Halo 5: Guardians |OT| The Trials of Osiris

Think I'm burnt out on arena slayer, until they start cycling the other maps the game shipped with...Never been so thirsty for new maps in a halo game before, and its only been a damn week!!
 
You'd get some diehard Halo fans, and lose tons of people who would ask 'why should I pay $60 for the same fucking game?!'

Ironically, this is how some other AAA franchises operate. Madden, FIFA, NBA 2K, CoD, AC.

Then you look at huge franchises like MGS and GTA who also maintain the same basic formula and show improvements via things like scale, as opposed to the "keeping up with the jones" at all costs formula.

You know, thinking back on the story, I feel like
Exuberant Witness should've been introduced way earlier on than she was. And I also hope that she sticks around for Halo 6, because doors.
 
So I know they want to stop numbering the Halos and all, but jesus I wish they would at least wait until Halo 7 is a thing.
 
Just happened again i might be done playing until it's fixed.

I can't rank up at all because of this shit and it's frustrating.

When you get disconnected from the server with 984 points in Warzone.... :D

That would be extremely painful and would grind my Spartan gears to no end!

I've only ever had one disconnect: loving the Azure servers for this, Aussie and NZ players pretty much all the time with no lag and great times (I'm in NZ).
 
The whole thing with how the characters behave at the end of Mission 5 makes no. damn. sense.


Why? Why are they running through the teleports? How do they know that running through a certain one will get them to a certain place? How do they know which ones to jump into to make their way "back" once everything starts breaking down? Why did no one from Team Osiris come after the MC during the MC-Locke fistfight, since a boosted jump could *clearly* reach them? Where was Blue Team during all that time, since they not only had access granted by the Warden, but also did not have to fight anyone to get there? How come they were just chilling at the teleports room by the time Osiris team arrived?

With thaaat said, the mission right after that was the best one so far!
 
I picked up 'The Answer' variant of the SAW from someone. I envy the person that has a certification for that gun, it's disgustingly good.

I have a certification for each of the Saw's. The Answer is a freaking monster.

I melted the Knight Strategos tonight with one clip and no reloads (we had the opposing team locked to their own base on ARC and I was the only one attacking bosses lol). The Answer is just plain nasty.
 
I have been playing the game for hours every day since release trying to unlock that damned Noble armor set (the Halo Reach styled armor). Still don't have it, but at least my chances are better now that I have 60 of 175 armor sets/helmets.

My friend gets the game yesterday, goes online, opens a gold REQ pack, and gets the Noble body armor immediately.

The worst feeling...

I can be in the middle of my team and all bullets and assassination target me. Bullets going around corner. This a bad server. Earlier tonight was great.

Next round is 4-2.

Naw, helmet is called vector. Kind of Eva like, but I think I like it more. Visor is called muse and this doesn't show it off properly. It's red/blue depending on angle.

Got white Walmart bundle for 349. Took back the extra controller (with receipt) and game and paid around $241 for mine because they discount the console cost. I asked during the return if it was cool and they said it was fine.

I've played Halo religiously since 1 and I think this is without a doubt the best since 2. How bout that fact Jack

From a multiplayer perspective, absolutely. The weapons all feel almost perfected especially the Magnum/Pistol. And Warzone is just goddamned amazing.

From a single player perspective not sure about if it tops Halo 3 for me. Still need to run through the campaign one or two more times but I still really liked the single player campaign.

You know me, my opinion is solely based off of multiplayer. Haven't touched single player but I would be surprised if it touched H3's.
 
Been trying to play multiplayer since the weekend on wifi. Horrendous lag and I was getting murdered. Finally decided to move ethernet cable from my ps4 to the Xbox and what a difference! Silky smooth goodness and I actually stand a chance in pvp now. Loving halo 5 so far.
 
Do you guys think we will ever see a first person shooter Halo that takes place during the time Humanity was under the covenants thumb again?

I like Halo 4 and Halo 5 but a group of different alien species forming together to follow a false religion based on an ancient race was a lot more interesting than the storyline we have now. I'd love to see more of that again.
 
After going through the campaign a second time on solo legendary, I have to say it's a pretty fun one despite the horrible Warden Eternals. I like the individual missions way more than any of Halo 4's (even though I think Halo 4's story was better told) and they have certain elements that remind me of classic Halo levels.

- Sword of Sanghelios might be my favorite in the game since it reminds me so much of the large maps with huge battles in Halo 3 and
seeing the Arbiter for the first time since then was a great fan moment

- Battle of Sunaion seems ripped straight out of Halo 2.

- Segments from Behind Enemy Lines (the one with the kraken) and the last level really remind me of Assault on the Control Room from Halo CE.
 
Finally got enough time to beat the campaign. Never played Halo 4, so this was my first time fighting Promeateans. I thought they were a great change up. Loved that it felt equally split between them and Covenant. The new mobility options are pretty great as well. Really enjoyed it, overall. Looking forward to Halo 6.

? I've never played a series that got grenade throwing as right as Halo does. You trippin.

I always felt the opposite playing Destiny - that I died too quickly in that game and reversals were difficult to pull off.
 
Been playing a bit more - exclusively Team Arena.

Here are my thoughts as I bounce from Gold III to Gold I to Gold II to Gold I to Gold II to Gold I, etc.

-This game makes it VERY difficult to enjoy with randoms; prepare to lose
-I hate that the maps are more circular rather than Point A - Point B. This results in many matches devolving into everyone running in circles. This means that it is WAY easier to have someone sneak up from your side or rear in this game than any Halo before; substantially so
-Between boost, sprint, and climbing; getting back into the battle is too fast. If I kill a guy, he can be back - this time with his friends - truly about seven seconds after spawning. This makes map control damn near impossible. I think larger maps would help.
-Again, lack of vehicles in Arena and lack of BTB is terribly frustrating/disappointing
-too few maps, way too few modes
-GRENADES GRENADES GRENADES - damn; everyone should spawn with one grenade; and they need to not be littering the place. Three types and six in your inventory? Crazy.


... all that said:

-This plays so damn well. The tools at your disposal are broad, have lots of depth, all require some risk/reward, and most of all.. are FAIR
-Basically, it controls like a dream - easily the best controlling FPS in years
-control takes legitimate skill. I easily recognize that most of my deaths are a result of me not mastering the controls, the aim, or the tools at my disposal
-The pistol/magnum is damn near CE perfect
-I like AR/pistol starts - VERY fair for everyone
-60fps is spectacular, and worth the visual downgrade
-So far - teams and random player bullshit aside (including quitters, etc) - this is the most fair shooter in a long time; with little reliance on luck


Closing thoughts for tonight? I still don't think it's for me... again, it's missing pretty much everything I love about classic Halo. I don't have enough friends playing to "get gud" with a team. And so I'm stuck with idiots, a lack of teamwork, and quitters. I really miss a lot from CE and 2. But with all that said... for now... I do find myself to keep coming back. I think it's because the game feels fair for the most part - no COD bullshit like perks, upgraded weapons, tiny TTK, etc. It's very pure in an almost Counter-Strike kind of way. Do I think I'll play long term? No. But hey, a few days ago I didn't think I was gonna play any more at all.

Nah he's right about the nade throwing in this game. I said it during the beta, nade tossing looks like a kid learning how to throw for the first time. There's no power behind it in this game. It's an easy adjustment, but it feels off compared to the older games.

The MP in Destiny is all one-hit kills separated by spray-and-pay.

I like it for the chaotic nonsense it is, but it's kind of weird if you're dying quicker in Halo.
 
Half my deaths come with my reticle being red on their head and my bullets doing jack. :-(

I'm loving it and hating it at the same time. It's agonizing to feel like you're winning battles only to just die because of reasons.

Maybe I'm not remembering older games. Haven't played since Reach came out, but it all feels the same to me. As soon as I tossed one, it just felt right. *shrug*
 
What the FUCK were they thinking with these Wardens???? Some of the worst shit ever. Repetitive nonsense. No fuckin strategy. Just prayer that you don't get one shotted every damn attack. Jesus
 
Surely they could use Gears Ultimate Edition as an example. That game uses dedicated servers and has a region selector.

I would assume Gears has a much smaller population than Halo 5, same goes for Titanfall. Just seems like something that would avoid a lot of frustration.

For what it's worth I haven't played a single laggy game yet. And I've matched with Americans, benefit of having great Internet I guess.

The lag is no noticeable, it's the latency that is the problem. No internet in the world can overcome the laws of physics.

I have said it before, they have sacrificed match quality for speed. Then told us their usual bullshit.
