The problem isn't the amount of halo games. There are franchises with far more installments that haven't seen fatigue like this. Look at COD, it's in the same genre and has far more entries and it sells much better than this. The problem is that the franchise has went from being one of the best in gaming to be run of the mill. Further it continues to erode the things that actually made it unique. In attempt to lure people back from COD, battlefield etc they have actually given gamers less of a reason to stick with the series. Then there are the real slap in the faces to the fans with things like removing split screen coop.
People tried to deny it for years but it was obvious watching the halo 4 playerbase. The game sold well but the playerbase died super fast compared to any of the previous games. Simple fact is it was a poor game, and after reach which was also a drop in quality fans have been turned away from the series. The fact that halo 5 is no better was just the nail in the coffin.
Halo 1,2 and 3 are up there with my all time favourite games. I however have no intentions of buying halo 5 at all and i'm done with the franchise.
