Erm, been trying to look around and am a bit confused.

Hyped for this game but...should I be looking into a XBOne controller for my PC to play this? I have a 360 one but it occurred to me that might not be compatible. I sill got time before the game arrives, but....

360 controller will work perfectly fine.

Maybe it's too early for this question, but I will ask.
Do we know if the game has many bugs?
Games with the scope of F4 will always have an above average bug count in retail environments. It's systems are just too random and numerous for a qa team to completely tackle. Once it's out in millions of people's hands, bugs will occur, qa will reproduce, and fixes will be made.

So this companion app coming out, what exactly is it useful for? Anyone know, or have a link with more info?

You can use standard PipBoy functions on it. They rebuilt Pip Boy in the app. It syncs with the game. Eg view map, attributes, items etc.

What new features does Fallout 4 actually have? What's the big feature they're pushing? From the wiki page it seems like deeper weapon customization and making your own settlements are the big things.

only played new vegas for like 1-2 hrs, can you play the whole game with a melee build? ;>

Nobody knows enough about Fallout 4 to confirm but I'd say this is likely given the past games were very accommodating in letting you approach them in your own way. ManyATrueNerd did a no kill run through New Vegas and completed most of the quests with zero kills of any humans, animals or robots. Impressive stuff!

Kind of on the fence. Never played a fallout game but the setting appeals. Is it easy enough to get into? And how bloody/sweary/sexy does it get? If I'm going to sink hours into it, it would be handy if I can play in the living room so my wife doesn't get pissed off at being abandoned. And that means possibly playing around my kids (11&14)

It's very gory and there is probably going to be at least some swearing.

Gonna wait and see how optimized it is. I really don't have a benchmark to compare it to, but Mad Max ran great on my PC but it still was trucking at 98 CPU usage. I imagine FO4 will be CPU dependent as well.

So is this over WiFi? Or how is it syncing? Bluetooth? Lol

Edit: gasp... Or is it over the internet (always online game confirmed????!)

Voiced MC is a pretty huge change for a Bethesda game.

Dude, I got da week off. I'm so ready holy shit. I'm BEYOND ready. Like, there needs to be a new word for now ready I am.

To continue the one-upmanship I have that full week and the Monday after :)

(It's my birthday on the 11th and I always take a week and a day off, the Fallout release is just a massive and welcome coincidence.)

My paranoia is kicking into overdrive, with Bethesda not doing any sort of media previews, and only a tiny drip feed of videos (and almost none of gameplay), it makes me wonder how confident they are the game is actually any good.

If you know your game is killer, you want to show it to all and sundry, with previews where media can do whatever they like. Why haven't they shown anything?

So is the game awesome, and they feel they don't need to bother with the media? Or, is it a steaming turd, which would explain the dearth of previews.

...I'll probably buy it anyway...

A week ago I was looking forward to the game but at the same time rather indifferent on buying it day one. I couldn't help myself and pulled the trigger. I hope my grades won't suffer too much. :<

I really feel like Bethesda should release one last trailer or something, to get the hype levels up. It's dead here and on Reddit, which is unusual.

Every time there's new news or something similar, hype goes into overdrive and the buzz gets going. We want to be hyped Bethesda!!

I was hoping they would release a something small, like the Big Leagues video, everyday until release. That would've been perfect.

Not really understanding the total lack of game footage.

I'm not worried about the state of the game or anything, they've been working on it for 5 years (a bit longer if early leaks were true) it's just stupid that they think people are still generating a buzz with no marketing whatsoever.

It just doesn't make sense, fair enough, they know for a fact it's still going to sell millions of copies, but the lack of a marketing push is crazy in my eyes. They should be wanting to market the shit out of it.

Maybe we'll get something next week?

Edit: Todd Howard and Pete Hines did warn us about this though at E3. They said that they won't be showing a lot of footage due to spoilers and wanting people to experience it for themselves. They even mentioned the leaked stuff from the other year and they seemed pissed off

Probably just another way of saying "hey, we've spent millions upon millions, making the game. We really don't wanna spend upwards of $30,000,000 marketing it".

I seem to remember skyrim being handled the same way. Lots of hype at the conventions and then not a lot of pr until release date. So I'm not worried about it.

layered armor customization is new as well same for power armor customization

Skyrim did have hands-on previews before launch though. And they eventually released the Quakecon demo too.

Still, I think it's more that they're confident it's going to sell well and want people to discover for themselves.
