But sadly they didn't compare it for some more recent games. I'd be curious how much faster the loading times in Witcher 3 are on Xbox One with an SSD.
