Street Fighter V Roster Discussion |Thread 2| Deal with it & place your hope for DLC

Nadeshiko's existence in SFV is already "something different" and is interesting as is.

Thats cool you feel that you feel way. I don't feel that way, don't know if that was trying to change my mind. Its not.

I think it would be rad if they could switch out and had moveset variants. Also don't know why people are getting upset , especially when this game is going to have 20 shotokans in the future.

Even more funny is that he got blocked from getting into top 8 at evo2k10 by gamerbee using Adon

Yeah that's what I was making reference to.

now that's just dumb

If he's going to run his mouth I see no reason not to call him out on it or laugh at him when he eats his words. It's not like I'm being totally disrespectful to him. He's a great player and no one can deny that.

And Sentinel. He claimed Marvel was figured out a day after release, that it was garbage and everyone should pick Sentinel for free wins. Now Sentinel is a complimentary bag of metal scraps on point. The best athletes are rarely the best coaches, and the best players are rarely the best analyzers of fighting games. Playing and reflecting on a game's meta are extremely different skill sets.

To be fair Sentinel got needed pretty early but it was just HP. I think he would have fallen out of favor regardless though.

I think you're right though, Wong is an amazing player but that doesn't mean he's that good at analyzing stuff and considering how he seems to always be competiting in several games, I doubt he spends that much time in the lab innovating tech.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that though, you don't have to be on the cutting edge to be a great player.

Charlie is part of the Illuminati and is looking to kill Bison.

[...]

Mika, with Karin as her manager, is fighting.

Is there anything in game implicitly putting Nash with the Illuminati? I know it seems obvious and the comic put him there too but I'm wondering if it's definitely official.

Karin is Mika's Sponsor, rather than manager.

I won't lie, I really hope Retsu comes back though he might be too old at this point. He's the 1 SF character left that wasn't spun off into someone else or has ties to another character(Lee, who seems dead according to that Chun ending).

Also Eagle needs to be in a mainline game! Sodom would be my third pick for future dlc if I had to pick 3.

when's Guile tho.

this is hilarious

No, people want different things. Deal with that.

Also this series made final fight enemies, characters. If nadeshiko's a character, you'll live.

Basically the same to you. I would just rather fun character no matter where they are from. People want different things, i don't know what else to say to you .
You seem kind of upset. You said it yourself, people want different things. "Different" being the key word, here. She would be nothing but an R.Mika clone with a few different moves. A complete waste of time, money and roster space. Even if she was completely different from Mika, she's not an interesting enough looking character to warrant her own slot, imo.

While everyone here is voicing their opinions you're the one saying that people want different things, so why don't you look at your own words when conversing with others and "deal with that"?

i just find it odd that in street fighter of all things people are acting high and mighty over the concept of a clone character. Also, its only a waste of money to those don't want it, which is my point in this day and age of dlc, and how sf5 is going , it wont be a waste of money for you... you don't have to buy it. And all my suggestion was hypothetical, yet you are quick to tell me how something I want that you don't even have engage with is a waste of money.

You see how that's backwards?

Mika/Nadeshiko are linked because of the tag team thing. This isn't a Yun/Yang situation where you have an independent character. The ability to play as Nadeshiko w/ Mika as the partner is something people obviously want and Capcom would be silly not to offer it to players in either an update or as DLC.

That would be Ken.

TFW a Street Fighter IV face looks much better than a SFV one.

The only shoto I think is boring is ryu, because his attitude. Dan's fun, i'm not crying he doesn't come back. The thing about joke characters, is eventually the joke runs out. And then you just kind of have a character. And that's dan, just a bad character. yeah SNK ryu, but I mean, I don't care. The joke is long sense gone, for me at least. I don't hate dan or anything but he isn't anything special for me either. He's just sort of dan.
Dan has outgrown his joke origin and he's just a funny character now, kind of like Blanka, Fuerte or Mika. And he's the best one! Bring him back, please. Plus we deserve to see Dan in 3D, without his super creepy SFIV face.

You know what if you feel that way, thats totally ok.

I just see an old snk reference.

" yeah... thats ryo, I would rather play as ryo "

I think SNK is overdue to make their own parody character... the time is right since the director of KOF 14 was the Battle Director on the SF4 games. Maybe a female called "D Cobra" that's just a really weak C. Viper knockoff.

Shingo, Momoko, Kensou, Yuri, Mr. karate, etc. SNK has a long history of making paraody characters. Difference is that they don't let their parody status get in the way of making their characters actual be good in the game.

Yeah, I think there's ways of conveying Dan's weakness with not actually making him garbage. I think he would work as a very meter-reliant character that has to do meter building taunts to give him access to great EX moves, offsetting his normally crappy specials.

Thank you thank you thank you for this!

It also looks like Bison's Psycho Inferno got buffed a bit. I saw Champ try to punish it on block and he failed with a c.LP. In the Beta 2 build, Karin could punish it with c.HK, so something might have changed there. Very happy, if so. Now the fire just needs to be huge again.

They also need to get rid of auto-correcting specials. That stuff was stupid in SFIV.

Well since the SNK parody isn't very relevant anymore maybe do a Tekken parody with Dan and essentially give him Electric Wind Godfist. All his moves are garbage unless you nail the timing for the "electric" version... and just come up with some BS story how training with Blanka made him learn stronger moves or whatever.

After watching all of the Fchamp videos, I feel really confident in saying that no one should put too much stock in what he says about Dhalsim at this point. Between his numerous judgment errors, poor reaction timing, misuse of buttons, and poor V-Skill usage, he's not in a position to judge the worth of the character. I'm not saying that Dhalsim is great, or that FChamp is bad, but his judgment is premature.

Just noticed Bison's cr.mk is now special cancelable
I noticed that, too.

I'm kinda disappointed the new characters don't have those nice recovery animation when their normals are blocked like the early characters (Ryu/Chun/Charlie). Back at the reveal the game was much slower and normals had much more weight to them but now we are back to sf4 speed so maybe that's why they aren't bothering with it anymore. Anyway it kinda inconsistent.

Is this true? I only really played Karin but I don't recall those blocked animations with her.

Pretty sure that's not right. I know Mika does on her s.mp and s.hp. Pretty sure Karin does on her s.hp.

Birdie does on his s.mp. It's just not for every attack, and wasn't even in the initial reveal.

Retsu was in an artwork a few years ago so he isnt completely forgotten. People seem to forget that the SF cast are superhuman, and dont need to age as a real life human would. Oro is over 100 and he would prob look better if he cared about appearance. Retsu is viable to return imo.

Considering that in SFIV, Yun, Yang, Makoto and Ibuki look the same as ever even though they should chronologically be children or very young teens, pretty much this. Character ages making sense are pretty low priority compared to making fans happy.

Haven't seen any on Rashid, Laura and Ken. And it definitely was in the reveal (the combofiend vs mike ross match on stage)

On every attack?

People freaked out about the recovery on one of the moves (Ryu's hk and c.hk, I think) because they thought it meant just defends or parries.

Haven't messed around with Rashid or Ken, and haven't seen enough Laura to know whether or not she has any.

Yeah that was odd... it was obviously promotional art for Ultra Street Fighter IV done by Shinkiro. I wonder if Retsu was originally planned to be in Ultra, but then scrapped when they could build Decapre using mostly recycled assets.

I believe Gief's fierce punch has it.

And, Birdie's crouch fierce punch has it.

They haven't forgotten. It's usually reserved for hard attacks that are particularly punishable on block.

So about the Nadeshiko being DLC thing... it is interesting that when I looked she does have her own separate character folder. However, Karin's butler (who funny enough might be named Sebastian) just has his model in Karin's CMN folder (don't mind the face, just a UE Viewer bug with SFV models)

9MwT5CV.jpg

There's no story mode illustration paths or anything to indicate Nadeshiko will be DLC in 2016... but just the nature of her folder, I'd say they're keeping that door open.

I played a mini set with Champ against his Sim, literally his second game ever with him (my friend played one game then ran to pools). Within that time he already decided he was an incomplete character that was awful and would be useless in the game. I tried saying that maybe it'll just take some time to re-adjust, but it was 90% "this character is ass!" and 10% "ooh, I found something, that's cool".

Give it time people.

Karin's Butler's name is Ishizaki, that looks like Shibazaki who is another one of her caretakers. Lili's Butler in Tekken is Sebastian.
