Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

Don't worry. Both art and champ agrees that he sucks and feels incomplete. I would hope that people find some stuff, or Capcom buff him, but it's clear they are still scared as hell to make him too strong in that he seems incredibly weak as of now.
What tools do you think he needs the most? Are his attacks just too slow?

Oh I thought we were talking about new street fighter releases, my bad. But I think it will be harder to sell new characters as dlc unless they are characters that exist in another franchise ala poison.

I dunno. KI did a good job of adding new characters and making them fresh additions using the season DLC models. They could also make new characters cost less as an incentive (in either Fight Money or regular bucks). Not that it's likely, but it COULD happen.

It's a little strange to hear Dhalsim called "incomplete", when he has all sorts of amazing new stuff like flame carpets, arcing fireballs, floating, cancellable long reaching anti-air, air yoga flames...

His space control sounds amazing. And, how do you even anti-air him? Are there limits to that mid-air V-skill > teleport tech?

I feel like KI did this because KI doesn't have that many characters to begin with. If we are talking about characters just in SF franchise you have like 50+(some which are quite popular still ), and you can pull from side franchises like Rival Schools, Final Fight, etc.. And I think it's easier to get a character made in a timely manner if you already have an established moveset to go off of and overall design. For the new characters in SFV you had a longer development cycle to make them..

SSFIV, AE, USFIV all sold significantly less than SFIV. I can bet they would be better off making more money with releasing DLC characters one at a time. And I bet there development cycle for content would be pretty much the same as SFIV updates but will hold back content and trickle each characters 1 by 1. I reckon by June all of the 6 DLC characters will be done but they will release them slowly. By July they will probably work on next year's DLC characters.

I do think they will probably develop them in batches or some characters in parallel, and have a bit of a queue built up and trickle them out.

I agree on most of that but his flame carpet doesn't work like Dormammu's as it doesn't cause hit or blockstun, it just drains health like a poison effect. I think it's intended purpose is to use on opponent's wake up in the corner and keep them pinned down until Dhalsim can open them up, converting all the grey life from chipping normals and the V-Trigger into huge damage.

They made regular Yoga Fire his EX version. Also EX version of Yoga Flame goes up and down and launches when it hits IIRC.

Ah okay, that's what I though . Would have loved both arc and horizontal flames but that might have been too powerful.

I wonder if he's more rushdownish gameplay like necro or faust with his drills instead of just keep away.

Will be interesting to see how to 'properly' play him now.

Edit: from the trailer it looked like when Sim combod to flamecarpet, the up close hit caused hitstun from the opponent to continue the combo. It looked like from far away its grey health but point blank caused an actual hit.

I have a feeling we'll be seeing Story DLC maybe every year or two- similar to how in the past when the new version of that particular street fighter came out, we'd get new endings for everyone.

I can see them introducing new characters to go along with that "season" of story. It would be hard to imagine for the entire lifespan of Street Fighter V, the only new characters we got were Rashid, Laura, Necalli, and FAN/Zen.

Oro would have been so sick that's who I'd like to see for DLC. Loving the way Sim looks and some things about his playstyle not sure why people think he's lacking tools seems like he has good options when he has meter.

Considering the chatter about Dhalsim being the one true zoning character, where do people rank Juri as in the spectrum between rushdown and zoner? :o

edit: thumbs up to my fellow ingrid fans :D
To the few anti-ingrid folk though...

Alpha 3 endings are what if scenario for charlie, since he got shot down and was thrown off a cliff in A2. Yet, he miraculously appears in A3. SFV charlie should follow the A2 ending.
Yeah Alpha and Alpha 2 are the only possible true endings when you consider that Nash kills Bison in his ending of Alpha 3. We all know that didn't happen.

Why would they ever suggest Guile would leave a man behind and save his own skin is beyond me. Unacceptable behavior.

Not necessarily. In Charlie's A3 story he's going by himself against Bison, and is considered missing by the army already, which works as a follow up for Alpha 2 ending and that backstory is also referenced in Guile's own SFA3 story. Surviving a cliff fall isn't really that odd in fiction.

Although Alpha 3's endings were often non-canon, with Bison being killed in many crazy ways, the backstories generally are canon.

He was shot by a chopper and thrown off a cliff and the round one udon movie also depicts the same.
