  • Different variables
  • Value perks

AWESOME. But seriously, any info on rain yet? Has Bethesda finally figured out how to stop rain falling through roofs, bridges, overhangs etc?

Yes, well at least when I was building things in Sanctuary I noticed the rain was being blocked by things overhead.

Doesn't look like it.

Dynamic Dismemberment using hardware tessellation?

Someone pls show.
So epic.

Man those PC shots look great. Are all those new graphical features for the console versions as well? I reckon they are?

So things like these?

When a rain storm rolls in, our new material system allows the surfaces of the world to get wet, and a new cloth simulation system makes cloth, hair, and vegetation blow in the wind.

•Tiled Deferred Lighting
•Temporal Anti-Aliasing
•Screen Space Reflections
•Bokeh Depth of Field
•Screen Space Ambient Occlusion
•Height Fog
•Motion Blur
•Filmic Tonemapping
•Custom Skin and Hair Shading
•Dynamic Dismemberment using Hardware Tessellation
•Volumetric Lighting
•Gamma Correct Physically Based Shading

I'm not sure about screen space reflections because all the screenshots of water bodies I've seen so far are from the PS4 version, and none of them show any reflections at all. Unless for some reason their water deliberately doesn't reflect much at all, which would be weird given the addition of screen space reflections to the game...

Did you have to do anything for the bobblehead? I pre-ordered and even joined the fallout club thing, and no mention of it so far.

According to the Facebook group, all you need to do is be in the group (and have the Pipboy Edition preordered). I'm not sure how true that is though as I haven't received mine yet.

They do say in the blogpost that all the features mentioned are available on all platforms, but who knows if that's really the case.

Hmmm...i guess that's what we'll simply have to accept then. Man i have to admit..i am slightly jaleous of the PC gamers out there. It truly looks fantastic in those shots which clearly are PC. I am willing to bet the console version won't have nearly as much foliage as can be seen in the second screenshot. Ah well, when has that ever been different?

Screenshots featuring water, two from PS4, last one from Bethesda's recent technology blog post (so PC), none seeming to show reflections. So I don't get what they're using "screen space reflections" for if not for the water...

Perception at the minutemen, i also want to say there's one at the red rocket but i could be interpreting screenshot locations wrong.
Thanks!

Hope we learn of all the locations soon.

Btw, is it known if you get +HP when you level up?

Also has some new screenshots, from PC version. Looking good and sheds some light on tech improvements they have done.

"Bathesada so lazy, they didn't improve nothing from the FO3! Game is ugly as shit!!"

Granted, some of those screenshots look ungodly good compared to what we've seen in the PC thread, so I'm still a wee bit skeptical.

how long did it take to traverse the map from side to side in fallout 3 and new vegas? or even skyrim?

About 15-20 minutes in Skyrim I'd guess if you sprinted, and really went flat out. Though worth noting Skyrim had mountains all over the place so you're either running around them or up and down them, adding to the duration a bit. Fallout's landscape is flatter, but lots more buildings to make up for that I would imagine (urban jungles and mazes).

Well that would be damn cool, cause it looks fantastic to be honest. It would be a bad look on their part when DF analyzes it next week and says otherwise. We'll see on that.

Cheers, just got sent a webm of someone running across the FO4 map in 11 minutes so wanted to compare, they didn't stop at anything just constant sprint speed.

Lots of open space can be nice but at the same time once you've ran through it once you probably won't be in a hurry to go back if there is no content there.

Yep, and I wouldn't worry. Just looking at the tundra region of Skyrim (maybe 15% of the total map, 20% at most?) gives an immense sense of scale. I'm sure Fallout 4 will feel colossal too =)

11 mins. Interesting. With Boston being so dense with many building to explore, this game is going to be huge.

So I have a question about the game's damage system.

Are there now 4 types of weapons: Melee, Guns, Energy and Radiation. Or is Radiation just another way of saying Energy weapons?

I'm trying to decide if Nuclear Physicist is a must have if you want to use Energy weapons.

Aye, there was a huge section of Skyrim I barely ever entered really, and while I loved traversing the world in DayZ the first few times after that it became a complete chore to trod across empty fields with absolutley nothing around you for miles in every direction.

It seems there is a new type of weapon type because if you notice on the apparel screen there is damage resistance, energy resistance and radiation resistance. at least I think so.

Er i need to learn the how to use vpn with steam then

For unlocking games early it's safe and easy. Fly VPN as long as it isn't being hammered is good.
Don't use it to undercut your region pricing and you'll be fine.

Loved that Bethesda article about the graphics. If the game can be made to look like that on release I'll be happy. (Can it though and wtf is that about dynamic colouring? Most of the images I've seen have bad lighting. I'm confused)

Wouldn't radiation resistance just mean how fast your radiation goes up when exposed to radiation? I believe they made it so that as your radiation increases, it starts eating away at your max life bar (like a souls game) instead of just negative effects.

This is perfect. I have next Wed off. Wonder if I can get Tue off as well...
Do it!

I will be at home around 2pm on Monday, with tons of snacks, have the rest of the day off and can play right away via the NZ VPN.
Tuesday completely off (I even skip workout).
Wednesday completely off.
Gotta do stuff Thursday evening for around 5 hours (including workout), then I'm completely off.
Friday completely off.
Saturday completely off.
Sunday completely off (apart from work out).

I figure by Sunday night I will have a playtime of over 70 hours. :D

That's how you gotta do it.

Hmm. I usually take advantage of a VPN for situations like this, but I've got work and school all day Monday (and I've already burned an absence in order to get Star Wars tickets, so none of that). When it's all said and done, I'd only get to play about 3 hours early using a VPN, so I'll probably just chill it until 9 PST.

Got most of Tuesday and all of Wednesday off, though (yay federal holiday).

11 minutes? Hmm..and in Skyrim it took 15 to 20 minutes? If going by that, it wont exactly be about the same size after all. But i agree about lots of empty open space and you only visit it once and then never again. I do like a big world though.

Are tthe file sizes of both console versions now confirmed? this site seems confused about it:

http://wccftech.com/fallout-4-ps4-install-size-smaller-xbox-version/

Last month, we already posted on how file size of the Xbox One version was revealed on the Xbox Store – 28.12GB of gaming goodness.

According to the Dutch and UK PS Stores, the PS4 version of Bethesda’s latest, weighs in at 26.2GB – 2GB less than the Xbox One version of the game. Interestingly enough, the Spanish, French, and German PS Stores, have listed the game with a hefty file size of 38.2GB

I saw those same three types in the various streams too.

I was looking at the skill tree that emerged online and I was contemplating my build again when I figured this..

When you select your SPECIAL points and let's say you put 5 points in luck, can you then only select one perk (up to the 5th one) or may you use 1,2,3 and 4 as well?

My 15-20 min was just an estimation. I could boot up the game and test the theory I guess =P

But yes, same map size as Skyrim, but with less elevation so presumably slightly less playable space (mountains meant a lot of world building on the Z axis, as well as X and Y, if those are the right letters in that order...) but presumably Fallout's cities will provide far more "dungeon" density given all the buildings you can enter.

Looking over the perks, seems to be inspirational level 2 is completely pointless?

"Your companion resist more damage in combat and cannot be harmed by your attacks".

If they are immortal why would it matter?
