Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Adding in sprint, different style maps an the hundreds of small other changes pushes it way away from halo though. Anyways, I will just hope 343 can try a true halo in the design points that matter and that's all I can do.

Halo reach is much closer to the design of halo than 4 or 5 , even by a large margin honestly. I had been on quite a few forums and it seems that gaf is actually way more accepting of the game than most other places. Just reading around was all I was doing though, not trying to spread hate just to hate.

Really,.....REally?, BLOOM? No Bleedtrough? Sprint?

And your anecdotal evidence about gaf been more accepting than other places is funny, all of my friends, all of them that stopped playing Halo since Reach because on how much they hated that game are back playing Halo 5, because it is very similar to classic Halo.

Anybody feel like this would be a good change to Warzone bosses?

http://teambeyond.net/forum/topic/5443-halo-5-guardians-discussion/?p=597543

Still gives the same outcome, fighting off enemies and rushing to kill it first but it's much more fair w/o all the frustrating RNG.

I prefer the idea somebody posted earlier of having the boss drop something that must then be picked up to grant points. Makes stealing harder, but still possible if the opponent is lax in securing the area around the boss.

I feel like that still leaves room for people swooping in at the last second with a ghost rush and grabbing it.

Also, first time messaging you since our Legendary run. W

Was so damn fun man.

The item may drop into an area where it can't be picked up, for instance the banshee bosses

I can't agree with that at all...

Halo 5 is like halo2 + mobility... The core stuff: even starts, map control, and power up/ power weapon control, is all back. Mobility has just added depth (pro jumping joins crouch jumping for example)

Halo reach was a monstrosity... And competitive matches needed to have all the crap cutout to work correctly...

That isn't he case here. Watching the pros play confirms this.

What's bad with that? Aegis stealing should be a legitimate tactic.

It's just not the nature of the mode IMO. It's a rush to base-to-base, shooting gallery mode.

That's too complicated for Warzone. Maybe a separate mode where that's the ONLY way to get points, but that's asking a lot, IMO.

I think people should be able to swoop in and steal your points... Secure the perimeter better if you want to avoid this.

Allowing people to steal legendary kills is what allows a team to comeback from a lopsided deficit. If a team has a massive lead, they'll have better weapons and be able to deliver more damage to the bosses... Which means they get an even bigger lead...

There needs to be a way for folks to claw back, even if they don't have a lot of req items available.

SUCH a great time! Brutally difficult, but so much damn fun.

As for the ghost rush, that's a positive, IMO. Killing the boss shouldn't guarantee you the points, and neither should doing majority damage. You need to be able to secure the area against cheeky upsets, but at the moment, that's basically impossible since the sightlines are so long.

Taking it back home would be a good twist too, since that could prevent one-man rushes. Mongoose rushes, though...

The item may drop into an area where it can't be picked up, for instance the banshee bosses

Yeah, that'd have to be worked on.

I get that you guys like the "secure" the area to deserve/earn the boss rewards, but it's not how it works 50% of the time.

Two out of 4 games last night we were CRUSHING the enemy team. We would sit there and completely own the boss area with 3-5 heavy vehicles yet still lose the points because they spawn and run all the way to it at the last minute, hide in a cave or an alcove and shoot a single sniper bullet.

It's in NO WAY realistic to believe theres a reliable and consistent defense for that. If there was it wouldn't be fun at all to handle.

Wait a minute.

There are custom weapons for use in Warzone?! Just got a scoped AR from a REQ pack. Must have missed any talk about this :|

This is going to be fun messing around with all the different types. :D

Also the DMR feels so good to use in this game.

The aiming sucks in this and the slide does nothing. Movement feels too slow. What is the point of all the movement abilities added if people can just strafe and AR you?

Yeah, there's plenty. Scoped AR wrecks house.

Best is the BR with the DMR scope, though.

So as someone who played halo 4 competitive and went to tournaments and all that sweaty stuff Im suprised how much I am loving warzone over arena. It just feels so damn exciting. I really think they are on to something for the longevity of the game and player base. Opening Req packs is so much fun. I got a legendary armor mod and it feels like you unlocked something only you have. Also upgraded vehicles is genius that armored ghost is a son of a bitch.

Anyone got any Armor Mod? I have opened so many Gold packs. Not a single Armor Mod. Seems rare?

They make a huge difference. AR is pretty crappy against high level players. You'll see guys boosting and sprinting a lot avoiding all kinds of fire.

^ It's a fuckin run n gun AR dash ground pound fest now

So your friends' opinions are better indicator?

No, how about say let's see the online population in a few months. I'm betting it's abysmal, and people like you will say buh buh buh halo's just not in anymore when really that's just an excuse. this game tries so hard to be like COD, what's the point when COD does COD better anyway.

And whoever posted above pointing at armour abilities in 4 and reach making it "not halo"? Fucking lol, in 5 everyones equipped with like 5 armour abilities. Haha.

To me it makes no sense to emphasize movement and make the movement speed slow. In Titanfall a good Parkour player can out run a mech and not die. In this if a decent player hits you first speed burst and sliding does nothing. Weaving like I did in Halo 1-3 and using the ground and pound to freeze mid air are the only 2 useful movement options.

I must be playing a different game than you guys because I barely ever see the AR used it's all pistol... and I love it.

Same with me. And when I do see somebody coming at me with an AR it's pretty easy to just thrust backwards and keep your distance from him and kill him with the pistol.

The only thing I don't really like about Warzone is that I feel insignificant a lot of the time. The battlefields are huge, and most activities require multiple people to complete. Taking a base solo is pretty hard, downing a boss solo is really hard, and making any sort of significant impact on the game is down to whether or not you have the right vehicles in your Req collection. There should be a squad system similar to Battlefield with spawning on teammates as an option.

That said, there is definitely fun to be had in Warzone: http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/Mr Noobcraft/video/12487351

And like I said in my previous post there'll be those who disagree with me--though I'm sure there'll be countless longtime halo fans who won't :) we'll just have to wait and see which remains the more popular opinion, in mine it's the worst.

Fan since the original when it released. This is the best Halo multi, better than 2 IMo. And warzone is awesome.

I haven't played a lot of this yet, but what I'm seeing is people just running with the pistol and weaving and using the pound to freeze midair. If the map has rocket then they go for it. Right stick aiming is just bad in this. Could be that I have the glitch, but right stick is unreliable for me and so most of my head shots come from strafing. The deadzone is too big also, especially for a game that depends on headshots as much as halo does.

Back dash isn't viable in FFA.

Maybe I should be playing team modes because the movement options aren't designed for FFA.

This is confusing as hell to me. Mainly because ground pound has proven time and time again to be a novelty move. I can't recall a single time I've been killed with it playing multiplayer and I've only tried doing it twice myself. It's honestly a good way to get yourself killed because if you miss you are left wind open for a few seconds.

Oh don't get me wrong i don't die often because of ground pound. I'm just referring to all the amor ability type moves that exist in mp now and it just seems like a chaotic mess especially coupled with crappy maps and unlimited sprint, clamber, spartan dash, useless radar (which wouldn't be so bad but again, theres a million ways to sneak /dash up on someone now) etc etc.

I can go 2KD+ easily, that's not the point. Of course players will get used to it. It's just not appealing to me anymore as a longtime halo fan and again its just my opinion. you can't please everyone, but i strongly believe they'll be pissing off a huge portion of their fanbase... and its not just the gameplay. stuff like omitting split screen and persistent lobbies (come on, do you really think this was a good idea?), and so on.

People aren't using the pound to kill. It is the best movement option. You can shoot while doing it with the right controller setup or if you have an elite controller.

I've played around 10 games of warzone and have only won once. I usually fall within the top half of scores so I know I'm not too terribly bad. Is this normal though? I mean, one out of ten is just annoying. I'm almost to the point where I'm just going to play arena.

Take into account when you have all these special abilities

sprint, dash and ground pound

I feel it's only taking the idea and skill away from shooting. Which is the main draw of halo for me among the other things I dislike.

Is there any way for random people to join co op games in progress? I tried doing the online co op last night but no one showed up for the mission

I actually use it often as well as successfully. It's great around corners when you know they're coming. Or when they're trying to cap a stronghold.

Might be a dumb question, but what improves Playlist ranking? I'm bronze in Breakout, what makes that increase? Wins?

Just winning increases your rank. Losing can decrease it.

Yeah, I was actually surprised squad spawning wasn't a thing, especially with the size of some of these maps.

I swear perma weapon unlocks for warzone are scripted, everyone seems to be unlocking the scoped AR first or at the beginning, the game is probably set to require months of gold packs to get the better perma gear :(

What game are you playing?, because seldom do I get shot by an AR. maybe your rank?

Population is not a good indicator, this is not the 2007 when Halo didnt had any rival in MP, now they have to compete with CoD, Batlefront and Destiny, this game is already been played more than GTA and Destiny, but using as evidence that this game is bad because more people are playing CoD is illogical.

And whoever posted above pointing at armour abilities in 4 and reach making it "not halo"? Fucking lol, in 5 everyones equipped with like 5 armour abilities. Haha.

But the armor abilities didn't have an impact in the game as it did in other Halo, if you think sprint have a real impact in the game, like it did with Halo Reach, then you didnt play Halo Reach that much or Halo 5, Halo 4 had a Sonar that showed you where the player was hiding, it had no descoping, and a 5 shot BR.

People need to just accept the fact that 343 is no going to make a Halo 3 with better graphic, Bungie understood this as well. Halo 5 is a darn good Halo game, that doesn't have the problems that plagued Halo Reach and Halo 4, those problem been gimick element that reduced greatly the speed of the game and made for high Kill times, things like Bloom, armor lock, sprint, etc.

I feel like either the game needs a speed up or certain aspects of the game need to be refined.

I think its a good game, but there are issues that need to be fixed.

So your friends' opinions are better indicator?

I mean I can get his idea. I know it isn't exactly the best way to show it (i agree) but

On halo 3 I had about 60 people that I had added just for playing Halo 3, when that went to reach that got cut in half and when that went to halo 4 and now 5 it may be around 5 or 6 of those guys that use to play halo every day and now they just don't play any shooters or they play something on pc or a few of them still try to stick to MCC or halo 3 on 360 when they do want to play which isn't very much

These guys would come back if halo came back, i do think a halo that is more like halo would have that long lasting appeal like 2 and 3 if they would just try it.

POINT blank- it has been a long time since halo was halo wthout some random idea thrown it. I am just saying, TRY to make a halo like halo and see how it goes. Won't hurt.

I promise you, people would be freaking out and rejoicing.

I think you are confusing the stabilizers that activate when aiming midair and the ground pound which removes any ability to shoot while it's charging both have you in the air with the thrusting going.. Or maybe I'm confused.
