I think Microsoft have just muddied the waters. That old Halo experience has mostly disappeared, more or less another FPS experience has replaced much of the Halo DNA. I commend the new movements and such but even then, it's not alone in that respect and often it's one or another, not building on Halo pillars. I echo other comments about the story, they've lost most people and it's just not very interesting stand alone or in game play scenarios so I'm not surprised people aren't lining up for it any more. New Master Chief Halo,
. Try new things but do they really need to bait and switch, that only annoys people. Where is the trail blazing, that scale, awe, tightly focused, mysterious, uniquely Halo. When they showed Halo 5 for the first time, looks like COD, the story, god knows.
The game isn't bad, just like Halo 4 isn't bad but 343 aren't creating enough new exciting adventures and encounters tightly woven into simple stories, it's standard FPS template with a seasoning of Halo woven into a mess of lore but again, they do a lot right like the verticality, shooting and movement but the Halo DNA has been replaced. There is nothing wrong with a bigger Universe and more characters but throwing in the galactic sink of plots in Halo 4 and similar with Halo 5, should we care? Why can't we have separate games, a coherent plot that connects to other games, not so dependable on other games or media, a choice to enjoy more in perhaps different ways.
ohhh, not really
