Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

About to start leaving quitters bad feedback that way if enough people do it they get blacklisted/banned on live.

Good idea actually.

Yeah, if someone quits they need to be banned from queuing again for 30 minutes and if they do it again in the same day then an hour.

Something significantly more severe since people are still quiting just as much as they were in past Halo games, which is a fuck ton.

It's like if there is a -5 kill difference they will just quit. Like what the fuck. It affects my rank, theirs and everyone elses on our team. Had at least one per game today. Gone from Plat 6 to 4 over the course of the day.

Ranking is based on whether your team won or not. If it was based on kills or some other individual measure people wouldn't play to win, they'd play to boost their stats on whatever way measures an "individual" win.

Ranked FFA is there if you want to be judged only on individual performance (although there are still a few issues with that game type skill definitely shines through).

Ahhhh, thanks. I didn't realize that.

I LOVE playing with a team, so FFA isn't for me. I just want to be paired up with the best opponents and teammates. I got Silver in my first day of Arena (opposed to Platinum when I started Slayer a few days later) and I can't rank up no matter how hard I try.

It's just frustrating.

Well your in a Team playlist, so it's judging your effectiveness in a team... Your individual stats mean nothing if you aren't helping your team do better. It's like a wide receiver who catches a lot of passes, but won't run block.

I played a game earlier where it was 2v4, and I got 20 or so kills. I'm almost always the best player on the losing team. That's the frustration of the rank, it doesn't judge like you're saying, it's just apparently win/lose.

Quitting is getting annoying, especially since it seems to constantly happen at the very start of the matches.

Gameplay is still so good though.

K/D sitting at 3.3 right now for Slayer. Kind of surprising considering I've had some real stinkers, plus the initial aiming growing pains.

Seems like it takes a while to get out of a division though

Really felt...at one with my team in this match....

:lol

I still miss the more exuberant pre and post match things the teams would do.

Got gold 1 in slayer Thursday, and managed to get myself into platinum today.

Apart from some niggles, this is straight up the best multiplayer that I have played to date. So fucking awesome.

But they need to get the maps sorted in slayer, and an objective playlist. I would also like to see a social list that lets us choose where we matchmake ad well.

Played campaign coop first two missions today with two buddies. So much easier than solo - thought I read that enemies were supposed to scale up. So much fun though, worked perfectly. Killing your pals just after a checkpoint also never gets old ;)

Considering the game automatically moves you into another match after finishing one I wouldn't be surprised if some people haven't realized this and accidentally get matchmade into another game when they meant to stop playing. This has happened to me although I didn't quit.

I've noticed the same thing about often starting a match with someone having quit or quitting very soon after start.

what difficulty?

With Stinkles in here and all that, I'm curious. Did something go wrong or did priorities get sorted at some point that led 343 to know how (debatably) poor the plot was? Have they been blindsided by the reaction, or was it something that just sort of fell short and they knew it ahead of time but couldn't do much to improve it?

Curious if any 343 employee has commented on that criticism.

They sure listened to the Multiplayer criticism last time because that portion is on point.

Solo, Legendary:

I almost broke my controller in two in the first Warden fight. I brought an incendiary cannon with me, but not enough ammo to bring the Warden down. Constant stream of soldiers wearing you down and AI team mates made me crazy. Probably would've lost my shit if it weren't for an extra cannon on a floating platform.

Pro tips for the following Warden fights?
I'm also playing on solo Legendary and so far I've found some success by going ham on him right from the get go.

I still have no idea how I killed him (when he died it was really fast)

Starts at 3:07

I found the 2nd warden fight to be really easy because the map is much more open. I just let my AI teammates do all the work.

I think a certain someone is buttmad that they didn't get to come back for Halo 5's soundtrack (seriously look at his wall, hes been re-vomiting articles from years ago)

Neil, let it go man, 343 didn't bring you back for a reason.

So, the cat’s finally out the bag… I’m not scoring Halo 5 Guardians. I’ve known for a very long time and it’s been frustrating to not answer all the many fans asking if I’d be scoring the next instalment. My apologies to you all for my silence and my thanks for all your incredible support.

I won’t bullshit, I was disappointed when I heard, but that disappointment in no way diminishes my passion for the game and my respect and love for all the awesome peeps of 343. I have many fond memories of working on the greatest video game franchise in the history of video games, I consider it a true honour to have served.

Finally, I can think of no more worthy and honourable a man to take the helm than Kazuma Jinnouchi, he has my utmost respect, my friendship and my very best wishes.

I will never forget.

Neil.

You're making something out of nothing here. This is post from a week and a half ago. Seems like he's just proud of Halo 4, disappointed he couldn't do Halo 5 but is happy for his friend Kazuma and the people at 343. Maybe he was just down and reflecting on 3 years ago and his soundtrack wishing he could've done this one.

I recall you being very vocal about server selection after the beta. Is launch halo providing significantly better experience?

How about some cruel and unusual punishment for frequent quitters? Slap on a hideous armor that can't be changed until they complete a certain amount of games without quitting. Have " I'm a quitter" next to there name or above spartan. Have them play on Orion for 10 matches in a row.

Not sure if this was answered but I think I should be able to see what game type my friends are in before I decide to join them. I wanna play multilayer but I join a campaign mission instead...

I there a way, in game, to see what my friends are actually playing?

Thank you.

Just finished the campaign. Despite the tease of Blue Team I had a ball - encounters felt great and the story leaves things at the most exciting Halo has been in years.

Looking forward to seeing any Legendary content when I come back for another playthrough down the road. Congrats 343!

Fairly sure I'm addicted to Req packs like I was addicted to ME3's chests. I love opening up those packs to see what goodies await me. Helps that I play a lot of Warzone where I get to use all the items I get.

Nice work 343, great feeling MP with an addictive loot game. You sly devils.

I can't get over how good this MP is. Granted, I've not played as much as others (having a family, career, and higher priority hobby cuts into that) but this IMO is the best MP for halo ever. I feel compelled to play it, especially breakout and warzone. These modes are absolutely fantastic and I don't feel cheated (unless we are getting steamrolled with vehicles in warzone). Weapons, starts, maps all feel and play fantastic. One minor gripe is blue team is sometimes hard to spot on breakout maps. And power ups and some power weapons shouldn't be in breakout. But none of it is game breaking.

So whats everyone having the most fun with Warzone or Arena? I only got to play a few Warzone matches and enjoyed it.

Some thoughts though on MP:

  • Visuals are a bit inconsistent on that beach map.
  • Animations from afar look funny, is this something to do with animations rendering at a lower FPS? Just sort of a distraction.
  • Movement/Gunplay is solid.
  • Req pack system seems to be addictive.
  • Matching making is fast, servers seem to be good.
Looking forward to checking out Area, do customization items from Req packs work in Arena?

I find both equally fun. But warzone I dont like playing solo, I only play that with my party. and yes cosmetic customization will carry over to Arena.

Does that even include skins for non-starting weapons? If I pick up a BR/DMR/SMG will it have my custom skin on it?

Up to level 9 in campaign. Can't believe they didn't listen to feedback and made the story even more reliant on Halo fiction. Who made this call? They also completely shit on Halo 4's plot by bringing back Cortana in a completely convenient and trite way.

Also, the confrontation between Locke and Chief mid-game is so poorly edited/directed that it pretty much kills the entire scene. I don't care how intricate your choreography is, if you don't know how to edit it, it looks and feels like garbage.

All the cinematics feel compromised and the terrible, terrible, terrible, technique of fading to black just reeks of a director who doesn't know what to do with what he's been handed.

The campaign's plot is the hands down the worst in the franchise.

343 has fixed the mechanics of the game and it plays great. They're turning the fiction of the world into white noise that no one is going to care about, though.

A disappointment so far. =(

We'll never get an answer to this, mainly because it's such a loaded question.

I have to wonder why Buck is in this game? Why is he on your team? He serves no purpose at all. Just a waste.

There are so many weird, poorly made decisions in this game's story.

Yeah, I'm not sure how you're reading him as mad. Sounds like he really genuinely likes/respects Halo.

I read that when he released that on FB but I still see otherwise, he may not be vocally mad about not getting his time in the sun with Halo 5 but hes definitely showing his passive aggressiveness on his FB feed with the re-emergence of old articles praising Halo 4's soundtrack with Neils name attached plus updating his cover photo to Halo 4's soundtrack cover.

Either that or hes badly trying to promote the Halo 4 soundtrack again and its coming off all wrong.

I couldn't disagree more. If you're coming strictly from 4, the only real detail not talked about is the fireteams. The entire story in 5 is self contained with nods to events from the expanded universe for those of us who do enjoy the books and comics.

Great spoilers by the way.

insane

These are the dudes paying for more maps, and hopefully more overall content down the line. I'm all for this.
