Sony's Dragon Tattoo movie sequel moves forward without Craig, Mara or Fincher.

Ugh.

But I've read Mara wants to do it...

I need to stop watching That 70s Show reruns, I read my last few words in Fez's voice

I actually think it's a smart idea. Well mainly because they're adapting the 4th book, something that nobody has put on film yet.

If we waited around for everyone from the first movie, it would probably just never happen.

Bare minimum, they probably shouy have waited around for Fincher or Mara. Just my opinion. But if you're going to soft reboot it, guess you have to clean the slate.

Three strikes - I'm out.

What's even the point of going forward with the sequels, then?

First movie was kinda shit... but then I thought the originals were insanely boring trash as well.

Genuinely surprised they want this to happen so badly... didn't the first movie flop?

Stephen Knight is great.

The book series is wack though and because of that, despite how slick the film was, it ended up being a lower-tier fincher movie

I'll watch this if knight assembles a decent cast. He's probably gonna get Tom Hardy in it. But honestly this series is a waste of a lot of directors' time

Why in the fuck

.

Wasn't Craig all on board despite Bond? I thought Mara would do it as well.

What's the point if you're recasting the character? Anyone that wants to see a sequel with an established actress for it should just do the Sweedish native film, I guess.

Why even bother at that point? It was Those three that made Girl with the Dragon Tattoo worth watching over the Swedish version (in my opinion, still love Noomi Rapace though).

As much as I loved Fincher's version there was a part that totally deviated from the book that it went against Lisbeth's character and kind of ruined the story of the sequels anyway. I liked how the flick looked and the soundtrack was amazing.

But if a reboot is what they're going for I'm fine with that. Mara was the better Lisbeth (blasphemous, I know), but she was.

For those who don't know, the sequel in question is the new book published, not The Girl Who Played With Fire. The film would act as a reboot, I believe.

Mara to Alicia vikander is a fairly lateral move tbh. She's great but I wouldn't complain about the latter

And knight isn't as proven as Fincher but he's not bad either. Honestly the only reason to really be worried here is just how awful that book might be that this is adapting

Remember those emails and presentations that came out of the Sony hack last year - the ones that went on and on about all the mistakes they knew they were making with their movies? I mean, I remember, but apparently they don't.

Lol, Ok I will give Sony the benefit of the doubt until I hear who they have cast to replace Craig and Mara, and who will be directing, so far this doesn't inspire any confidence.

Its a parallel universe. This is still phase one of the Dragon Tattoo Cinematic Universe.

No Craig, Mara, or Fincher makes my interest go from 100 to 0. Why would they even fucking bother at this point?

The first movie was embarrassingly bad.

Really? I actually liked it more than the Swedish version. I felt the Swedish one made Blomqvist look like he got lucky and had to have Lisbeth help him every step of the way. Also, Stellan Skarsgard as Martin was fucking amazing.

What a waste. Mara, Craig and Fincher were what made the first movie worthwhile at all in spite of its script -- especially Mara, who fucking killed it.

I actually don't mind the idea of recasting Lisbeth with Alicia Vikander too badly, and always figured they wouldn't get Fincher to return anyway. But the loss of Mara's portrayal is going to sting badly. She deserved a sequel.

The leaked emails from Sony showed that Mara wanted to be part of the sequel and was practically asking for it. Why is she not a part of this?
