Warzone REQ pack

Curious to try the Longshot AR.

Can someone please tell me how do you open these Warzone REQ packs? I bought the damn thing and got nothing!!

I went like 2-8 yesterday night. It was weird because most of the teams i played with almost knew we were all struggling from the beginning. Lol. I need to get good.

REQs are really unevenly distributed in Arena. I average about 900-1000 in the team arena playlist a match. But in breakout I only got 750 or so a match, when matches took much longer. Whereas in SWAT I get about 600 a match, and the matches take only 6 minutes or so.

Warzone assault is a good req income, I get around 1200 per match which is about 8 minutes on average, or it ends in the first 6 minute wave and I walk away with over 1k

Interesting. Is there a list of the rarity that drops?

Check Waypoint. If you go to the Requisitions page under your H5 service record, you can see every possible drop, sorted and filterable by rarity and whether you've unlocked them or not.

My AR collection, for example:

Very nice thank you.

Also 2 new free Warzone packs. Thanks Microsoft :D Didn't even have to purchase the thing :D

My two Warzone Premium Packs got me:

Speed Boost II Certification
Speed Boost III Certification
Pistol Skin
Assault Rifle Skin
Commando Helmet
Orbital Helmet
Random Ultra Rare Vehicle

And then a bunch of scrub life items.

Brings me to a total of 15 armors, 12 helmets. That's pretty cool. Although with the Recon helmet I doubt I'll be switching anytime soon.

I found this text on the last paragraph of the credits of Halo 5, go ahead and take a look:

Halo 5: E.L.I.T.E game confirmed on 2017? I'm talking about a game like Halo 3: ODST but with the engine of Halo 5 and taking place on the civil war of the planet of the Elites
I would really love to play a game like that, what do you guys think?

The more interesting part of your screenshot is how the words Great Journey are capitalized lol.

Ok, I just opened a load of REQ Packs I had collected somehow. One of them had a Scorpion with a grey border (permanent, right?), while another had a Scorpion with a white border. But now in my list the permanent one isn't there, what gives?

Will I be overwhelmed if I go into this online, if my last one were Halo 2?
If you do bad you'll be placed into a low tier rank and subsequent games should put you against other people near to your skill level. Just pick a playlist , play your 10 placement matches, and try it out.

.
On Installation 00, during the Halo 3 campaign, several terminals can be accessed, describing the activation of the Halo Array as the "Great Journey." Through such terminals on other Forerunner installations, the Covenant may have learned of the name and applied it to their religion in yet another case of misinterpretation.

The permanent one means you'll start getting scorpion cards in REQ packs.

EDIT: sorry about the double post.

Just try out Warzone, which has big open spaces and more teammates, to get a feel for it.

Yeah. I did this - although I had played Halo 4 campaign recently. Warzone is a nice way to wander around and check out your guns and REQs without harming your team!

I then went into Arena to rank - that was different!

Im a little disappointed the first weekend didnt have a social playlist.

Idk, with the inclusion of prominent microtransactions and the constant talk of "we have so much coming" maybe i got my hopes up, but i really expected the post launch support to hit the ground running.

That made me Lol...

I want the pistol skin so bad!! I knew I liked the pistol but when I checked waypoint, I realized just how much. Best weapon for accuracy and kills for me.

most kills I made with the pistol too. 130 kills and 107 with headshots.

It's just a very good universal weapon.

Btw - is there any chart that shows what earns you what amount of req points in a match? I guess medals give you also req points?

What maps in particular are you talking about? And how are they worse than maps compared to other Halo maps?

I understand being disappointed with maps but as the community progresses the bad maps will eventually be filtered out by community playing the game. It happens with every shooter.

For instance with Gears of War 1 it's still the same its been since the game came out in 2006.

Maps like Gridlock and Canals are still the favorites whereas no one plays Rooftops or Escalation. The Coalition even took those maps out of Esport matches for Gears: UE ranked matches recently.

You have Gridlock, Canals, Mansion etc. No one is playing Tyro Station seriously.

That paper towel is your scope.

The problem is there are honestly only 2, 3 maybe 4 maybes I would feel ok to play on. 2 maps that I actually want to play on.

For starters when you look at most halo maps they typically take place on one level or have decent choke points that force skill over just running away.

pit mostly all one level with some inclines and under cuts that barely make full 3 levels (other than the sword area which is still basically 2 levels

-guardian- again, mostly a two level map bottom and top with a few spots for 3 (s1, s2, s3 but with just one path it's hardly comparable to anything what h5 does

narrows- again two levels and a few paths with one route with 3

call_outs_narrows_b.jpg

crisp clean an puts emphasis on your nades and shooting, not random encounters...

high ground, a very flat semi L shaped level that has 2 or 3 level areas but again only one or two ways in these little areas and they are very easy to navigate

468px-Base_above.jpg

simple and well placed sight lines with places to back in and out of cover

standoff- again, a flat map with bases with just a couple of levels, they use hils and rocks to create cover and give a lot of sight lines all over the map

halo_3_map_standoff.jpg

Sight lines are very important for the gameplay that halo brings

Halo 5 has 4 city maps that have walls, ramps and up to 3 or 4 levels or 2 or 4 entrances and exits all connecting each one that quickly doubles and tripples in just a small area of the map. Then it also has walls and obstalces all between these places on these city maps that makes it even more of a headache.

Halo reach was broken in many ways but they still managed the halo feel for the most part with map design

Powerhouse - again, one level with other areas for 1 or 2 levels with small areas of cover and good sightlines

halo-reach-maps-powerhouse.jpg

reach_mpbeta_powerhousejp-660x371.jpg

I do think reach had much worse maps than halo 2 or 3 overall though, but they still kept the classic feel a lot closer than halo 4 or 5 has. And honestly the overall shooting and gameplay , movement just feels better in bungies work.

Even if we were to compare a similar style map from Halo 3 to 5, we would have this

Ghost Town

ghost-town.jpg

But as you can see the sight lines are not that bad here, it's still a very halo friendly map, whenever your in one of the rooms or stretches you can easily get into battles and get behind a wall if need be.

In Halo 5, it's just 3 times more cluttered than this in the same style of map and it breaks the game imo

For me and many others a good halo or competitive map provides open areas with limited cover to either go for the kill or back down

With a lot of Halo 5 or near half the maps it is about simply running into players a lot more randomly. In past halo's the maps are designed to have a decent idea of where players will be or will spawn and this creates it's own meet up positions based on this knowledge from both sides. Not that this can't be done in H5 but it is a lot harder to get to it in a lot of these maps. Especially sight lines.

I hope this will clear things up for those who don't understand us. the ones who don't like the clutter and tons of entry points, large or too small walled areas. Just feels wrong for a lot of halo fans.

It's not just about clutter, it's the overall shape and design of the maps, the paths and everything that goes into a decently made playing field.

Also, clamber annoys me, it creates some extra work to do something that should be simple

why clamber when the game can be designed to do this

halo-4-jumps-300x161.jpg

Also, Eden and Empire are basically the same map with a few changes as far as I can tell. Outside and many of the areas of the map seem exactly the same with just added ramps and changes in the center. Just super clutter though

Now we can take a look at some of the Halo 5 maps.

Empire- So many jump areas and walls, losing sightlines (clutter) no actual spaced areas for conflict that flow.

This goes on in 3 of the maps (with the rig being a little less heavy on the clutter) making it the best out of the 4 city maps. So, basically imo we only needed the rig to be in the game and needed other style maps to fill the other 3 maps. 2 flat based maps with bases and a lockout/guardian style map.

Fathom is the best map that fits the halo play style, has sightlines, has bases and has a 2 level set up. feels a lot better too

So, how about regret? too man entry points, too much clutter and walls and spacing end up being a huge problem, especially the sections on the outside away from the bases. Too many points.

Coliseum- well it's made for 4 v 4 but it's wise size and long runs seem to make it more of a fit for 6 v 6 , the bottom is also slightly a bit of a cluster and ends up losing a lot of it's sight lines. Not the worse map but still not great.

Then the last map Truth- it is one of the better maps to play but this is where clamber and the art style rear it's ugly head

a simple comparison for this (art style) and being clean and clear (hate the fog and light bloom) in H5

Heretic - even though I don't enjoy the map as much as other H3 maps, it is so much beter on the eyes.

H3_Heretic09.jpg

can actually see around the map without guessing

then

truth
Halo-5-Truth-Map.jpg

Truth be told I can''t see shit, what is the point of this?

May we please get visual options to take out fog and light bloom so we can just play the game. I can't see where to throw nades half the time.

Again, halo style gameplay is focused on focused encounters, tight gameplay and who is the better shooter and can get the upper hand. Not random encounters.

There are a huge list of issues in design here, and this is just breaking the ice. I did dislike the bloom and effects in H4 and when I saw the first video and screens of H5 it wasn't surprising to see the exact same issues pop up and continue. I just beg the art team and designers to give us a break here, hoping this will finally be known to 343 that it hurts gameplay and that they can make changes for halo 6 as halo 5 is already in the wrong direction too far to save it. I will appreciate it more than you know 343, thank you.

With Black Ops 3 and Battlefront hitting soon, I'm a bit worried this will get dropped just as quickly as Halo 4 did

Though 343 brought it upon themselves this time with this map/mode count.

i said in a previous post im kinda bummed they havent added content already, even though the game JUST released.

but i feel like if they want any kind of staying power the post launch support needs to be on. point.

So after struggling with the
Three Wardens
boss fight, and the skip method that someone else provided (I couldn't pull off the jump), I found my own way to skip them.

Spoiler alert:
https://youtu.be/C6iFPEjhLRs

I thought this was the skip method. Someone else did this the day after launch.

What's the other method?

I'm shocked people are paying that much for so little. That's almost half the price of the game! I would think it would take half the fun out of the game if you didn't earn the unlocks yourself...

It was included in the collector's edition of the game.

I think auto-Queuing after a match is a big part of the afk-ing and quitting early on in matches. Not the sole reason obviously as halo has always had plenty of quitting but I feel a lot of the time people end up in games that they didn't mean to be a part of...

I've had it happen once because I left the queue running on accident. I played it out but a lot of people won't.

This has definitely thrown me, because I got used to MCC one-game-and-then-repick matchmaking.

I wonder how many times Bungie has beeb typed in this thread. Lol.

I think this game is great. It needs some updates with map rotations and it really need BTB. But I'm not upset I spent $50 on it by no means.

I think it has the best gunplay of any console FPS. Looking forward to playing with some GAFers this week.
