It's a shame that many of my friends just haven't played New Vegas because it had 'AddOn, Cashgrab' feeling and most of them hated the cowboy setting.

New Vegas is superior to everything in Fallout 3 but the beginning.

Also thought the world in Fallout 3 was much more interesting to explore with lots of varied places to see. New Vegas was so dead and lifeless with exception to the strip itself. It did feel like a total expansion to me.

I dunno, man...NV's opening is way fucking cooler than 3's intro. "Truth is...the game was rigged from the start." BANG! TITLE CARD!

EDIT: I do wish NV's map was more open. Always having to take a specific route to Vegas at low levels because of cazadores/deathclaws is annoying on the fourth playthrough or so.

FNV is the better game, FO3 is the better world.

The only thing that bothers me, is that I won't know for sure what my character will say in a conversation, because the dialogue description is so short.

I might end up with saving just before conversation and reload the game in case my character says something I didn't want.

God, I hope there will be a mod that fixes this and I hope it will be available just after release.

I mean you don't HAVE to. There are ways to get around it. There's a path that takes you to the mountain where the supermutants are. Avoid a couple of falling boulders and you're home free at any level.

As someone in the Fallout 3 camp, I can dig this.

They're both great.

·He's frustrated a bit with the dialog system, as many times what the prompt says and what the character actually says are very different (I remember the ME series having this same problem).
·You can only ask one thing to each npc, so no more asking about the war, the settlement, other characters, etc
·When a npc asks you something, most of the time two of the four options are "no" and "not now", which give the same result.
·He feels that having a voiced pc is more trouble than it's worth for the game.
·Perk for LUCK 5 is:
Wise idiot - Get triple XP at random for any action. The lower your INT is, the higher the chance of this happening.

I'm out. I was skeptical about this game ever since they confirmed the removal of skills but all these negative points sealed the deal for me. That perk especially is counter-intuitive to the essence of RPG design. Why bother putting any points into intelligence if you can stay at 1 and get the same benefit? Why even bother deciding a SPECIAL layout if you can just max it out with infinite level ups? It feels Bethesda wants all the players to do all the things and, while that may be appealing for some, I don't like it.

Sorry if I come off as a bit sour but this game reeks of all the worst parts of Skyrim and then some. Pass.

Just saw the live action Fallout 4 commercial during the Giants - Saints game. Today's game brought to you by Fallout 4.

Didn't know the XBone was coming bundle with it.

Edit: My taughts on the dialog options. There's still alot we don't know. I'm not going to take some Spanish dude and 4 charisma girl as fact. It makes sense not to waste voice dialog on pee on NPC'S and save the more in depth stuff for NPC'S that matter.

So I think we should just wait and see before jumping to conclusion.

Edit 2: in the real world everyone does not know everything and a good portion of people just don't care about current events. Maybe Bethesda is trying to go for that and just didn't want to spend the extra cash on a pee on NPC telling you they don't care.

Don't really care about Hardcore mode missing. It was only somewhat interesting to me in NV.

The Basic Needs aspect though was a joke. Bullets having weight, reducing what items can heal limbs, Stimpacks healing over time(which is in FO4) were good additions. But having to Eat/Sleep/Drink regularly were pointless as the game was not balanced around it. The systems themselves were rather shallow, but the fact that gaining caps and finding all the resources you need to survive were always in abundance made for an annoying system that really didn't matter or add anything to the game.

The reports on dialogue are definitely troubling. I was hoping Bethesda would get their shit together on that front, but it doesn't seem like they have. Very bizarre design choices from what we've been told. Hopefully it's not as big a deal, and from what they're saying the game still is very good. I'll know for myself come Monday morning.

I started hardcore specifically for the eating and drinking and sleeping. Because I just liked that it enforced what I already did in the game that increases immersion for me. It's even more immserive when the game itself enforces it (plus it doesn't let me forget).

I think since there is no hardcore mode I'm going to try to play with my usual rules (no fast travel, eat twice a day, sleep once a day for at least 6 hours/preferably 7-8) but add in a limited amount of each type ammo I can carry and maybe also stimpacks I can have. No naps to cheat on healing back to full (too bad sleeping anywhere will heal me).

1. Well you either need to be really intelliigent or really lucky. This means some one can play a lucky idiot instead. I'm not fussed by this (and if you've seen my posts today it's not like I am defending everything they do).

2. You can't level everything up at once. And you can't just keep withholding on doing anything in the game if you want to level up. There are going to be things you will have to sacrifice not being able to have the right perk to do how you want because you just didn't get the perk in time. Not having a level cap is not a huge deal. It just means when you are through with the game you can try to max out if you still want to mess around.

3. It does reek of Skyrim. Sad but at the same time I still enjoyed Skyrim even if I agreed with people how it could have been much better. I'm afraid it may not be a great RPG and that is upsetting but that doesn't mean it won't be a fun game. Even if I am saddened by the direction they are taking it. There is stuff that sounds really fun about it still. Crafting sounds so much better for one in many regards (though has he said if you can craft healing supplies and stuff like that?). And shooting does sound like fun (then again, I had fun with New Vegas shooting. I'd prefer they make it a better RPG at sacrifice of the shooting than vice versa but it is what it is). Though to be fair I wasn't invested in Elder Scrolls when I played Skyrim, it was my first ES. I am invested in Fallout. We'll see if I'm so laid back about changes I don't like this time through when I already experienced what I do like.

If this is true, it would be a massive misstep for Bethesda. They should know better than to cheapen the deep experience that is Fallout.

Date on FO4's PipBoy is 10.23.2287. FO3 ends ~2277 and NV takes place in ~2281. This should open up some interesting reference and appearance possibilities for FO4.

Do we know the exact date FO4 takes place? Mabe we will meet ourselves from FO3? Harkness even.

Oh shit, so it's ten years after FO3? I thought Bethesda said the game was set at the time as FO3?

Spanish screenshots from the game show date in few pictures, it's 10.23.2287. Even saw someone calling Bethesda liers because it's not precisely something something years after Great War like Bethesda said in E3.

I also feel like FO3 has the better story (I hate the factions shit in NV and thought it ruined the story).

... Huh. That's a first.

I more or less agree with Trace's post. I wouldn't call FO3's world BETTER, just more fun to explore. NV's is still more interesting.

FNV is the better game, FO3 is the better world.

I agree actually. I think in FNV you don't get the feeling that the people are struggling, it doesn't feel much like a wasteland. I think FO3 gave a better feeling of the post apocalyptic world.
