So "it is the userbase" changed to "Halo is not relevant like in 2007 anymore"... lol excuses to low sales never ends.Is anyone claiming the series is as strong as it was back with Halo 3?
I'll be at the forefront of it, don't worry. Me and my 8 digital friends. It better chart well on NPD or we will definitely be getting more of this.
"Evidence".
I would prefer "Friends don't let Friends buy physical"
Is anyone claiming the series is as strong as it was back with Halo 3?
Is is only cause its Halo, or is "but teh digitals!" and "install base!" gonna be the default excuses from now on every time a game under-performs?
By the time WoM spreads CoD and BF will have come out...

What? I initially had the thought of digital outselling physical. I never stated any exact numbers, just said that very statement. It'd be ridiculous to think it was anything as huge as that number. I mentioned my friends as an example of a sales trend, not a statistic for Pete's sake. Stop twisting my words.
When Chobel quoted the EA financial report, which I hadn't seen before, that changed my views on the matter.
I know, and I've said that many, many times in this thread. Which led me onto me stating whether the numbers of a split being accurate in the first place. Imagine if 1 in 5 people game shared and bought from a foreign store. That's 20% of the numbers you're not accounting for. That doesn't sound too out there.

It's not 2007 anymore though, Halo was a lot bigger in terms of mind share for console shooters back then.
Is anyone surprised by these numbers? Gamers lost faith after Halo 4.
Good games are good games. If it is better than those games, people will come back. Plus they have a content drip feed set up for the next year where forge and brb and new maps and reqs will be released. They are doing what they can to keep people engaged and/or coming back.
I wouldn't say that out there, very high yeah. With how much people live on social media, it wouldn't surprise me a lot of people jumping on the bandwagon because the most important factor is involved, money. I know I've seen a lot of it on my social media, between friendsAre you serious?
That is very, very, very, VERY "out there".
If 20% of the market game-shared and bought from foreign stores, it would have been shut down ages ago.
And MCC. It's a shame because this Halo has some badass MP. Best since 2.
Honestly they could get another 1-2 million in sales easy if they would just due what they keep promising and put the game on PC to show their "unparalleled support for the platform."
They could help offset the series decline quite a bit and bring in a hell of a lot more revenue due to the digital sales
Closer to Halo 3 / Reach / 4 numbers.
It'll be interesting to see the numbers when Microsoft release them.
On one hand it's disappointing because it's the best Halo in years, on the other hand it's not surprising. There are quite a lot of variables at play. PS4 leading, 360 owners way more likely to switch to PS4 as the upgrade path, Halo 4 disappointment, Halo MCC online issues, Destiny/CoD/Star Wars being in play already and all having marketing with PS4.
So 150K + say another 20% digital, that puts it at 180K, which is a 10% attach rate in the UK? Say the 10% sticks in the US as well, meaning about 800K copies sold there? Another 160K digital so in UK and US you have 1.14 million, maybe another 200-300K from Germany/France/Canada...etc?
So ~1.5 million in opening week versus Halo 3's 3 million for opening day. It's bad but I don't think it's abysmal as some are saying, not considering the variables.
Why would anyone expect that? Halo3 was the most hyped halo of all time. halo4 had an 80million installed base...
Doing those types of numbers this go around would be a tall order...

Although, we could go back and forth about this, but we'll never ever know about this one.
These are not variables. The install base is already higher than xbox 1 and 360 and yet sold less copies on launch week than previous installations in the series. PS2 was stomping the original xbox and halo 2 sold better.
Because that was their expectation.
I'm not talking about the full sales number, just total digital sales. 1 in 5 digital sales. Really high, but since its money, I don't see it being that far fetched. We won't know for sure, but your claim has no basis on reality.
If the digital split is roughly 20%, your assumption essentially means that nearly EVERYONE that buys digital is game sharing and buying from different countries. It's absurd.
You know MS internal projections?
Well, yeah, obviously, that's at least part of the problem. I don't quite see why that's somehow a defence of it's massive decline in sales.
If anything that's worse than just backlash against 4 and MCC, surely? That's a sign of a serious underlying problem with both the Halo franchise and MS first party games as a whole.
For Halo 5? I have a pretty good idea what they wanted launch volume to look like yeah.
You mod verified with these types of claims?

Oh and lack of split-screen.

You mod verified with these types of claims? Throw the range out there that they were expecting.
Mods are always more than welcome to message me anytime they like. They are all good people.
I'll leave it at that.
Because that was their expectation.
It doesn't t take an insider to know Microsoft wanted Halo 5 to sell bigger than what they didYou mod verified with these types of claims? Throw the range out there that they were expecting.
Am I missing something? Reach outsold 3 in first week sales. Halo 4 put up pretty respectable numbers (336k).
So.. yes? I believe that most people expect Halo 5 to be upwards of 300k+ at the very least. Not 50% lower then past titles.
It'll be interesting to see the numbers when Microsoft release them.

Nah, throw the range out there. Edify us all. That is actually good info if you have it.
A bit of perspective...
Halo 4 and reach was dealing with significantly higher playerbases and halo 3 was when the brand was at it's absolute peak.
No. Why on Earth would I do that? If a mod wants to know more they can message me. Thats not something that should be public knowledge.
Your claiming you have inside information that MS expectations were halo 3/4 numbers for Halo 5?
Well then.
No. Why on Earth would I do that? If a mod wants to know more they can message me. Thats not something that should be public knowledge.
Lol, why wouldn't you?
Lol, why wouldn't you?
I'm still not sure I understand. Halo 3 might have been the peak sure. ODST outsold this game. Halo 5 only pulled 50k more then MCC did first week in the UK.
People expected Halo 5 to pull more numbers. This is a pretty massive drop off for the franchise.
ODST outsold this game.
Oh I dont know career safety first of all.
