Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Since everyone else is doing it...

Halo 3 and Reach were lucky to maintain 2K people in their Objective playlists as well, lol.
2k people in a playlist is still very playable. Heck, black ops 2 on Wii U has 2k players across all modes and individual playlists with a count of 200-300 were still playable for me with only a minute or two wait to get put into a lobby.

Edit: but yeah if the player counts are that low they'd have to make it Social Objective and not ranked, and from the current playlist selections it seems like 343i wants to funnel everyone into ranked play. And ranking generally works better with fewer lists.

Dude, I'm lvl 27 and haven't seen a DMR yet.
It's still no broken. There's only a certain amount of things you can get from a pack, and there are a lot of things to unlock just starting out. Everything is probably weighted differently as well, with dmr not being weighted that highly.

Let me go make some coffee
Well that's two of us.

Also, I finally got good. Average of 20 kills a game, raised my kda from 1.4 to 2.4 in just two days.

I'm not shocked. The entirety of 343i's design philosophy seems to be built around random chance.

That's the only way it would work well. Look at Mass Effect 3 and Destiny. The system wouldn't last if they're going to give you ONI Hog, and Nornfang Sniper certs at set times. This keeps you playing. For every one person who gets upset, there are ten people who get addicted to the grind.

I don't think it's no reason.

I think it's either faulty time/asset management, laziness, or fear that tradition BTB and/or objective modes will prove more popular than their currently flawed/prototype Warzone mode.

I strongly doubt "fear" or Warzone has anything to do with it...

Sustaining player base at the expense of Warzone would be more desirable than losing players altogether because there isn't enough content to sustain interest...

I definately think it has to do with time management, but I can't really tell if it was 1) done to make the game feel like ithe game constantly growing, thus getting people to stick around or 2) because they ran out of time to get it in at launch.

I've never understood why Halo does this. This has been a thing going back at least to Halo 3. I'm speaking of vanilla versions, of course.

Halo has been weird about including maps in playlists sure, but halo 5 is especially weird... Why discriminate in slayer?

You're talking about vehicle variants and power weapon variants.

I'm talking about a base loadout weapon.

What it comes down to, at the core, is a contempt of the paying customer.

Jack the nipper what the hell are you even talking about.

On the same page we have walls of text complaining how Halo has become too different, and how Halo is too much the same and needs to change.

343 shouldn't listen to the fans because the fans haven't a fucking clue what they're talking about.

Except me of course. Give us a god damn server region selector and we don't have to read endless posts about connection issues. Titanfall has it. Gears UE has it. What reasons have we been given for it not being included?

I don't understand how stuff is unlocked. Is it all req packs?

Yeah. The more you play, the more points you get to unlock stuff. They've basically monetized customization in a sense, but if you play just like you did in Reach and Halo 4, you'll still unlock stuff, but it's randomized due to packs.

I bought my last Silver Pack for the day...the game lobby didn't wanna let me leave for once...

...2 more matches won't hurt I guess...for one last Silver...at 1:26am

I went from scrub to being occasionally ok in MP. I got a triple butt stomp kill in FFA, so I feel like I should never play again. Learning curve on aiming is brutal, also weird when you kill someone you won't always know unless you read the small print

I get the frustration as well, I still don't have DMR either. But the mode was made with Assault Rifle and Magnum in mind. It's why those are unlocked from the start. This is just the way games design is now. For the first little bit in Destiny, I was forced to play Crucible without any way to even have certain heavy weapons if I didn't find them, etc.

It's just a consequence of a randomized loot system, and the fact that people playing more will have better stuff. I'm finding that even if I suck, I'm able to at least pick up others guns when they die that are a higher level.

So I got myself banned. :(. I was pissed with an AFK person in breakout and killed him twice. The ban hammer struck me down. How long does this last?

I actually managed to play another game in Arena after receiving the ban and war zone seems to work just fine.

Most old halo fans don't enjoy it. i know a guy can come and say I loved h3 and I love H5, but these maps, sprint and clamber are not halo for most the hardcore fans.

We have said it a billion times but they really only have to take a hard look at h2/h3 and design new maps and some basic new ideas to the gameplay mix

I don't think warzone was needed

btb at 8v8 is good

With bigger maps, more vehicles at 12 v 12 for a warzone with the basic halo design would have also worked really well.

I think a map like avalanche from H3 could be tested to be a bit bigger and have more players added along with its original 8 v 8 setup as well. Love that map...

There are hundreds of issues and why should we list them out when 343 obviously doesn't care and just wants to make the game they want. well, they can do that if they want but it won't bring us back. I just play this game cause it's one that actaully works decent on my connection at least.

New maps with some class maps such as guardian, pit narrows would bring us back. Bring back sniper fights where your teams have one on each side and can get into quick snipe battles and camo balls. I mean, why make things such as camo to pick up and press a button, while these things make more sense and look better in design, they just break small little things that work great in a game world.

There is nothing wrong with taking the base gameplay of halo without sprint, no clamber. You can still make new ideas to the base gameplay. Just look at h2 to h3 with the changes in map design was enough, with new lift ideas.

Speaking of which, why the hell i have to step on lifts in h5 to go up, its things like this that are just bad design choices. You don't change thigs that are made to work better in gameplay. I know 343 wants to put their hand in the cookie jar and say they are unique, but sometimes that cookie jar needs old faithful. I have doubt bungie test lifts where you have to step on them to get them to work, but going into thier pulse array to shoot you was probably made to make the game better and flow better.

It is not 2007 anymore. That was almost 10 years ago. In that time we have had 9 CoD games. We have also seen numerous Battlefields, Destiny, TitanFall, and many others.

Like it or not, CoD has effectively set the standard and captured the FPS gaming imagination. It is a cornerstone and what other games need to measure up to for the general population. 343 can't chop their game off at the knees and not offer equivalent gameplay as the industry leader.

Warzone is there because it is effectively Titanfall meets Battlefield with a dash of Destiny. It is the sort of mode that traditionally CoD has not had.

You can clamber and boost because that is what Titanfall and CoD have. It is an expectation of control. Armour abilities were also an expectation set by numerous other games to that point and are still a mainstay of FPS design.

I bought that last Counter Strike they released on Xbox 360, played it for 5 minutes and shut it off. Not because the game was particularity bad but because it felt like a relic of 1999 and gameplay dates often very poorly.

343 needs to power forward, match the industry standard, and give people something new every time. They can't sit back and pump out Halo 2/3 year after year. It will just make the game more and more niche and they can't afford for their super expensive premier series to serve a small niche of people.

Sounds like you're stuck in the past :)

As other people have said we need more permanent playlists (CTF / objective type) and keep the "fun/weird" stuff for the weekend playlist (shotty snipers / action shack etc)

About REQs
I think 343 needs to increase the permanent items you get from gold/silver REQ pack from 2 to 3-4 or increase the amount of RP you get from each game. I mean there are so many items to unlock it takes ages.........

They should have given some free armors/helmets from default there are 175 different armors/helmets + all the other stuff (skins, visors, emblems lol) and they will add more in the future, so why not give 10-15 armors for "free" + few other stuff like weapon skins.
