Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

is there something wrong with the map selection algorithm. Multiple times I've had the same map 4 or 5 times in a row.

Surely this is not intentional.

Ugh... I really don't like Breakout. And I can't seem to stop getting it.

I'll admit it - after four losing games in a row, I went ahead and quit out of the fifth.

lol that's one reason pros play with it disabled. the other is that it tells you the exact location of the player. so competitive games with radar enabled consist of toggle crouch warriors.

If anything we should go back to Halo 2 style (or is it 3? I don't remember) where the radar shows a dot flashing with every pulse the radar gives. And no vertical indication.

When the level 2 drums kick in...pure gold.

A bit worried the bizarre cutoff in the post-mission cutscene (one with
Roland getting upset
) is a sign of what's to come. I get that jumping between the two parties doesn't seem like it would leave much room for the usual supporting cast but don't stop a scene right in the middle of a discussion!

I'm the opposite - I am totally into this campaign. I am LOVING it, it's really grown on me. I'm ranking this up as my 2nd favourite single player halo experience (behind CE, because nothing will ever top that first time you drive a Warthog and all the marines jump in). Mission 8 or 9 at the mo'.

I think this is an absolutely fantastic entry in the Halo series, brilliant.
It's really good, right? Easily above Halo 4 for me, and probably overtaking Reach and 2, maybe 3...

I really love the voices they've given the Promethean enemies. They sound like pissed off posh people, it's great. The Didact and
Warden Eternal
have outstanding voice work too, just a great job all round.
Love that description. I completely agree.

Just started the campaign today on Legendary after finishing all the campaigns in MCC on Solo Legendary. I've only played the first level so far. Not sure I like the team system. You die much faster in this game than any of the others to balance out having 4 people and the ability to get revived. I feel this is really hurting the balance of the solo experience though. It's a revive fest, Definitely feels like a co-op campaign with a solo option rather than a solo campaign with a co-op option like the other games in the series.

Also annoyed at the lack of intel subtitles.

I'll probably get used to it after a few missions though. I remember Halo 2 feeling really off after being used to Halo: CE, but it feels great now. The core gameplay of 5 feels fantastic.

That one is easily the worst offender. I don't think there's another cutscene in the game that ends as abruptly as that one.

I pretty much enjoyed everything about the campaign. Completed it Co-Op on Legendary.
I'm ready for Halo 6 now. Bring it on 343i!

I find the down/revive stuff to make the game easy mode on heroic.

Am I a crazy person for reloading last checkpoint when i am downed instead of waiting for the revive?

I wish they would patch in an option that only teammates can be revived, not you.

That's what I do. Master Chief will never be on his knees. I just play like its Hotline Miami and restart on downed. I hate the revive mechanic.

Mission 6 verticality is orgasmic. Damn. If this game keeps it up it may end up being my favorite Halo campaign since 3, it's well on its way there. I was skeptical that this game would even be for me, and the reviews bummed me out a bit as someone who mostly cares about campaign, but this is such an improvement over 4 to me right now. I'm really enjoying this.

Edit: Haha, I just died at the end of the mission cause I couldn't stop staring at the scenery.

That's the one right after the first boss? Cause i stopped playing after killing him. Keep the other missions for tomorrow and weekend.

This is something i feared would happen. That the revive mechanic makes the game less fun.

Yep, mission 5 has the first boss encounter. 6 and 7 are pretty much perfect missions to me, and I didn't even finish 7 yet. I want to savor it. It's my favorite mission 343 has done so far. Made me lose it a little bit.

I really wouldn't mind reviving other people in solo or having it in online co-op.

It made the fight with the two hunters a lot more tense. They really take you down quick.

I just cannot get into FFA in this game. Something feels...off? Is it the FOV? I played Lone Wolves 98% of the time in past Halos, but something doesn't feel right in this one.

I think I'm going to snap twitch and listen to Bob Ross while playing warzone. I figure one of two things are going to happen:
1. I'm just calm and don't get too upset that I suck at Halo MP.
2. I get into this zen like state and become a warzone god with happy little headshots.

Having pickups on the map completely takes away from the mode. If someone is just going to pick up a DMR and just sit in the back of the map with it what's the point? That shit isn't fun.

Same goes for the melee. Why do you think everyone runs around trying to Spartan Charge? It's cheap as shit and it works.

IMO 343 need to drop more maps soonish and let us pick preferred region (GoW:UE style) because I'm sick of playing the same maps over and over on high-latency dedis.

There are ways to counter everything. Breakout has limited sigh lines, so it's easy to flank someone that is sitting back with a DMR. Also it's easy to hear someone sprinting around to avoid them trying to charge you.

Show's unavailable for me :/

It's completely optional. Just don't request a revive. That's one of the reasons the x button is used for that mechanic instead of it being automatic.

Is it too much to ask for them to fix the motion tracker?

Make it so you can't drop off of it by crouching
Make it so it doesn't show the exact location of a player
Don't show elevation differences
Keep it at 18m

Problem solved. That way it watches your back without telling you too much information. Playing with the radar disabled in a game with unpredictable movement thanks to Sprint is stupid. Can barely hear other players in this game despite having Astros.

Oh so you mean make it like Destiny's? No, please no. That game has the absolute worst radar in the world.

The radar needs to have a range increase if anything.

I love that you guys made the revive optional with this method. Allows for the same difficulty as before if wanted.

No. On smaller maps, a motion tracker with increased range makes it more of a crutch. Again, that is why players were encouraged to crouch around everywhere.

Range is the only problem with Destiny's motion tracker. Bungie otherwise solved the main issues with Halo's.

Didn't know this - i just go to the start menu and pick last checkpoint.

It doesn't really make sense to wait around every death. Faster to just go to the menu and restart.

Would you ever consider a menu toggle to just speed up the restart from checkpoint process by disabling revives and just go to last checkpoint after death?

player character ragdolls and the camera pulls out and up, just like old halo. Restarts at checkpoint after 2 seconds or something.
