Fallout 4 has gone gold; leaked gameplay vids

Gross. 85+ fov or bust.

I'm hoping there's a slider or at the absolute bare minimum, "~fov 90" works as a command.
Probably gonna have to do the same ini tweak easter egg hunt we always gotta do when these games drop.

At the very least we won't have to calculate and tweak pip boy and terminal zoom levels to suit our new FOVs anymore, based on how they work in the game now. I think

I'm looking at the perks and having a hard time deciding my stats. I'm interested in kind of a sneaky, resourceful, pistol and explosives using, craft things type character.

Let me know if you have any feedback. This is all just based on me looking at the perkchart and making assumptions based on past games, I have never played the game and desire no spoilers.

str 3 - this allows armor mods. I'm not planning a melee focused character.
per 4 - I'm really looking for demolitions expert, which I used in other FO game(s), but I shaved this to 4 and will rely on finding a bobblehead. I like blowing shit up.
end 3 - some baseline endurance and the potential for HP perk if I decide I need it
char 4 - this is hard because I'm not entirely clear how charisma affects dialog and where the threshholds are. I didn't want to be totally uncharismatic. I'd also like the chance to possibly get the animal taming perk at 5 char which I'd need a bobblehead for.
int 5 - scrapper, and bobblehead could get me to 6 for high tech mods
agi 6 - this helps my sneaking and puts me a bobblehead away from the powerful looking ninja perk
luck 3 - I shaved points and left the perks to bobbleheads to spill a couple points into luck because I feel vaguely uncomfortable with leaving it at 1, though there's no particular perk I need.

If if there aren't, I imagine one could still edit through FalloutPrefs.ini, assuming it still exists as part of 4's config framework (it probably does).

Skyrim's FoV resets to the default all the time even if you edit it, so you have to constantly change it by hand. I can't imagine Fallout 4 will be any better in that regard. Only mods can permanently set a custom FoV.

Yeah, PC is console key -> fov 90 (to set to 90).

Then we can only hope that the Flawless Widescreen folks pop out a patch as soon as possible.

edit: Saying this as somebody with a 21:9 monitor and is currently unable to use certain UI elements without a controller in Fallout 3 because of that. :P

Haha, this got me. So true.

When you level up, can you put a point into your base SPECIAL stats as well? Do we know the level cap yet if there is one?

There is achievement for reaching level 50, so I would think 50 to be soft cap. Meaning getting to 50 is somewhat easy and quick, but levels after that are a lot slower to gain.

No hard cap.

Yes to SPECIAL. No level cap.

Thanks. Should be interesting to see the build variety with the new system. I am finding myself playing with more min/max initial setups with the build tools. Would like to be able to buy some perks early instead of trying to start off balanced like I normally do in Fallout games. Do you have to unlock perks sequentially (down the columns) in the skill tree?

achievement/trophy spoilers...possibly something new in the game spoilers

Homerun! – Get a Homerun
Touchdown! – Get a Touchdown

anyone know what these are?

I got the second one and have no idea how.

I was taking down a gang and a dude with a fat boy blew me and one of his friends up and the achievement popped

lol thats funny.

I was thinking the
homerun one could be related to that Big Leagues perk or something. Maybe touchdown is for something with ranged weapons and that kill from the enemy on the other enemy counted for it.

That's what I was thinking.
Maybe a decapitation with a melee weapon earns you the Homerun! one?

Hey folks,
It might already be in here, but I've been trying to avoid getting too many details about the game....but one thing I'm curious about: does anyone know yet if it's possible to fully max a character out in terms of 10s across the S.P.E.C.I.A.L.?

If you can, I'll just set up my character like I normally would, if you can't, I'd probably give A LOT more consideration to my starting stats.

Thanks!

You liking the game so far?

I sunk 8 hours into last night. The game is just a blast to play.

3 of those hours were spent building settlements though so I can easily see people blowing past where I'm at in the same time because it was a lot of fun salvaging and building.

Could you please post some .png's in email tags :) ?

The home run one is related to melee weapons and the touchdown one is related to throwing grenades

Here is the link to that 11 minute video of a person sprinting across the Fallout 4 map. MASSIVE MAP SPOILERS

I didn't look at it myself other than to verify what it was

https://vimeo.com/144626633

Thank you for sharing.

- popin is pretty common
- strange bush and branch wobbling
- had the feeling the framerate dropped a couple of times (but who knows what that might be)
- the world feels smalls, from this video. But I guess that's just a false impression.

Overall I think the game will look better on screenshots then in motion.

I am assuming that by now 21:9 is more mainstream and will likely be compatible with Fallout 4 during gameplay with fov tweaks in the ini. However, menu screens, loading screens, pre-rendered story cutscenes, etc will most likely be rendered out at 16:9.

Yes it's possible since each level you can pick +1 stat and there is no level cap. But doing so will mean you won't be choosing as many perks because it's either a +1 or a perk at level up.

How does the settlement work? What's it for? Can you have more than one? Does it give you a steady stream of caps?

This will be the first time i've ever taken a day off for a game.

Let's hope there aren't any game breaking bugs that require a patch for the game to be playable.

So let's hear some opinions on the building! Gimme some details!

I think the settlement building is what I'm looking forward to the most. Some sort of weird holdover from my childhood when I was a prolific fort builder and dream house blueprinter lol. I would spend hours drawing versions of the house I wanted to own with it's arcades, movie theaters, ball pits etc. Ironically they were almost always underground bunkers. I guess being a child of the 80's with it's cold war and all that, bunkers were all the rage with me

Me too. Just got the okay from my manager and it'll be a first for me as well

You can have several. I doubt a settlement will be a stream of caps early on. If anything it will probably be cap consuming until you got it built up and have built the stores and connections.

Don't wanna spoil the map for myself but for those saying it looks lifeless...compared to what? The other 3d FOs? GTA? I don't recall 3 or NV being crazy populated, for it to seem less than that seems crazy.

Thank you, skimmed through it to avoid any major location spoilers.

Goddamn is that a huge map, considering that characters in games tend to run at Olympic sprinter speeds, the fact that it still took 11 minutes to get from point to point is impressive.

That little bit at the beginning showing how dense the locations are packed, bodes extremely well too.

11 minutes by foot is impressive? That's rather small. An open world game and it only takes 11 minutes to travel across the entire map. Better be several maps of equal size.
