Fallout 4 has gone gold; leaked gameplay vids

With mods for consoles, I'm sure we'll be seeing a really detailed Hardcore mode for all platforms before too long.

Yeah, of course. And I'm going to be eagerly anticipating that, Fallout 3 was fucking awesome with the wanderer's edition mod. Both me and the enemies dying from just a couple of bullets made the encounters exhilarating.

I've never quick-saved and loaded so much in any game, ever lol

If I unlock idiot savant whilst having 4 INT (just for hacking) will the Luck perk still be useful for me? or is 4 too high?

We have no idea. But if we're able to get our hands in the game files that pertain to perks without the mod tools, I'm sure we'll find out the exact percentages and whatever in just a couple of days.

Oh that's right that's a thing.

My only two wants for the story is that they don't force me to be a "good guy" and let me join the Institute (screw the synthetics!) and that Bethesda doesn't pull the cliché "Surprise" you are a synthetic or have been playing as a synthetic all along!

I would imagine a twist like that would be a pretty big fuck you to everyone who wants to roleplay a bunch of different characters.

They'll probably more or less force you to be a good guy. Hope not, but we'll see.

So how many points do you have at the start?

Beating a dead horse here, but the wait is literally killing me. I think I've spent more time F5'ing this thread than I have been doing actual work this week.

Bsigg12 - Are you seeing a good amount of armor/outfit options so far? I'm hoping to wander the wasteland in style. Also, thank you for all the info. so far! Its made the wait much more bearable.

Why does the generator operate with 28?

Yes, and the mod system allows you to really build some strong weapons and armor.

I know it's a typical Bethesda template for them to Force the "Good Guy" role on us but I really enjoyed how Obsidian gave me the option to join Caesar's Legion instead of forcing me to join the NCR or Brotherhood of Steel.

So I hope I'm given the option to do so even if it doesn't become canon.

Hail Caesar!

Thinking I'll go with this build:

S: 1 (I want Armorer and Blacksmith, just have to level it up)
P: 4 (Gotta have that locksmith!)
E: 1 (nothing interests me here)
C: 6 (always love higher cha builds)
I: 6 (hacking and science!)
A: 3 (sneaking is a must)
L: 7 (love all the luck stuff, my fav of SPECIAL)

Absolutely, I loved NV, but you gotta keep in mind that Obsidian has some pretty great writers when it comes to video games. Bethesda... Not so much.

But hey, here's hoping! Wouldn't mind doing an irredeemably evil guy run myself.

I am playing fallout 3 on xbox 360 right now and having a great time. It doesn't even look that bad..

Are you sure it's not burning your eyes out? Because others imply it will.

LOL I don't have any trouble playing Fallout 3, but it does look a little rough going from a game like Witcher 3 won't deny that.

Posted this in the trailer thread, figured folks here might have an answer:

I'm wondering how much of an RPG this is without skills. Is it just all perk reliant? How does weapon handling work? I'd assume now you'd be able to use regular guns just as easily as energy weapons and what not.

The actual character progression seems even more streamlined than Skyrim.

PC Physical doesn't have full 30GB game on disc(s)! If you take physical PC copy be sure you want to spend time downloading ~20+ GB of data on 10th.

I know, that's what is making it a difficult choice, if I could just install the game and do a small patch, I'd happily save the $10. I'm now trying to hold out for a 23% discount email from gmg that others in this thread have gotten (signed up with a new email yesterday lol)

This is the one thing that's annoyed me about the Pip-Boy edition. There's no way the entire game will be in the box, so it's going to be a couple of hours downloading on release day after work :(

The consequence of the PC Game Market never adopting Blue Ray and I would hate to be a Physical game Collector on PC.

That 22-23% code is only for Season Pass afaik, at least it's what email I got told me.

HW, movie and/or gaming industries never gave good reasons for PC market to invest into 60+ € BluRay drives. Those fuckers cost a lot and didn't give you anything in return, even movie playback was pure luck back then.

Are the settlement materials different than the modding materials? Like should you go scavenger perks if you plan on building lots of settlements?

There's basically no such thing as a physical collector on PC nowadays. It's nearly always just a box with either nothing in it, or a disk that allows you to install Steam.

If it weren't for buying the CE I'd unlock via VPN and play Monday afternoon here... Ah well :(

It is all handled in Perks and SPECIAL. Perks are basically expanded to do double duty and carry the effects of Skills and the older Perk system and most of them have 3-5 ranks, though. So for example Big Leagues is still going to make you do double damage with melee weapons and give you special attack bonuses like random disarms, limb cripples or decapitations once you max it out. Much like Fallout 3 or New Vegas, it is possible to specialize in more than one weapon type if you want but it is going to be very costly resource-wise.

I liked that trailer a lot, geeat seeing both the male and female options for voices represented although i still hate the fact that having voices isn't optional and those hot or cold reply options..yuck.. Bethesda chasing that mass effect money is odd to me me but whatever.. i will still play the mess out of this game while i still have the best opportunity to enjoy it..

female MC has a pinky booty!

As a fallout noob I have a question.

Are there only 7 bobbleheads? One for each special? If so I guess you should only put 9 points in something your interest in because 10 is the MAX?

So you should decide what weapon you use right away? And not deviate from it? What are my choices?

Nah if you do what I said and go all 4s, you'll have plenty of time to decide what weapons you like. I never play melee. usually go with energy and rifles myself.

Choices are probably melee, energy/radiation, small guns, rifles, and large guns/explosives.

To those ordering the collector's guide from Amazon, I got an email maybe an hour ago saying that the collector's guide now has release date delivery and that mine has been upgraded free of charge (if you're a prime member). So yeah. If you were considering buying it but were holding off on it, now's the time.

And I really REALLY would recommend buying it for big rpgs like this. For the Witcher 3 that guide was a godsend. It pointed to me where all of the armor schematics I wanted were, gave you a recommended order to do quests, points you to cool locations, etc. Not to mention chances are there's a more visually appealing map of the world instead of having to look at the pipboy map with its simple graphics lol.

Ukgaf, Anyone ordered from simply games before they stopped accepting pre-orders? Hoping they dispatch tomorrow, would be lovely to get this on Saturday :)

Yeah my order says it looks like it will ship on the 6th, same as my pipboy.

Well, I'd say the big initial choice is whether you'll be playing melee or not to figure out if you want to lean into STR at the outset since that impacts your melee damage.

Beyond that, I'd say you could spend the early game trying out what you can get your hands on, and just wait a bit longer to start investing in weapon-specific Perks (favoring other things like defensive or utility Perks, of which there are tons) until you figure it out.

As far as weapon choices, they're broken down by Perk groupings, so you have:

- Unarmed
- Melee weapons
- Automatic weapons
- Non-Automatic rifles
- Non-Automatic pistols
- Heavy weaponry
- Explosives
- Radiation weaponry

And then you have whatever secondary Perk investments to consider, such as melee, low-tech (firearms) or high-tech (energy) modification specialization.

From what I've seen, everything you scavenge breaks down into base materials that are used for both settlement building and crafting/modding.
