Fallout 4 has gone gold; leaked gameplay vids

The PS4 version is going to be built off the XB1 code. I can't see bethesda, who has a very close relationship with MS, making anything better about the PS4 version.

If so, the XB1 version should look worse. There's not many 1080p open world games for XB1.

Depends really, if they use dynamic or not. If it's locked 1080p (which I'm hoping it isn't) then I'd guess the IQ is medium at best. It's definitely a big step up from Fallout 3.

All that aside it looks pretty good to me. Will it prevent me from enjoying this for hours on end on my Xbox? Hell naw.

Draw distance seems considerably better in the e3 demo. I presume this is what we can expect for the PC version.

Nothing too shocking, witcher 3 on PC had a huge increase of LOD over consoles.

Gonna stop reading GAF threads on Fallout 4. You guys rip apart games in such detail without having any actual hands on time with them.

I find myself enjoying games less because of reading about them on GAF.

Is that a me problem? Probably.

I'm just excited for Fallout 4.

maybe im just blind with hype but i think the shots look pretty good, obviously this isn't a game thats focus is graphical showcase, but the rad roach, some of the furniture and environmental elements, and the soldier in the power armor, all look pretty good

also dig the loot screen and the hud, tbh

Lack of drawing distance, lackluster interior lighting and overall texture quality are eye sores for myself, I expected them to be higher quality all around. Still won't take me off from hypetrain, Day 0 [thanks VPN] for me!

At times, ignorance can be bliss. I've stopped reading analysis on blu ray video quality for series and movies because I felt in the past it made me regret purchases. What a day it was when I realized how horrible banding could be.

Fallout New Vegas is my favorite game of all time, and I played it on 360. Graphics literally mean nothing when the game is brimming with things to do, see and experience. That aside, I really like what I've seen of the game visually, so that hasn't even registered as a concern here.

Exactly. It's not like I won't notice a lot of this stuff on my own, but having it all picked apart and shat on for weeks before a game launching, that's where I'm wearing thin.

If it runs as smoothly as the E3 videos on PS4 and looks like this I'll be ecstatic. Still not loving the look of HUD though. A transparency setting might help.

Ive had to do the exact same thing.

I feel like I'm looking for the problems before I even give myself a chance to enjoy the game.

i don't get the issue with the draw distance, thats how far you can see right? looks alright to me. although objects don't appear to be as detailed far off, is that the issue?

The most recent example for me is, obviously, Halo 5. Sure I noticed some things on my own, but I'd have never felt like they were real distractions on my own.

Fallout 4 looks beautiful to me. People complain about lack of shadows and such, or lack of draw distance compared to the E3 footage, but we are analyzing screenshots from different angles of the terrain. Nothing shot for shot of the demo. I'm not saying there's not a downgrade, but I'm saying just to wait for he 10th.

If they do it like Skyrim then they have several different drawing distances they can adjust. These pictures imply that PS4 will have very low drawing distance for shadows, objects and will have very aggressive LOD [Level Of Detail] drop for drawn objects.

Ach its an enthusiast site and people are keen, however it does lend itself to over analysis. Ive just decided that its better if I lock myself away from the massive threads dedicated to a particular game.

I dread to think whats in store for UC4 after seeing the Halo 5 thread.

Has there been any info on download sizes when disc is put in to a ps4?
Im picking up my game on saturday morning and want to know how long it will be until i can actually play it. Im guessing as even compression will mean at least 10-20gb? Or am i way off?

From the official FAQ:

Console Storage Space
Make sure you have enough space in the vault to store Fallout 4.
Fallout 4 requires 28-35 GB depending on territory and languages supported.

It's 28Gb here in the UK because we only get English voices in the regionalised version.

Wow that PS4 screenshots thread. It's amazing how much hate people have for Bethesda games. I mean I'm not a fan of mobile gaming or shooters but I just avoid those threads because I get that others like those games. I mean I get the game looks kind of lousy graphically but some people over there are practically giddy. Whatever makes them happy I guess.

I'm with others here. All I care about is Fallout right now. The hype is here for me. I have Witcher 3 calling my name and I can't even think about it.

Darn. Gone are the day of plug and play cartridges. My internet is so sucky that 28gb is about 16 hours wont be playing until sunday night then. Might be better off just preloading a digital preorder at that rate!

I can see people having issue with that draw distance but that's why you buy PCs :D

Let's not go nuts. DF consistently reports most AAA games have console graphics levels in the medium-to-high level in terms of PC settings. This means many multiplatform games support PC hardware which is below what the consoles offer.

Not everybody will have a PC that will play the game better than the consoles will. It's crazy how all PC owners seem to forget (or conveniently ignore) the millions of shit PCs around that folks don't upgrade often but will still want to game on.

You dont download anything with the disc, it'll be installed and use the disc as verification.
The only thing you will need to download is a patch if is there one at launch.

To install you will need around 28GB-35GB hard drive space.

Yeah, I took a short look through that thread... think I'm staying out of that one.

Sorry, I think I mis-read your post. I assume you're getting it on disc and you want to know how big the day one patch is? Nobody knows yet and in any case if you're buying this on Saturday (next Saturday, the 7th November?) the day one patch probably won't be out before launch on Tuesday 10th November.

If you're getting the game early on disc, you should be able to play straight away minus the day one patch.

I have managed to confuse myself. I blame the hype.

Yea seems every game I enjoy gets tore to shreds on gaf it never really affected me before but seeing the negativity on every thread starts to claw away at me.

If you buy it on disc you can play it within minutes and the only download will be patches. We'll find out how big they are soon enough! :)

Saturday it is then. Must buy beer, chicken, couple cans of monster and a pack of skittles :D

Thanks for unconfusing my simple mind.

Bah! I get to play frakin Fallout 4 in 8 days. Ain't nobody getting me down!

Seriously I have been waiting for a new Fallout game for years and I already know it's going to be one of my favorite games of all time, being what it is, regardless of how well received it is or how many "bargain bin" comments the game gets.

My god. That screenshot thread is literally a cesspool of shitty comments. Half the people probably won't play it but can't wait for a chance to talk it down.

The graphics are on par, and even then mods and pc capability will make it even better, what else can you expect from a console build? smh

Seems like some people cant fathom that a game can be great even if there isnt lifelike graphics and its being developed by a crew of 1500 people.

Spot on.
Was the same with the pipboy thread yesterday. My guess was alot of people mad at not getting their preorders in on time. Because i dont understand being judged on what i can spend my disposible income on?
