Fallout 4 has gone gold; leaked gameplay vids

I honestly have to wonder what kind of mods we can expect to make it to consoles. Most of the mods I've installed for FO3/NV were usually HUD updates, alternate Pipboys and some graphic updates and I'm pretty certain none of those things will be allowed.

The hope would be that additional Quests could come from it.

Anything for console will have to get vetted by Bethesda. I can't see a deal for this type of UGC coming onto a console without a condition that there is a level of curating that goes on. I have my doubts that we'll see any graphical updates, and UI mods won't be easy to do unless the toolkit gives you access to handling controller interactions, etc.

Ah yes, in regards of the toolkit, is bethesda providing it to develop mods?

Edit:
Lol stupid question they did it with skyrim

I wonder if Bethesda will pass along mods that fix bugs and broken quests, or if consoles will have to wait for official fixes. Probably the latter.

as for console mods. personally i have no idea how we'd be able to install them? on PC you can make stuff because all the files are accessible. the only thing you can really access on consoles are the save files.

maybe there's something that can extract game files to a PC but i think that mods will need to be created on the console. maybe like an editor mode to create new areas or quests and then when you're done you can publish them to be downloaded. even if they do allow you to extract files to a PC then it will still require this editor mode and what you can extract will be restricted. I'm not sure how it'll go with sony/microsoft because they need to know that it's not gonna crash/brick the system or anything.

definitely no nudity/graphic mods. just simple things like new areas/quests/characters. whatever you can create will be completely restricted by Bethesda. perhaps even pre create mods. by that i mean for example changing the HUD or something. bethesda will create several options you can use.

on PC you'll be able to mod in anything you want.

I recon it will work similar to how unreal tournament 3worked on ps3. Modders had to pack their file specifically for the console version and then provide that file through either a link in the browser or on a flash drive (not sure about the flash drive) but then it was simply a matter of clicking the link to download the file on your ps3's Web browser and it would download correctly.

Which means, yes nude mods will be available.

I highly doubt it's going to be that free in FO4

Slightly off topic but I am wondering if anybody has any recommendations for movies currently on Netflix that have post apocalyptic theme? Need some good "mood movies" while waiting for this to hit.

Children of Men
Any Mad Max except 3
The Road
The Book of Eli (not great, but decent)

I don't have Netflix, so I don't know what's on there or not.

I assume a menu option will be patched in linking to a curated download front, along the lines of something like the Trials series or any console game with custom maps or levels.

Those are all great choices, I have The Road and The Book of Eli on bluray and will definitely be watching those. I may need to download Children of Men and The Road Warrior as neither are on Netflix and I have been wanting to check those out.

I just started Hardware which seems to have a fallout type vibe to it. It's 80's all the way but pretty good world they have created in it.

Mods are only going to be installed through Bethesda's curated service on console. A bunch of stuff is going to be rejected or disallowed.

Of course, you could always watch I am Legend for some "man and his dog" post-apocalyptic action.

OOH! Good call! Hardware is turning into 80's skinemax soft core power glove cheesiness. BUUUUUUUUUT it's still awesome. Lol.

Another good idea! I almost watched that once before and got sidetracked. On the list!

EDIT: Scrolling through Netflix I stumbled across These Final Hours which is about an impending apocalypse and trying to find peace and safety in the chaos. It's Australian I believe and really good. There was another Australian movie I watched recently about a guy whose car (including all his worldly possessions) gets stole and he goes after the guys who took it. Can't remember the name but it also was really good.

Hey at least the screenshot thread isn't filled with "preorder canceled posts". Silver lining, right?

The people complaining the loudest would have had to actually pre-ordered in the first place. I think that list is sitting somewhere in the sub 1% range. ;)

alright here it is. Not sure if new or not:

Not spoilerly I don't think so I'll just direct post it.

I sure the open world is more dynamic in Fallout 4. Fallout 3 had too many scriptet events that triggered when you got close enough.

Decided to see if the screenshot thread had turned into a civilised discussion yet.

I was wrong.

I think a civilized discussion takes two civilized sides.

"Hey look, there are hardly any shadows"
"Yeah, that seems to be the case"

And that has been in the thread, just surrounded by "It's a Bethesda game, the graphics don't matter" and "This screenshot gave me eye-cancer" comments, which are both ridiculous comments.

I'm thinking about getting this digitally on PSN but my internet is slow. Can someone tell me how big the game is and when preload starts?
