Like I said. Let them try it and let the numbers speak for themselves. It has been a long while since we got that style of game. We liked it for reasons. I don't need halo 5 that much when cod, titanfall 2,destiny will be doing the same things. Just find one that does a little more i like. I hadn't been playing destiny but I think I should try it to see how the map design is. It was just ok in the beta but the shooting and movement did for better than halo 5. I'm still a bit weary on destiny though.
Yeah, Halo doesn't really play like any of those games...
There's more to halo5 than sprinting and clambering...
The guns/grenades/melee trifecta is still intact. In fact, the gun balancing aspect is better handled in this game that in franchise history. Map control and power weapon management is back...
It's literally everything a hardcore halo fan would expect, plus more mobility options. Ofcourse not everyone is happy about the additions... But the same was said when H2 launched.
We can argue about whether the series decline in sales is due purely to formula additions, or due to the basic formula being less appealing in today's market. We'll never know the answer. But I strongly doubt a game that mimics H3 in every way imaginable is going to magically bring everyone who left halo back into the fold AND attract newcomers...
This modern era thing is just ridiculous. As if future like settings makes things modern now.. It isn't like these games were the first to have jet packs and sprinting anyways..
What makes sprinting and thrusters modern? Man this is just ludicrous to me. Do you guys realize what your saying. Modern is such a bad word for this, popular or overly used? Sure, but what makes it.modern? Does that really make sense?
Resolution, special effects, pk this is modern. Controls and controllers. Tvs and many things. But basic gameplay? So now gears of war also needs what to be modern?
Id also love for call of duty to go back to larger maps, vehicles, slower pace and feel like a war field myself. But in this modern era... Guess we can have such a thing.
Sprinting and thrusters aren't inherently modern. But playing so many games with more movement options for the last 6 years (reach and H4 MP were trash, so I largely skipped them) and then going back and playing MCC was pretty jarring for me.
The H5 implementation of Thrusters had a level nuance to duals that channels timed-crouching in H2. Evading a kill shot, and then delivering on of your own feels good. And not being able to do it today, would not feel as good.
Sprinting could be replaced with a higher movement speed, and I wouldn't care, but it's currently used as a modifier for Spartan Abilities. I feel like the Spartan Abilites add to the meta, rather than take away. So it "modernized" the meta by way of adding new things for old players to learn.
