Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Anyone else having issues aiming with the right analog with and without the smart scope (or whatever its called)? I cant seem to find a sensitivity I like. I tried from 3 to 10 :/ It could be I am having issues adjusting coming over from Destiny on PS4 or I need to spend more time with Halo 5. The aiming keeps screwing me up when it matters..

Stealing warden kills is so rewarding though. :)

It leads to some funny reversals but ya it hurts having your entire team there and a troll grenade gets the kill lol.

I also hate how I barely ever get credited with assists even though I unload all my ammo onto the bosses, it really kills your score and position and sometimes makes me look useless even though I've been fighting the whole time =S

This is what I am attributing it to:

It's a weird curve they added to aiming, and there's also a slowdown when aiming diagonally. It's making things much harder to get used to and can be really frustrating =(

Agreed I died so many times cause I can't get a "feel" for the aiming :/ I like the MP so far but the aiming is killing the overall experiences for me as of now :(

Thank you 343i. Thanks to you, I know that in the future, highly advanced military armor will be able to handle any manner of bullets and heat, but a less than one inch variation in terrain is just too much.

I feel like there's too much fiddly geometry in general. Sometimes I feel like I need a fucking rearview mirror. Even when I'm reasonably sure I have clearance around me, I end up running into something while I strafe or back up. This has been an increasing problem ever since Halo 2 or 3.

Yep, there's a whole bunch of unnecessary 'furniture' in the environment.

Screams of insecure artists that put their pretty designs ahead of gameplay functionality.

Cause lord knows your goddamn rock or pipe is so damn important.

I played Halo 5 in MP yesterday the first time. It was even my first multiplayer Halo match at all and my first 1st person shooter MP match after MW1 some years ago. Never played the older Halo titles outside of single player.

After reading about the skill curve and the community, I thought I will get destroyed, which was true for the first deathmatch Arena game but the subsequent games went way better. Was placed 3rd, 2nd, 2nd and again 3rd in a row with being on the lead many times.
Am I surprisingly good at the game or did the Matchmaking help here? Does everyone have that aiming aid (and soft lock on on target)?

Some additional questions:
- in Arena mode, I can only use the cosmetic req cards, right?
- can I enable a hud element that shows the req points gained within a match?
- is there any indication how good I am globally? Something like a leaderboard? (when the Matchmaking helps putting me together with people on my skill-level, are there any tiers or something?)

1. yes

EDIT: argh sorry for the double post. I meant well >,<

Oh man, this soo much! I have this same problem with most FPS games. Nothing worse than trying to get to cover only to get killed because you back pedaled into some random environment clutter.

REQ system is so fucking broken. They need to give more to you more frequently. I'm level 18 and have yet to see a single Sniper Rifle, Spartan Laser, Tank, Plasma Caster, DMR, Boltshot, Incineration Cannon, Lightrifle, Turret, Stormrifle, DMR, Mantis, or Phaeton. I've also only ever gotten one Banshee and one Wraith. This shit is unacceptable. We as a community need to speak up about this. MS fixed FM5, maybe they will be willing to fix this. I've put 10 hours into Warzone FFS and spent $15 on REQ packs, when the fuck do I get the good stuff?

I just got my wraith and banshee certifications today, along with the upgraded armor tank certification. Up unto today I hadn't seen a single banshee or wraith. And I'm still barren on DMRs... Haven't seen any yet aside from picking up ones dropped by others on the battlefield.

RNG is RNG haha. I guess I'm just so used to Destiny's loot meta that the REQ system doesn't bother me.

I don't see how this is a problem with "random environment clutter." It doesn't matter if you're playing Halo 5, Splatoon, Counter Strike or Gears of War know where your opponent is, know the environments around you and the basic advantages or disadvantages you have as you proceed into that 1v1, 1v2 etc.

If that "random environment clutter" happens to be a rock, get to know that rock, where its at and see what you did wrong and if you can use it to your advantage the next time.

This is basic Sun Tzu "Art of War" shit that should be applied to any shooter.

Frankie,

Every single person involved with the decision that boss kills in Warzone should be decided by the final shot, is a moron.

Every single one. Anybody who had sign off authority. Anybody who QA'ed it for a single day.

I wouldn't trust them to water a plant, let alone balance a multifaceted multiplayer mode.
They way I see it, because of the final hit kill, a good percentage of your team in the boss area should be looking to eliminate the enemy spartans shooting at the boss rather than focusing solely on the boss. Securing the boss kill requires its own tactics - more than just shooting it.

10/10. Learn the map. Master the map.

Finally started my Legendary run. Got halfway through Blue Team and quit for the night. So far it was smooth sailing. Got downed a few times on the first mission but only one full death. Not even a single friendly AI has gotten downed in Blue Team so far, but I'm right before the first Hunters so I'm sure that will change lol. And I'm definitely not looking forward to any Warden fights. Although when I played on Normal I accidentally cheesed the
triple Warden fight. Just stood on an ammo crate with the Scattershot and wrecked two of them back to back.
Hopefully that works again lol.

The payoffs are stingy as hell. It looks generous at first, but it's really just a Whole lot of the same cards mixed with very few actual progression cards.

Thankfully I got a DMR pretty quick, but that's about it so far after spending a good 70,000 or so req points.

I'm really not seeing how the microtransactions did not impact the progression curve.

Yup. If it's a fiercely contested boss fight with two evenly matched groups going at it, it's going to basically be random no matter how you handle the points, unless you ONLY base it on damage given. And if one or two members on the enemy team "steals the kill" with a few lucky potshots, well, your team should have been able to shut them down. It's half boss fight, half map control.

I'd be cool with some points being awarded based on damage given, but giving at least a sizeable chunk to the kill getter just makes the most sense, and it forces more advanced strategies.

I really don't see why.

It's not map control, not on these wide open maps full of nooks and massive distances. You can't even properly "control" the approach to most of the boss locations simply because of the way that health works in Halo: A far-off opponent from the opposite team can have a very easy time only taking potshots at the right time at the boss and retreat if it gets heated.

Agreed. It's unreasonable with the amount of openings in the maps to really contest the entire team from having an open sight on the boss, which is before you factor in them spawning with lord knows what weapon, like a beam rifle to get a few snipes in when the hp is below 10%.

Question about the boosts, for how long do they stay anyway? I tag one in the pregame lobby but it stays there after every game.

Also, I am getting the feeling that I should just spam silver packs until I get all the basic stuff out of the way before I open my premiums and gold packs. Everytime I open a gold pack I am swimming in Needlers and Mongeese.

What's broken about it. It's random...

Have you unlocked a bunch of Loadout weapons at least?

silver and bronze until you have all the unlocks and then gold. it's the way to go

mongeese are just so good tho, need nerf.

Outside of potentially the Warden's primary spawn on Raid on Apex 7, most of the major bosses (and especially the sub-bosses) have pretty limited sight-lines at a distance. Even enemies like Baron 'Sroam are only really accessible from a relatively small slice of the map, and when you have 12 teammates it's far from impossible to lock the area down pretty tightly. And even with the occasional far-off enemy taking solo pot-shots, they aren't doing much damage, so it should be easy to trace the shots and counter.

I've never lost a boss to an enemy team that couldn't have been taken with a couple more teammates and better (and completely plausible) map control. It's always been a few (or a lot of) enemy teammates up close putting in significant damage themselves.

BS.

I back into a wall or whatever, I'll take the blame.

I get caught on a rock the size of my foot, it's unnecessary geometry.

Don't narrow my FOV down to that of race-horse with blinders on and then tell me it's my job to look at every damn 2 inch variation in terrain and take account of it.

Welcome to modern map design folks.

To ensure a map's geometry is predictable and consistent, designers are supposed to make sure there are no protrusions on walls or floors that could impede or alter the trajectory of a player or a grenade. It's a collaborative process with the art team though, and some things can fall through the cracks between iteration.

That is unless those obstructions are deliberate. Plaza is a bit egregious in this regard with all of the scenery objects. I'm surprised they didn't put a blanket collision mesh over some of them.

yes it matters cause 2 of the maps are the same maps and they are completely cluttered up with walls and walkways , it effects the line of sights which are really bad on most maps. just overall very disappointing maps all around. But 4 city like maps and only one of them decent isn't good.

maps are by far the worse in the series with halo 4 being right there with it. This game is honestly not halo, even though I do somewhat enjoy it. Would enjoy it being halo even more though.
