Ditto but there is Amazon if you're in an area where Amazon Logistics deliver because Amazon Logistics give zero fucks for waiting for the release day. I've had so much turn up a day early, most recently The Nathan Drake Collection.

But I want Fallout 4 digitally and I'm buggered if I'm paying for a disc version too!

Being in Cornwall means i might as well be in France. Which coincedently is where ive ordered my pipboy edition. Nevermind. Midnight queuing in the cold for me for my ps4 copy

I'm debating about ordering from Amazon UK, then. I have the digital version but I like the idea of a few hours on Monday night. How much money do I want to burn..
There's no guarantee your local branch is as bad (good?) as mine - Bromley by Bow but I wish you luck!

Digital? I'm only tending to buy big (40Gb+) games on disc and Fallout 4 is under 30Gb and the preload will blitz that several days before.

It's compatible with all versions. Basically you can control your Pip-Boy in game with your phone or tablet. So you can access it without interrupting the game. Like pulling up the map and looking at it. Changing radio stations or even changing equipment and administrating a Stimpack.

is it getting an ipad version?????????

10th november, while only 10 days away, feels like forever.

I still haven't made my mind up on which platform to get it. I'd like PC but I'm gonna need to wait and see how it performs. Might just get it on PS4 or XB1.

I'm still surprised about how everything went. Announcing and releasing the game the same year. No hands on impressions from the press at all and now they all are receiving review copies. Has this ever happened for any other game before? BGS doing quite the unusual here. I am liking it though.

Unfortunately i own one collection and thats fallout merch. So digital would not work. I need a ps4 / xbox / pc box for my glass cabinet. Its a disease this collecting melarchy.

It's Bethesda. They're basically up there with Rockstar now. Assuming their games stay good, they don't need to flirt with the press and Twitch streamers and YouTube etc. They are capable of having the game itself do the talking.

(Another thing BGS have down is development - the entire Fallout 4 and Skyrim teams only about 100 people, all working in one office. Compare to AC Unity with 800 people across lots of countries).

Has anyone found out when the review embargo on Fallout is going up? Seeing on social media that the press is getting the game now.

From an earlier post in this thread it's the 9th. OpenCritic (whatever that is, I've never heard of it) has an I'm impressive countdown indicating 12 midday GMT (so earlier in Americaland).

On the plus side this means I can have a lay in on Monday, have a lazy afternoon reading non-spoiler reviews then either wait for midnight to get a few hours in, or more likely go to bed at 8pm and wake at 6am and plough straight into the game.

Who I am kidding, I'll be playing from bed at 12.01am from my Vita!

Aside from the gap between reveal and release, Rockstar (GTA at least) are similar

They don't need to tell people to be excited

This is definitely one of the times that working for the government pays off, I now get Veterans Day off which happens to be the day after Fallout 4 comes out.

True true. But Rockstar still marketed GTA V a lot more, now of course that's partly because they announced it quite early, but they still invited press to come check it out too and eventually play it as well, before sending out review copies. Before F4's official announcement i was definitely expecting to be waiting at least a year before release or longer. This year has been fucking awesome.

Pre-ordered my copy this morning. Can't believe Fallout 4 is less than two weeks away from release. Only a few months ago people had spent years speculating it's very existence...

Now that we have seen few unboxings of PC version of Pipboy edition we know for sure that physical release comes with 1x 4.7GB DVD. Even with some sick compression people will be looking at ~20GB download on 10th.

That really sucks for those going with physical because of bandwidth and/or data caps.

So it's not double layered? That's really being cheap.

Yep, this and the pip boy looking cheaper than I expected, I may very well cancel everything and just pick it up on steam

Are DL's even that common? Afaik industry mostly uses regular 4.7GB DVD's.

Edit: If it's DL then you are looking at "only" ~10GB download, assuming some sick compression

No clue, last physical PC game I bought I don't have handy to see if it was a SL or DL disc. Either way, they're not that much more to produce vs the SL discs.

It does suck for people who are going physical due to slow download speeds, though. It's a shame bluray PC drives weren't widely adopted.

I'm surprised there's so much collector's edition backlash at this point. They showed exactly what it looked like and everything that was included months ago. I wish it wasn't so shiny, but it's a Pip-Boy that lights up and actually works. Doesn't get much better than that.

There was never incentive to pick one up. They cost way too much, gaming industry didn't even try release PC games on BluRay's and initially there was metric ton of issues with playing BluRay movies with those drives. Now BluRay players being so cheap and PC gaming being basically 99% digital there is even less reason to invest in still costly BluRay drive.

Yeah. They're fairly cheap now (You can find them for $50 or less) but with the heavy digital push and no publishers releasing physical copies on blurays there's really no point.

how do you guys know the press has copies

who has them

Small number of people playing it on PC
Videos of reviewers unboxing the Limited Editions I think

And its a game that'll require at least a week for them tho get the full experience, short of one of those silly 'review bootcamps'

I am all that more excited about Fallout 4 when I heard that ID Software helped Bethesda on the gunplay.

Now they just need to find another company who can help them with their Elder Scrolls titles.

CDPR did decent fantasy RPG not that long ago :b

Anyone else doing my craziness?

Pipboy Edition but getting digital to play @ 12am I think as well.

It's only semi crazy. You should be able to sell the game new for $50. Playing it several hours early to me is worth it. Though I decided I could just wait anyway for the ups guy on the 10th.

The biggest issue I have with the combat in Skyrim specifically is the lack of feedback. There's nothing there to give you a sense of weight, or connection during combat. It's just hit them until they crumple and fall over, or snipe from a distance and fall over.

They're missing something, I don't know, visceral I guess.

Bethesda only needs help with characters and combat in Elder Scrolls. CDPR can help with characters, but the only fantasy games I've played with worse combat than the Elder Scrolls is the Witcher series.

I'm hoping Torn Banner, the team for Chivalry, gets on the next Elder Scrolls for combat.

Torn Banner has what you need.

Yes, there are 10 people playing review copies on Steam right now.

Game Informer just tweeted they will be launching a special "Making of Fallout 4" feature in a few days. Edit: just refreshed thread.
