Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Well it's not a video but here's my summary of the plot before 5:

Humanity in the future. A smart lady who is also a total dick (Halsey) creates super soldiers from kidnapped children (Spartans) for military purposes. Same lady is doing personal research on strange alien shit across the galaxy and created an AI to help her (Cortana).
Surprise! There's a group of a few alien races all in a club together (the Covenant) and they seem to want humans dead. Lucky we have all these super soldiers. Well that worked out okay for a while until most of them died, time to start planning the next batch.

Humans lose a huge battle on one of their most populous worlds. One ship in particular gets the fuck out of there.
Well, they thought they went somewhere random, turns out their AI on board (Halsey's Cortana) jumped them to one of those strange alien structures because she wanted to check that shit out. A giant ringworld (Halo).
Turns out the Covenant is already here checking it out too. Whoops.

The resident super soldier on board (Master Chief) and his best buddy AI Cortana (in his suit now) go kick some ass and try to figure out what's going on.
Turns out the Halo was created by an ancient extinct race of powerful aliens (the Forerunners), and the covenant worship them as gods. The Covenant believe that if they activate the Halo it will trigger their "great journey" to heaven or whatever. The reality is that it was created as a weapon to wipe out all life in the galaxy.

Why? Because there is a creepy ass parasite life form (the Flood) that infects and takes over all life of a certain sufficient mass. It's so dangerous that the Forerunners created Halos as last-resort weapons to wipe the galaxy clean and let it start over from specimens kept in something like Noah's ark. And that actually happened a long time ago, which is why Forerunners dont exist anymore.
So what's the first thing the covenant do on the newly discovered Halo? Fucking accidentally released the Flood, which were kept contained on the structures for research purposes. Shit gets real and Master Chief/Cortana manage to blow the Halo up. Galaxy saved.
So the covenant go off in search of more Forerunner shit to try and trigger the Great Journey.

Eventually the covenant discover a hidden portal that will teleport them to the giant structure that controls all of the other halos across the galaxy. The Master Chief/Cortana end up following the covenant there. Again they manage to stop them, but he gets stranded there with no way to get back home. Cortana isn't feeling so hot about this because AIs have a short lifespan before they go crazy and they likely wont be rescued for many years. Many of the members of the Covenant learn the truth and splinter off as allies to Earth, while others maintain devotion.

In the time that Chief was in cryosleep hoping for something good to happen, the Covenant managed to find the Forerunner equivalent of a cryotube and actually wake one up (the Didact). A living forerunner, not just one of their leftover AIs. Unfortunately he's not one of the nice forerunners, he's a military commander who holds a grudge against humans for some shit that happened back in his day. He awakens all kinds of foreunner AI robot shit and finds his own personal Death Star. Chief wakes up and gets to work on that problem, later meeting up with the military.

Meanwhile Cortana is sort of losing her mind, shes well past her expiration date. She uses this to her advantage by uploading her crazy broken self into all of the Didact's forerunner shit which really ruined his day and results in his death. This kills the Cortana. Master Chief cries and writes about it in his diary (not really) and goes on with his life. He usually goes lone wolf but since he's feeling lonely, he decides to find some of his old spartan buddies to talk about boys or something.

Then Halo 5.
You did completely skip Halo 2 (Delta Halo, Covenant Civil War, Arbiter) but good job.

Well it's not a video but here's my summary of the plot before 5:

Then Halo 5.

Thanks man. Really appreciate it. Will go read this and watch that video posted earlier now.

Decided to mess around in some pvp for a while and oh boy am I terrible. I'm beginning to think aiming down sight with most guns isn't really correct in this game, I think? Not sure what I'm struggling with yet. I do pretty well in Destiny PvP but in this I can't kill shit.

I keep getting matched up with the worst teammates in platinum. I thought you were at least supposed to not suck in platinum. I think 343 made a huge mistake by not allowing people to fall out of divisions.

Really having big issues ranking up in Team Arena when I keep getting grouped with leavers for the past few matches. I had a pretty fun CTF match between though.

I'm going to just take a break as this is seriously stressing me out. How can I win Strongholds with two people?

I can't wait for the banhammer to hit leavers hard.

Warzone is boring and not enjoyable for me.

Arena all the way. I hope at least we have a good balance and map desing in BTB so ı can try something different than arena once in a while..Wish 343 made Invasion rather than this clusterluck Warzone..

Warzone is sooo much better than Invasion.

Warzone is such a poorly designed, half finished slugfest.

Terrible map design and a completely passive experience that never finds its groove. Good on paper, but I feel like they put the boring Spartan Ops team from Halo 4 on this mode. If that's the case, it shows.

Lol it's as passive or aggressive as you want it to be...

It's just a snoozefest.

The mode feels like a constant flakiness experience with no peaks and valleys.

On paper, this mode should work, but it's a lot of running and waiting to respawn.

I thought warzones was going to be a bad game mode that just made me wish for BTB, but I'm actually really enjoying it. Just had an awesome last second come back.

This is neogaf.gif

The mode can be a lot of things, but I do not agree with the snooze fest comment.

Invasion is the best BTB(kinda) mode since Halo 3 mate..Reach BTB was not good, Halo 4 BTB was bollocks and Halo 5 warzone is broken and pointless. Invasion was tactical and ı remember having tons of funs with my friends..

Oh you mean the whole starting with pistol that did nothing and Elites having a plasma rifle? Or do you just remember the mode so fondly because it allowed you to totally crap on kids?

Just finished my solo Legendary run.

I very much enjoyed both the story and the game play. Sincerely don't understand all the criticism some reviews made.

343i vastly improved the Prometheans, but they are still a lot less interesting to fight than the Covenant.

Story wise (spoilers):
I really liked where they took it. I liked how Cortana was portrayed. Just wish they'd spend more time on the other members of Blue Team. I;m a huge Fred fanboy, wish we could've learnt more about them, even if it was a quick snippet like Cortana does about Osiris in the last mission.

Oh,
and FUCK THOSE 2 AND 3 WARDENS. God damn, must have spent a good half hour in each encounter.

Sounds like youre just not understanding Warzone honestly. Its way more tactical than any BTB type experience before it. Doesnt hurt the maps are all great. Invasion maps were bad IMO and one had Spartans spawning in the high ground with DMRs and Elites spawning below with no precision weapons. That is just awful design.

Some REQ-related numbers in the new community update:

B IS FROM BRAVO said:
Only 118 players have unlocked the Technician Override armor set.
Just 115 players have unlocked Buck’s Helljumper Legendary Helmet.
Only 10 players have completed all Loadout weapon commendations and unlocked the corresponding emblem.
Just 22 Oathsworn (Kelly’s Shotgun) REQs have seen the Warzone battlefield.
Only 18 Nornfang (Linda’s Sniper Rifle) REQs have seen the Warzone battlefield.
Just 8 Prophet’s Bane REQs have seen the Warzone battlefield.

With over a million of copies sold (haven't seen any numbers from MS, but this probably true?), I didn't expect numbers like this. It is so hard to acquire rare REQs.

The one use super rare items seem really really stupid. It'd make more sense to limit them to one use per game or something, otherwise odds are very good you'll get one, kill two dudes, die, and not see another one for a month or whatever. What's the point?

Yeah, this seems a much better way to handle it. If they really are so rare that only 8 people have had a Prophet's Bane or whatever, then making them permanent unlocks sounds fairer. As it stands, should I be lucky enough to get a super rare drop, I can't see myself ever actually using it.

Totally agree with this.
No one will use those legendary weapons REQ cards. Well, maybe 20 poor guys who accidentally press the wrong buttons.

Is there a fireteam thread somewhere, or should I just use this one?

Halo 5 isn't super popular on most of the forums I frequent, and I need to meet some halobros, a year on PSN playing Destiny has done my XBL list no favors.

Tfw in diamond breakout and constantly being the worst player in the match. Nothing like getting called Kid, I didn't ask to be placed in this tier.

343 messed up by not allowing people to derank from a Division. I imagine MANY people are ranking up to Division's they aren't able to play at Competitively, but are stuck with it because they can't fall down.

There is a supposed to be a MMR system as well, sort of behind the scenes skill ranking. So if you are placed in a Division and begin consistently doing bad against people in a similar rank, your MMR will go down and place you against people of similar skill (even if in a different Rank). At least that is how I understand it.

I think this is true, but they need to do a way better job of advertising it if so.

Somehow i managed to get Diamond in FFA after 10 games. God knows what possed me to play it because i hate FFA and tbh my results were mixed - i had a few games where i did pretty well and a few where i did terribly, but most of the time i was just a mid their player tbh

Edit: also does anyone know how to unlock stuff outside of REQs and promotional stuff? I remember 343 saying most unlocks would be from REQs but that some would be from commendations/completing stuff in game etc. Is this still true?

Question about a particular fight in mission 14.
FUCK THE 3 WARDENS. How the hell am I supposed to beat them? Playing on heroic, haven't even managed to take one down. Any tips? Team mates all just die if I tell them to focus fire, and die a bit slower if I don't. Argh.

I also got it yesterday
