Tomba! 2: The Evil Swine Return (English Version) PSOne Classic Out This Week

It's not a lie, and not total BS. I won't get specific, but EU/NA are two different organizations with different rules, and the EU throws in the 50/60Hz issues, so just because it's out in the EU store doesn't mean there are no problems with the 60hz version on the US store.

I'd be grateful MPG didn't just give up and leave only the Japanese version on the store. They put up the band-aid and kept at resolving the issues until the English version could be released.

Sorry Vic but I still don't agree.
The EU version was updated to 60Hz back in late 2012.
Injecting a direct rom of the US Tomba 2 game into the PSP/Vita wrapper also works beautifully.

Of course the difference is I'M on the inside and know the reasons, and you're not. Just because you can do something externally doesn't mean it will pass internal emulation checks. You're in the dark on Sony internal checks and procedures, and they are different by region. The End. I'm not going to detail the issue, but it was related to emulation. And now that MPG has overcome the problem and the game's coming out, that's all that matters in the final analysis.

Finally!!!! Love Tomba but not got a chance to play 2 and was sad when they put up the JP version on psn as I don't know japanese. Thanks Sony and rip Whoopeecamp

Glad to hear this. My cousin was the one with the PlayStation, but he didn't have a memory card, so I'd go over to his house and play this through to the point where you start capturing pig wizards in bags over and over again because I always had to leave before I could get any further.

Thankfully yes, all that matters is that more people can finally enjoy it locally.
But if the EU version was 60Hz and in English, why not release that over the Japnese version?

I still say never telling anyone the release was going to be Japanese was bad form.

I believe there were licensing issues preventing the EU version from coming to the U.S. So they settled with the Japanese version instead.

I wonder what the active playerbase is on non-PS4 Sony consoles that they've been getting a lot of highly requested cult classics(like this and Legends) while seemingly most the playerbase has moved onto PS4 or away from Vita in general.

Considering that there's more than 80M PS3s out there, I'd say the userbase is more than enough for them to give a shit.

Awesome. I sold my physical copy a long time ago and have deeply regretted it since. Finally get to have it back.

Thanks Vic.

Also, myself from the past wants to thank you for the Lunar Silver Star Story Complete. :)

Nice. Didn't expect that to ever be remedied after coming out how it did. Will buy when the store updates.

Man, I'd buy a majority of those. Would especially love the PSP version of BoF3 for the Vita.

Great news about Tomba! 2 though, will pick it up when I get the chance.

I am really hoping for more of these games. There are so many PS Classics, so the high-profile omissions are more noticeable.

Vic was just here: I wish he would drop ambiguous teases about the possibility of Lunar 2 in the near future.

I have the PSP version that I would happily play, but people seem to prefer the PS1 version, and I don't want to play the "wrong one" of the PS1 version might become available next year.

Do you hear me, Mr. Ireland?

I hear you. Wait for the PS1 version. It's a better experience.

It's a bizarre shame that most of these games aren't classics yet, especially the Lunar games. That why I want classics on PS4 so badly. It might get the wheels turning so these can get released.

Serious question: why keep releasing these PSone games if they're only payable on a last generation console & handhelds that aren't that widespread?

Unless there's a major bomb that'll be dropped at PSX to keep these legacy games going properly. Do it, Sony.

People who want to be able to play old games would really rather not have their ability to FINALLY get something get stopped up just because PS4-only owners aren't being served too.

Plus IIRC Sony kind of did say PS1/2 support was on the way, and given PSP to Vita it'd likely mean getting PS1 and PS2 games already playable on PS3 able to be played on PS4 as well, barring licensing shenanigans (incidentally, similar to the PSP go's release I hope that'd make them wake up and get more of the games available to play on Vita, similar to how PSP go caused quite a few PSP titles to be digitally buyable.)

EDIT: But seriously think about it. This is an audience that probably IS more inclined to holding older systems, and even if not may have a Vita for that reason. Sales probably won't be TOO badly hurt by not having PS4 access.

I had no idea Tomba 1 was on PSN.

Great news, I really liked both games. I own them in disc form but these would be a great addition to my Vita. What are they, $6 each? Even $10 would be worth it imo.

Oh, I have a PS3 as well. I just hate that I have to hook it up in order to play some clasics. My all time favorite PSone game is only available on disc, which is even more of a pain, but I power through it with the hope that they make it all available for the PS4. I get it though. There are so many things that go into releasing these games digitally. I'm just being a selfish consumer.

Well I've always had the first game on disc. I also remember renting the 2nd game from Blockbuster and trying to get my money's worth by playing the hell out of that game. Had a great time playing it. And looking forward to playing it again.

Always wondered why this series fell off the face of the earth. The first was so good and did really creative things for a sidescroller. I haven't played the sequel yet but this reminded me I should get around to that soon.

I think you might be wildly overestimating how big this market is. There's no point in not releasing them (or fixing, in this case) just because they're not playable on a recently released console.

Finally they release it in English. Now they just need to bring over Einhander, SaGa Frontier 1, SaGa Frontier 2, Brave Fencer Musashi, Breath of Fire 3, Megaman Legends 2, and Lunar: Eternal Blue.

Fixed

This is missing a lot. Intelligent qube, Ape Escape, Tony Hawk 2, Neversoft Spiderman, Pa Rappa, Tenchu, mega man legends 2, etc.

I just looked at some screens and didn't know it looked that like that. I only played Tomba! 1 and honestly didn't know the second one was 3D. Now this is a definate must-get.
