Now that I have all the level requirements that I need for my build my preparations are finished.

Solo-Crit-BURST-Sniper

Black = Core Skills
Red = Optional Skills I can change out or swap depending what I need.

How does it play?
Extremely high damage peaks with the help of Rifleman (+200% damage and 30% Armor Penetration), Lone Wanderer (+25% Damage), Ninja (+350% damage) and Better Criticals (+250% damage) in combination with Critical Banker, that lets you crit at will.
It allows you to snipe enemies from away with a huge amount of damage, even without crit. Once they close in, you use VATS and make use of your stored crits to deal with them quickly. Shotgun as close range alternative weapon is feasible as well, since those benefit from Rifleman as well.
While defense is not as important, since you will rarely get hit, Lone Wanderer gives 30% Damage Reduction and increases carry weight. Combined with Medic (More efficent and faster stimpaks), Toughness (+Flat Defense) and Livegiver (+HP) you are practically immortal.
With Locksmith, Hacker, Armorer and Gun Nut you can craft everything relevant and will never face a closed door.

Other optional skills I consider:
- 10 CHARISMA for Speech checks.
--> Intimidation for fun
- Action By for increased VATS usage.
- Bloody Mess for even more pew pew damage (tho I dislike the actually gore effect).
- 10 Perception for better VATS targeting
--> Sniper for even better VATS targeting.
--> Penetrator so no one can hide, ever.
--> Concentrated Fire for more headshot damage.
- Aqua Body if water exploring is hugely present.
- Sneak for close quarter usage of Ninja

Has anyone else already figured out what they wanna do or any input on my build? :D

Played F3 first. Fallout 3 was the game that really got me into the series (I always wanted to get into it before but could never get far in 1. I should have just skipped 1 and went to 2 honestly). The whichever I played first I preferred only lasted a little bit before I realized that New Vegas was most definitely better. I can't even say where I changed my mind. I think it's when I learned followers actually had quests that you had to unlock... that in itself impressed me so much on how much better that was. And how aweosme it was that a lot more thought was put into the followers.

Plus I enjoyed the shooting better. More skill checks so non combat skills mattered more. Better dialogue, I could go on. Factions/reputation were awesome <- and I was annoyed with the idea at first. Crafting was a lot more extensive/fun. A lot of stuff I was skeptical at first but warmed up on (reputation, mods on weapons.

i guess i just put most of my preference in line with the world and the exploration, hard to argue with NV's positives, but the world rules the day for me, and in my experience i vastly preferred DC

/offtopic posts, sorry

looks good but I think if you put points in Charisma that late in the game you are going to miss many dialogue options early on.

F3 >>>>>>>> NV crew

played F3 first, and i think in the overwhelming majority of cases, whichever you played first, you prefer

i just loved washington DC so much more than the mojave

NV had a WAY better story, quests, and NPCs. But FO3 had a much better physically crafted world. I love them both for different reasons, though NV's story is a bit too unfocused in my mind. Its still way better than FO3's though. Oh, and NV had Iron Sights too.

That's how I roll in every Fallout tho: They better do as I say or I will shoot them in the eyes. lol

I don't know about that, I think it's more what you like regarding the series.

3 had a way better sense of atmosphere than NV and generally more visually interesting locations, combat was not as random when it came to damage dealt as, end game made you pretty overpowered, and after Broken Steel you could clean up side missions you didn't finish after the end of the story.

NV had a way better sense of place, send ups to the classics, and the writing in the main story was great while still allowing for tons of choices on the players part, combat was way more dependent on dice rolls, something I feel kind of mixed on, but I did like that you couldn't become a god at high levels, there was no playing after the end because the choices you make during the game can be so world changing that it kind of needs that sense of finality.

Basically, 3 is more for those who prefer Bethesdas approach to RPGs and NV is more for those who want a more modern version of the classics.

I'm doing 7436521 for the hardest difficulty. Focus on tankyness, melee, and having all the core perks.

Fo3 goes for the theme park rpg. It's flashy, and nice looking, but none of it makes any sense.

But FO3 had a much better physically crafted world.

I don't agree with this!

;P

I had to learn to love the world of F03, the backtracking because you can't get past whatever clump of buildings, the confusing subway tunnels, etc.

I love the world of New Vegas. It feels like a wasteland being so open, it feels like Wasteland even :) One of my favorite games ever.

Love walking to Primm. The gradual signs of a community. Love going up the hill to the NCR, all the while looking at the giant statues. Love arriving at Novac, the dinosaur statue and finding a cool trader inside.

There are a bunch of other areas I could gush about :)

Actually, if we had Fallout 1 and 2 to the NV side, I see where you're coming from.

It's kind of like FF7. Most people who consider it the best JRPG of all time, that was their first JRPG ever.

Yeah, something like that.

This is Fallout 3's map.

fallout47nxsv.png

From the left, the two locations I circled are Megaton

latest

and Rivet City

latest
.

So you can get a sense of what that scale looks like on the map.

Now, assuming map grid squares are the same size, this is Fallout 3's world overlaid atop Fallout 4's world -

or in other words, the playable space should be just about twice as large as Fallout 3's (or about 3 times as large as New Vegas), and quite a bit more densely packed.

Only two major cities of FO3 was a crime tbh.

Are you assuming there is a level cap at 50? Because I thought there was no level cap.
No but at that point I have all core perks already + some secondary perks + some optional perks. No need to plan THAT far ahead for some +5% bonus damage at level 51. :)

Haha. I didn't mean the size of GTAV's map.

This site claims it's 145K SF

Bottom right has estimates.

That site can't do math.

If each grid is 200 feet long and wide, then each grid is 40,000 sq ft, for a total of
27*27*40,000= 29,160,000 sq ft. Not 145,000 SF. 145,000 square feet is TINY. That's about 3.5 acres.

Even 29 million sf is not that impressive, that's basically 1 Sq Mile, 1 Sq Mile is about 27.8 million sf.

Gameplay stuff:

Viewing the Pipboy from the Power Armor is the way to go

o_O
Getting PA is that fast / early into game?

I still wonder on what they base that 200 feet, freeballing it?

Yes please. FO3 also had a fair amount of subterranean real estate, and with this being set in Boston you'd think the oldest subway tunnels in the country would be represented.

Any impressions out there?

Haven't read any detailed but I did hear brief comments from someone who played a final build (probably pre-day 1 patch) on PS4

They said performance is absolutely solid, didn't see a single drop in framerate even when playing around with grenades/explosives. So, there's that at least.

Just got it and am doing my first thing since beating the mission associated with getting it so I'll update you guys in a little

Got it, take your time buddy.

That sounds great.

How many point do I need to put into Charisma to pass the charisma check? How many were needed in the pass? If I had 6 points in charisma would that be enough to pass the charisma check?

Check can be anything between Charisma 1 and 10, but we don't know if any checks require maximum Charisma.

Just slapped down my order for the PS4 version. For being a prime member, Amazon took 10 bucks off the price, so it was $49.96- so even better! The hype is even more real now that I know it will be in my greedy little hands next week.

I think charisma just increases the ODDS that they are successful. You might be even able to pass all of them with Cha 1 - you just have to be lucky / save scum.
